Yeah, this reminds me a lot of Army Basic Training reception when we got uniforms and stuff. I can’t put my finger on it, but something feels a little different though :-)
@@justincastleman9447it is work at the end of the day tho these guys go to work during the week on these long training camps just to shine on Sundays it’s still a job is not like they just sitting in a chair looking pretty for a camera for free all day
Niners fan, but I love watching all the rookies dreams come true. What a feel it must be for all these kids getting measured up for their NFL equipment! So awesome.
i love how everyone has their little changes and stuff for all the equipment. back plates for the pads, lowered straps here, less padding in the helmet, more padding, visor/no visor. and all the equipment guys just immediately "yeah got it, done"
I can imagine how hyped these guys are. They finally made it. And this is the first day where shit gets real and the wheels start rolling. They get their shit then next up is there chance to finally make their league debut.
I’m impressed with how small shoulder pads have gotten over the years. Back in the 80s lineman and RBs looked like they were carrying couches on their shoulders.
My theory is that the pads were big back then because of astroturf, which was literally 1/4 inch of carpet over concrete. Once they went to field turf and back to grass, there wasn't as big of a need for all that padding.
@@Beefry222Also, there are fewer games played at places like the Oakland Coliseum or Shea Stadium where there was bare dirt of the baseball infield being on a portion of the football gridiron. I can’t imagine being tackled onto that felt good.
Man to see these young men reach the pinnacle of American football, something more then likely chased they’re whole life, is AMAZING!! God bless, truly!! 🥲
I think football is one of the great sports, where once you make it pro, the equipment is insane! I've worked in pro soccer, basketball, and it is not as detailed or customizable as football. This is amazing! Go Chargers!!
@GusssGus I can read, but you didn't state what country you worked in football. For example, there are over 100 professional teams in England. Hence why I asked. You could have worked in the fourth tier of English football.
to be fair there's not nearly as much equipment as in football for those other sports, most you can do in basketball is like shoes, the best jerseys, and maybe catapults but those aren't allowed in the nba yet
Hockey is a lot like football that way, perhaps even moreso. A lot of attention goes into fitting skates, and a recent emphasis on helmets and visors as well. Players can be picky about what brand of protective gear they wear as well.
I LOVE seeing this kind of stuff - the actual thought and detail put into making the players more comfortable, safe and prepared to play at a high level.
NFL and each team are killing it with behind the scenes, logistics and day-to-day videos. This isn't my main sport, but y'all have the best videos to see what goes on behind the game, I'm hooked
The detail that goes into fitting a rookie is amazing. I never knew so much went into choosing/fitting equipment. Not a Chargers fan (I'm in northern CA :) ), but this came into my suggestions. Equipment staff - you're amazing. :)
Man blows my mind how much the first day stuff is still so similar and I can just feel what it was like lol first day in High school and even my time at UCF all this is the same process on day 1 lol.
These dudes are MASSIVE they are dwarfing the staff! LOL 😆😂😆. I love how large they are, they don't look that large on TV. It gives perspective seeing them interacting with average sized people.
I'm a Patriots fan. But, I love seeing all players dreams come true. I hope they all have great careers. Also great to see the non players doing these important jobs. It takes everyone.
So cool, never though about first day and all that goes into the uniform fitting. So happy for these guys, they must be pumped like hell! I'm a Giant fan, but I gotta say showing the Chargers blue being fitted was a great choice to show. Excellent uniform.
Oh mannn !! Feeling the Dream and living The Dream! I got chills just by watching this, I would have the big smile all day long if I were there too Bro! Love it
The stuff that I wore in my high school football days was a pre 1955 suspension Riddell football helmet with what they call a cow catcher face mask. I wore high top steel bottom cleats like John Unitas wore. But the fun part was that we played on real grass during a rain shower and the field turned into mud. You'll never get that thrill and excitement playing on artificial turf over mud.
Shout out to these young dudes for making it to the show. Obviously Very very few do. They are the best of best. It’s super impressive they rise to the top.
Cool vid. My first job at 16 was making food at rams summer camp at cal state Fullerton. I remember the excitement when Jerome Bettis signed and showed up. Good memories.
Each one of these athletes are in the top 1 percent and everyone on the team's staff is there to help them to succeed and become the best that they can be. Inspired professionalism!
The Chargers were my childhood team. Grew up watching Dan Fouts, Louie Kelcher, Chuck Muncie in Jack Murphy along with me beloved Padres. Was crushed when they left SD for LA. I will always think fondly of the San Diego Super Chargers but they just aren’t my team any longer. I wish all you players long, happy and healthy careers in the NFL.
Nice little video. I’m sure some teams are better or worse a bit as far as variety of equipment but I don’t think they vary a lot. Thanks for the behind the curtain peak.
I've never played football outside of just in the backyard (I did play hockey as a kid and goalie at that) but when she brought up the options of cleats I got so insanely jealous. Imagine being able to pick out whatever cleats you wanted and I would imagine multiple different ones. Dang so sweet (also go Ravens!!!)
Equipment day has really changed from the 70’s/80’s. Back then you’d get fitted for returnable equipment like helmets, pants, sometimes jerseys, pads etc. meaning if you were cut, traded or retired, you had to return that equipment. Then you had regular daily gear like t-shirts, wrist bands, sweat pants/shirts and every franchise printed on the apparel “Property of” Steelers, Colts, Raiders etc. and this too had to be returned to equipment manager. Franchises were cheap back in the day. Nowadays franchises let you keep the street apparel.
Could watch stuff like this all day long lol
