    Sab/Rav/Rav - Smart Bomb
    Sab/Sab/Sab - Infiltration
    Sen/Sen/Sen - Tortoise***
    Med/Syn/Syn - Recuperation
    =============
    Wanted to make a No Poison - Verc for a while now. Chose Fang, Snow, and Hope since don't learn the Poison ability. Hope does have Poisonga, but the SAB AI will always prioritize Dispel - Deshellga - Deprotega - Poisonga, so it's fine to stay in Infiltration as long as Deshell or Deprotect haven't stuck yet.
    Also wanted to try out Ethereal Mantle (null physical) and Magic Damper (null magic) and it just so happens that Fang, Snow, and Hope are the only 3 characters who can access 'em. Two birds, one stone!
    Ethereal Mantle and Magic Damper prevent the use of healing magic. That includes the Renew Technique. Summon and Elixir do work, but I banned them for this fight to make the battle more challenging.
    This leaves Potions and Phoenix Downs as the only means of healing, so I had Fang in MED to increase their potency. Note that Doctor's Code cannot be equipped because all 4 Accessory slots are required to synthesize Magic Damper (and Ethereal Mantle).

    Hope's boomerang slapping the enemy back and forth is probably one of the funniest animations I've seen in 13
    Also is it just me or do his Attack commands have almost 0 cooldown? As in his ATB starts filling almost instantly after his weapon returns

    • @Lilpuppyluvah
      @Lilpuppyluvah  3 роки тому +1

      I‘m guessing it’s because of Haste, Faultsiphon, and his attack animation. Faultsiphon guarantees that 5 Attacks will refill 1 ATB segment, and Hope’s ATB starts recharging after that last hit. So by the time Hope catches his boomerang, Haste could easily fill up the remaining 4 ATB segments, making it look like there’s no charge time.

      Still kind of early in the postgame with about half the missions done. I can't wait for him to finally get his COM AoE so I can dispose of trash mobs faster lol. I'm using Snow/Hope/Vanille (Cerberus is available) which is a little unorthodox but I got bored of Light/Fang/Hope in Chapter 12+. I'm also using some suboptimal weapons so this is a kind of "different" playthrough haha

    Hey KuroPuP! I came back to this video to use as a sort of reference for a modded Vercingetorix fight I'm trying to figure out.
    The mod actually affects all enemies except the poison thing which is specifically for Verci.
    - Enemies have 75% more HP, scaling down to only 10% more if the base HP is over 1 million
    - Enemy strength or magic is 35% higher; whichever is greater. If they are even, both get a 25% increase instead
    - ATB speed is 50% faster
    - Verci is 90% resistant to poison
    This fight is actually insane now lmao. I'm determined to 5 star it with Hope as the leader but I've tried for 2 days now and barely miss it. I came to reference your no-poison strat since 90% resistance is tough to break through haha. It seems this mod also causes him to heal way more (due to the HP being higher) and also retreat into his shell significantly more often, possibly due to the ATB increase.
    Even with my differences I still picked up some tips here so maybe I'll be able to 5 star Vercingetorix Hard Mode lol

    • @Lilpuppyluvah
      @Lilpuppyluvah  3 роки тому +2

      Hey Rickster! How's the playthrough going?
      Yeah, his heal is %-based on the HP he lost, so good luck with that xD Have you beaten him yet? And what strategy did you end up using? I guess the one thing I'd say to try out is equipping the Gold Watch, since you mentioned you've beaten him already, just not with 5-stars. And sheeesh, +50% ATB sounds more like Nightmare Mode. How do you handle back-to-back Wicked Whirls??

    • @rickster6755
      @rickster6755 3 роки тому +2

      @@Lilpuppyluvah I actually just applied it over my existing file so I could try out the hardest fights right away. So it's going...well? I guess? Haha
      I finally manged to 5 star it (I refuse to use the gold watch lol) by using Vanille/Fang/Hope instead of Hope/Fang/Vanille but just barely. Idk if I should even bother with Poison tbh since it doesn't seem so effective with this mod. He heals back so much and retreats into his shell so often idk if it's even worth taking the time to break through 90% resistance lol. Even Vanille had trouble casting Poison x 6 with a Nirvana (Belladonna) in the Sab/Sab/Sab paradigm LOL. Still can't get it with Hope though...
      I'm thinking I might utilize his Syn here, since my current strat just has Vanille and Fang being the buffers since the buffs get dispelled before they run out, and I need the extra damage reduction from Protectra and Shellra since Verci does so much more now. I'm gonna try casting some useless buffs to shield the important ones from falling off.
      The healing is SO ANNOYING lmao. Because he heals so much and retreats faster AND resists Poison so much you're pretty much forced to be very aggressive especially at the end. I had rounds where he actually *gained* HP on me since my buffs all got dispelled and he Wicked Whirled and caused me to spend precious time healing up. And that's if I was able to survive, lol. I game over'd a lot even as Vanille from being too aggressive.
      I haven't actually been double whirl'd yet at least. Idk how much of an effect the ATB 50% is having on him. He's kind of constantly attacking even without the mod. But I do feel like it's messing with his retreat phases and causing them to happen more often.
      I'm having a lot of fun with the fight though. It's like the original fight except even more intense o_o. I believe the Verci fight is already highly praised by 13 enthusiasts, no? It would be cool to see the more famous ones try it out

      @@rickster6755 hmm. The only stipulation is having Hope as leader with maxed Otshirvani, right? I’ve got some thoughts on potential strategies, but I find it kinda hard to chat in YT comments tbh. Do you mind starting a thread on GameFAQs about it?

      @@Lilpuppyluvah I can actually use a few different weapons on him now. I half cheated though LOL. Essentially I just grinded until I got bored then cheated the rest of the Gil in. It allowed me to test some weird stuff like Malphas Nue with balanced strength and magic to see if Hope got anything useful out of his unique Attack>Ruin animation (he doesn't lol, but it was faster than I thought and he may have the fastest strike>spell animation of anyone, not that it matters tho. Too bad he doesn't get RAV strikes to show this off more...)
      I considered making a thread but I wasn't sure how receptive people would be to asking for help on a modded fight. If you think it would be welcome I'll give it a shot tho

    • @rickster6755
      @rickster6755 3 роки тому +2

      @@Lilpuppyluvah oh and this is weird but Hope's physical attack was of particular interest to me because it has an insanely low recovery time of only 0.16 seconds before his ATB starts charging again (number taken from an ancient gamefaqs post studying animation speeds in depth) so I was thinking it would be interesting to try out Attack>Ruinx4>Attack lol. Alternating between the two also was cool to see
      I also did some Ruinga x2 vs Ruin x6 comparisons and found that, because of Hope's unique cast speed combination, Ruinga could kill a single Sacrifice very slightly faster under certain conditions. I believe it's s because Hope has the fastest offensive spell windup of anyone, but the slowest mid cast, so casting just two spells in a string helped to offset that. Probably not practical or worth it for most situations, but an interesting novelty haha

    Oh btw, I wanted to update you on my Zirnitra struggles. Your Lightning SEN suggestion worked like a charm and it was an easy 5 star. Thanks!
    I've also made a lot of progress on COM for Hope and Vanille so I'm getting closer to that obscure animation video I want to make sometime
    Now I'm trying to decide if I want to risk turning the Adamantoises into Long Guis. I can farm them fairly comfortably now (and even got a trap drop from one lmao) but idk how much harder Long Gui will be for my team. TTs are done now too btw. Why does Gilgamesh Inc suck so much tho? 200k for leadenstrike is gross...
    ...although now this makes me wonder if anyone has done an Ironstrike/Silk Tiger challenge for the hardest mission marks...

    • @Lilpuppyluvah
      @Lilpuppyluvah  3 роки тому +3

      Great to hear! Still looking forward to that vid. And hey, since you’re doing obscure Attack animations, maybe you might wanna include Lightning’s gun mode against Havoc Skytank too. Would’ve been awesome if her gun mode was at least an option against Launched enemies.
      ‘Cuz Greg Inc. is for masochists? lol..I’m pretty sure a Paper/Silk Tiger run is doable. Have you heard of the No-Stats Crystarium Mod? Since the game could be completed with that mod, no doubt P/S Tiger would be a breeze in comparison.
      And there’s absolutely no excuse for Leadenstrike. If it were balancing out extremely OP stats, then sure. But nope 🤨

    • @rickster6755
      @rickster6755 3 роки тому +1

      @@Lilpuppyluvah I wonder if her gun mode was going to be a thing for normal battles, but it was deemed too OP or something so it was removed. It is a pretty insane move mechanics wise tbh. I'll have to see if I have a save for that part though. If I do I'll add it, thanks for the reminder!
      And yeah now that you mention the NCU challenge it definitely would be possible. A Leadenstrike or Ironstrike+NoHaste Vercingetorix challenge could mix things up a bit at least. But yeah those weapons are just...yikes. Imo they need like +300 or more to be worth it. Or make Vampiric Strike not need a dumb equipment combo. Would be cool if some underused abilities were adjusted in a theoretical remaster
      Oh and I recently redid the Neochu fight with my original Hope/Vanille/Snow team (previously I had to whip out Fang to even beat it). I got my first taste of "speed Hope" lmao. The little Picochus all got imperil'd by Vanille's Imperilga and I had Hope buff himself up with Faith+Enfire. The ATB return was so huge his animation would glitch out if you did Ruinga>Blitz LOL. It felt like Lightning's Axis Blade AoE spam but even faster which is so funny to me

    • @Lilpuppyluvah
      @Lilpuppyluvah  3 роки тому +2

      @@rickster6755 I’m guessing so too. I’ve also been thinking that “out if range” enemies like the Skytank could’ve been a thing, thus making Fang and Snow’s regular attacks unusable. Plus if that type of enemy is resistant to magic damage, it’d make Hope and Vanille’s Attack more viable. Buuut instead we have super jumping Li/Sn/Fa. If that weren’t a thing, I imagine Lightning could do a Launch and follow it up with the gun mode attack.
      How about Leadenstrike + no Haste + Battle Speed Slow. Granted, the latter is a boon. But waiting for the ATB to refill would be painful lol. ATB Refresh could probably activate before the ATB could manually refill itself 😄
      Oh yeah... I’ve also wanted to try out Vampiric Strike + No MED, but I don’t know which battle could best showcase it. Any suggestions? Btw, No-Stats Crystarium is more like an NCU-Lite. If you’re playing on PC, maybe you might wanna check it out: www.reddit.com/r/FinalFantasy/comments/6fvpw5/final_fantasy_xiii_mod_nostats_crystarium/
      Lol! Ruinga+Blitz spam must extremely satisfying! It’s official, Hope is the king of AoEs. (huh...that’d make his SAB skillset make more sense too)

      @@Lilpuppyluvah Speaking of things that might've been planned, have you ever seen the beta battle system in action? I found a no commentary video of the game demo from like 10 years ago and a lot of stuff is different O_o
      ua-cam.com/video/emH8h8ZVizY/v-deo.html
      Oof, yeah that ATB rate does sound like torture. Being slowed is bad enough already...
      For the vampiric strike thing maybe a mission that needs lots of AoE? Or maybe something like Proudclad or another story boss. I guess just something that has a lot of HP but doesn't have any special mechanics like falling down (Long Gui, the healing becomes pointless). Maybe Vercingetorix could work and the battle would go similar to this video except all out attacking would replace potions...
      Thanks for that mod rec! I've thought about NCU but having no abilities sounds kind of boring to me lol. So this is looking like an attractive option. I've experimented with another mod from Nexus called "gameplay tweaks and hard mode" that does the opposite of NCU. It makes the enemies stronger instead of nerfing the party. It's fully customizable and has other QoL changes as well if you're interested.
      And yeah now that I've been developing Hope more I can see that his "specialty" is supposed to be AoE master. It's just too bad that it isn't a desirable trait outside of the story. This also makes me think about his animations again. Iirc Hope has the fastest first cast for both magic types. -Ga spells can only be cast up to two times at once so the mid cast speed doesn't matter as much as the windup since your spell strings will only have 2 casts. Soooo it's all coming together now! (For Hope lol)
      Too bad -Ga buffs are only in 13-2. Hope having those would be a huge boost and fit with his theme. It would also probably spark debates about -ra buff power vs ga buff setup time
      If I was choosing I'd give Sazh Bravega, Faithga, and Vigilaga since it would be nice if he was more than a Blitz+Daze bot. And Hope I'd give Protega, Shellga, and Veilga. Although the lack of offensive -ga buffs could still screw him over...
      I left out Hastega because I think that would be broken as hell LOL

    • @Lilpuppyluvah
      @Lilpuppyluvah  3 роки тому +2

      @@rickster6755 Yeah, it’s where the thought came from. But I never saw that one w/o the commentary. Thanks for the link! (bit of a side note, but I get annoyed by the comments that say the demo’s system is better than the actual battle system)
      I’ve tried doing Vampiric Strike + No MED/TP/Items against the Final Boss some time ago but couldn’t get past Bart 3 ‘cuz VS’s 1% wasn’t sufficient enough for healing (or my approach was just plain bad). I imagine it’d work best against easily Staggered enemies. AoE sounds good too. So, maybe Syphax could be a good option? Lifesiphon could even negate the Leadenstrike issue.
      Oh yeah, I’ve heard of the mod before but haven’t tried it out yet. I’m always up for trying new ways to play the game, so definitely gotta check it out some time. Thanks for the rec!
      His specialty also seems to be supported by Alexander. Pre-gestalt, he acts as a Sentinel so Hope could focus on offense. Enemies would clump around Alex which could all but guarantee -ga spells hitting every enemy. Then his Gestalt moves are all AoE, thereby perfectly complementing Hope. Btw, how does Hope’s Blitz work? Does his boomerang hit every single enemy, regardless of their position?
      -ga spells in OG XIII...plus other gameplay elements and QoLs from XIII-2...maybe also add in some of the unused content...add a couple more Undyings...make Titan fightable...make that giant worm Evrae-thing fightable! Man, that theoretical remaster can’t come soon enough...

    How good do you think each eidolon is? How would ya rank them. And do you know of Alexander's best use? (Most optimal way to use Alexander)

    • @Lilpuppyluvah
      @Lilpuppyluvah  4 роки тому +5

      I probably went more in-depth than you asked for lol. Some notes off the top of my head:
      - Hecaton’s finisher has the highest damage output w/o Stagger, building Gestalt Gauge, and hidden mechanics. Main downside is he can’t use Curaga. Best Gestalt attack is Force Blasters.
      - Bahamut’s finisher beats Hecaton’s damage if enemies are Staggered. He’s capable of building his own Gestalt Gauge, unlike others who need their summoners to do it.
      - Odin can automatically Provoke enemies, ignoring Provoke resistance, just by hitting them. If calculated right, Zantetsuken’s hidden insta-death mechanic can affect any enemy as long as the conditions are met.
      - Alexander is the slowest attacker, but his main use pre-Gestalt is as a Sentinel. During Gestalt, he’s great against multiple small enemies because of his reliable AoE attacks. Can inflict Deprotect (Brutal Sanction) and Deshell (Purification). His hidden mechanic multiplies his finisher’s damage if an enemy 1) is weak to any element, 2) is weak to physical or magic damage, or 3) has Deprotect or Deshell. The more of these conditions are met, the higher the finisher’s damage output. BUT, there is no enemy that satifies all three conditions even if Imperiled.
      - Shiva and Brynhildr are lowest tier, imo. If hitting enemies that are weak to ice or fire, respectively, their finishers have the highest damage output. But that’s extremely rare. Plus their Gestalt moves aren’t focused like Alexander (AoE) or Odin (single target) so are hard to maximize.
      ---
      Ranking: (imo)
      1 - Odin IF used specifically for insta-kill mechanic
      2 - Hecaton. Can one-shot M48 Verdelets before they can even try to summon
      3 - Bahamut
      4 - Alexander
      5 - Shiva, Brynhildr
      ---
      Eidolons require planning and knowledge of enemy attack patterns to be effective damage dealers. Otherwise they’d be mediocre at best whose only use is for party healing and disabling turtle legs.
      That said, I can’t really recommend any specific strategy for using them, unless playing a low-level challenge run. Alexander, for example, is great against mobs. But a well developed Party can easily take care of those themselves, anyway.
