    I would honestly give the NX a break here, if you want a super nice SUV, get a better job, earn the money, and upgrade. If you continuously lower the price of a Lexus, eventually, you will end up with a Toyota. The more money you throw into a Lexus, the nicer it becomes. I hate when people complain about budget plastics in an expensive car, what other material are they suppose to use? If you want it leather covered, pay an upholster and quit complaining. People spend way to much money on cars that will only depreciate and leave them with a worthless asset at the end of it's life. If you want more expensive things, focus on alloacting capital towards assets that appreciate as opposed to ones that depreciate. That is the ultimate key to financial stability and economic wealth. Either that or you can keep playing the lottery hoping to hit it big. Lexus is known for reliability, affordable repairs, and its quiet, comfortable interiors. In order for Lexus to do that, it helps to share parts with Toyota which makes repairs significantly cheaper, and are much more available.

    I hear alot of people saying they don't like the looks of the new lexus models. I think they look freaking awesome. I think they look 100 times better than alot if other newer cars on the market

    GREAT review! You are the FIRST reviewer that has gone underneath, and really took the time to look at engineering and mechanical details! You nailed it with the interior review, and gave a really honest and balanced look. THANK YOU for these kind of reviews and look forward to more! Just a small note; I wish the mechanic had more insights to add, instead of being slightly awkward comic relief. Don't get me wrong, I like his contribution, just wish there was more of it.

      Keep it real man, your reviews are great because they are REAL. If I see another "The Fast Lane" car vid review I will stab my eyes out. You should make a comedy skit of those toolbags

    There is nothing STRANGE or AWKWARD about this SUV. I just purchased a 2019 NX 300 FSport. The most awesome vehicle I've ever owned. I've owned Volvos, BMWs, Infinity, BMW and lessor priced vehicles. The quality and dependability of Lexus, surpasses them all.

    • @rydoggsc2
      @rydoggsc2 4 роки тому +1

      It is a vehicle stuck in no man's land. It is not great at being an SUV and terrible at being a sports sedan.

    • @moloono1
      @moloono1 4 роки тому +2

      Ryan The same could be said for all of these smaller CUV models. The BMW X1, Mercedes GLA, etc. The whole segment is a compromise between car and SUV which results in you not getting any of the benefits of either.

    • @interestedtech1
      @interestedtech1 4 роки тому +1

      Meh I have one since 2017. Reliable, comfortable, but i don't like looks and overall boring drive.

    • @guiT39
      @guiT39 4 роки тому +2

      @@moloono1 But it also results in you not getting the drawbacks of either. I think its a little unfair to say that you don't get ANY of the benefits of either. That's not true, if you get these smaller sporty SUVs you get a quicker, lighter and more compact car than a conventional SUV, and those are - in part - benefits of sedans and hatchbacks.
      So the truth is that, with these models, you do sacrifice indeed PART of the benefits of being a conventional SUV in order the gain IN PART the benefits of a sports sedan or hatchback. Its a mid-term/moderate car. Thats why it sells so damn well.

    Excellent video, great true review. I liked the fact that the undercarriage of the vehicle was displayed and specifications clearly described. Amazing! I wish that other UA-camrs would do the same. A true car review is not only the looks of the car, but what's under the hood.

  • @Toyota4Life
    @Toyota4Life 9 років тому +54

    Trying to hard? This is best looking car in its class. Very aggressive. Like it or not it as a ton of character. I find the front end to be great looking very bold and stands out from the Germans. Interior looks great as well. I think version 2.0 and up of this NX is gonna make it great car for Lexus
    The engine is really impressive ! I agree this engine have potential cant wait to see what else it came do. Nice to see Toyota back in the Turbo game

    • @savagegeese
      @savagegeese  9 років тому +13

      It's definitely unique but boy this was one model that absolutely everyone I usually talk to says had a horrible front end. Now that means nothing, its all personal taste. It's just one of those love it hate it designs. But overall there is so much good like motor and interior if you are a Lexus person this is gold.

      I agree it is gold. The NX actually just won a test in motortrend where it was put against all the Germans car and came out on top.

    I've been driving my Lexus NX for 3 months now and I love it! It stands out from the other boring-looking SUVs. Got the Eminent white pearl, it shows better the aggresive lines of this car. I do agree on the infotainment and the slow power hatch, and the sensitive capacitive vanity lights. Fuel economy around 24mp combined.

    I got a 2016 NX FSport AWD. Loving it. All my Previous cars were SUVs. I need to sit higher than coupes/sedans or I am not comfortable. If NX adds 6 cylinder next year, might trade it in. 2016 RX is too big now. And I love the rear power door. No issues for me.

    Not much corrosion resistance to the underside? I had an RX300 that was pretty rusty after 8 years of ownership, seems like not much has changed at Lexus with regard to this, I thought corrosion issues with modern vehicles no longer existed, I guess not if you own a Lexus less of course you reside in sunny California, as you point out it looks pretty low tech on the underside, not liking the alloys offered by Lexus either, I guess you'd have to go after market wheels to get something stylish.

    I bought a cert p-o'd 2015 200t AWD...unfortunately a year before seeing this! I didn't get the F-Sport due to that fugly grill - newer models look a LOT better - but now I really miss the bolstered driver's seat. Oh, well, it's only $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. right? Still, I enjoy driving it, and this vid did a great job describing the experience. A few confounding annoyances, but overall pretty pleasant.

    these compact suvs have no place in the market. Like you said for that kind of money just go buy a really nice sedan, or hell go buy a hot hatch if you want the versatility and the sportiness. For that money you can get a Golf R, or Focus RS. Sure you won't get the luxury but if you're buying this for spirited driving your better off with either of the previously mentioned hatchs. Theres no point to making a compact suv never mind a "sporty" compact suv. Thats what hatchbacks are for. I honestly think these car manufacturers are trying to kill off the regular car market. They see the success of crossovers and are now trying to double down. midsize crossover instead of midsize sedan or fullsize sedan, and now compact suv instead of compact car. They even have a sub compact suv segment which cars like the Nissan Juke, and Fiat 500X belong to. Its really getting ridiculous.

    Got a CPO one for my mom the other day. Chose between a RAV4 Adventure and an F-Sport NX. If you can do away with Apple CarPlay the NX is hands down better. For the same price essentially and amazing CPO rates/Lexus service I would look into one. The build quality and design make this great. I have a V6 Lexus RC and the turbo engine in this is more than enough. Makes me want to get an NX.. same feel just with 4 good seats and a big trunk.

    You're spot on with the front end design. It, along with many recent Toyota products, e.g. Camry, Corolla, etc., looks like a face with a broken chin. The design was probably inspired by Darth Vader. It doesn't work on a car, any car. Ugly, Ugly, Ugly!!!

    Amazing review in the very last thing he said at 2815 is you didn't understand why you wouldn't get a car over this and the answer are two simple words I don't even think mentioned "car seat" you don't want to spend years of your life putting a child in and out of a car seat when you're bending down to your knee level. I did it in my 3 series and I would rather drive my wife's Kia and put up with that

    So they add a canister to muffle the Turbo noise, but then add engine noise through the speakers but use fake engine noises? That’s just stupid. That’s also (in my opinion) one of the fugliest vehicles I’ve seen, the only two mass produced SUVs that are worse that I can think of are the Nissan Juke and the Pontiac Aztec

    think the alloys just look wrong. it should have been 19inch standard for the f sport and needed a different design.

    I don't understand why people like it; in my opinion it looks like it's been smashed up. I prefer the timeless, clean lines of "boring" cars.

    that's well-made review. I have the NX and i got to admit, that their infotainment software sucks...

      The negatives are definitely on point - Our '17 F is definitely a little rough over choppy roads, the transmission is a little slushy, and the infotainment control is not great (as well as voice commands). Overall I love the vehicle - those would be my only real gripes. I will be looking closely between this, the RX, and the RDX down the road. A little more space would be nice, and the Acura caught up in a big way in 2019.

      3 years late, but its "For Brighter Day" from Phantasy Star Universe. This version sounds like a sample, but great nonetheless.

    Love my '15 IS. Agree with the infotainment and clock being shit. It's a shame considering how great the BMW units, etc are.

    Why oh why can't car manufactures ever make a properly good infotainment system? Good ones seem to be the exception! They're always slow, laggy, terrible screens with low resolution and refresh rates, sometimes laughably low functionality, unresponsive resistive touch interfaces (really..resistive touch still exists in these things) ect. If a $200 smartphone can run circles around a $20,000 car when it comes to usability and functionality, there's a problem! The Baby Boomers may not care, but Generation X and Y such as myself, will notice things like this as they are grow into buying these higher end cars and manufactures better sort it out or the criticism will continue to grow. Hopefully the standards of operation set by third parties like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, will allows manufactures to simply adopt them instead failing miserably when trying to do it themselves. Sorry for the book, obviously this is a pain point for me lol (MyFord Touch user myself)
