    Rising temperatures sparked by global warming have led to an even hotter urban climate, created by the so-called heat island effect. Hong Kong-based social enterprise Nature Makers Lab is seeking to help ease the effects of warm air trapped in urban spaces by planting mini forests around the city that also promote biodiversity. Based on a system invented by Japanese botanist Akira Miyawaki, Hong Kong’s first dense mini-forest project was carried out with the help of a group of primary school pupils.

    I dont think reducing CO2 in a city will cool the city.
    By having more trees, it will increase humidity.
    Great effort on planting trees though

    • @indexoptions
      @indexoptions 2 роки тому +8

      I’m thinking the same thing. One thing I’ve learned from living in the woods is trees, trees being dense together, create tons of humidity that you just simply won’t find in the desert (or anywhere urbanized heavily) due to the structures changing natural landforms and weather cycles.
      Absolutely great project as stated though, nice job guys!

    • @mertkoc8024
      @mertkoc8024 2 роки тому +37

      It’s not about absorbing CO2 (which is a nice side effect). The trees are absorbing heat and covering the ground from the sun rays, which also helps to cool the city. If you have a lot of concrete around, it will absorb and store heat for a long time..

      @@chinchin6509 I agreed to the latter. But ideas without execution and execution without results are just B$.. what I am talking about is those in power should really look into this. As they able to magnify the implications. Instead of focusing purely on economic development and urbanisation, new generation should built anything taking into consideration of the wider stakeholders and the nature ecosystem. The previous generation had push their social and environmental responsibility to this generation, and we shouldn't push it to the next one. I am just highlighting that the current focus on capitalism is too extreme, a long term focus on the environment and people are needed urgently.
