Well done Brownells ! Dare I say, an improvement over the HK! Properly gassed, eliminating the need for bolt safety. Self regulating piston, eliminating the weak point at the adjuster. Having both, IE 416 and 417, and BRN -180 upper, the BRN is a better civilian, lighter and just works. The 416/17 is very front heavy, as they are built on mil spec, IE DMR/thick barrels to make them last longer etc. So I prefer lugging around AR15/Brn 180 over the 416/417 (yes, the 417 is a 308 and really heavy to do standing precision shooting with, but we do that with it) And the 416 is the fully automatic edition. piston ARs are a dead end that just kinda wanders forward aimlessly. All of the factors that make them successful have nothing to do with the gas system, except for about a 5 year period in the early 2000s before Mk18s were made reliable. that, plus being a 5.56 SBR from a company previously supplying a bunch of SOF and police with MP5s, basically it was a catalogue replacement for the MP5, and in that role the weapon is absolutely excellet. you've got to remember who is selling each type of rifle and how. Who sells DI ARs? Historically, Colt, LMT, KAC, Colt Canada are about it. So if one of those companies can't politically or in scale meet the needs of a contract, the DI AR15 is essentially failed for reasons completely and entirely unrelated to the gas system. Who sells the HK416? HK. Made in Europe, well made (as the other companies I mentioned are as well), already sold tons of firearms to SOF and police for decades before, used to tailoring them to those customers. Colt has been playing catch up in silly things this entire time. Handguards, handguard length, fire selection, integration with suppressors, etc. Colt fell into memes like barrel swaps and rifles you can convert from 7.62 to 5.56, competing with what failed on the SCAR even. late 2000s-2010s, they were popular for having a free float handguard and being well made. (USMC, Norway) or, for over the beach capability (USN and some other SOF) late 2010s-present, they were popular for being made in europe and having AR15 ergonomics. (Germany, France)
I will say, as cool as this is I’m incredibly disappointed with the barrel not being cold hammer forged…. the barrel & chamber isn’t chrome. If brownells fixes the barrel issue I would 100% get one.
I think it would be worth making a variant that omits the forward assist. The forward assist is a feature that no one should really use - If the round won't chamber fully, using mechanical force to ram it home isn't a great idea.
It’s not a standard assembly, the gas key has been modified for the op rod to strike it and the internals are different and the bolt is different with no gas rings. It’s the same as the HK416 which is what Brownels is cloning. It’s just a piston gun built off the AR platform, and Brownells is cloning the HK416 here.
Quit a bunch of dribble from a guy that probably can't afford any piston guns. Tell me. Why are you so against them? I bet you hate Corvettes, Ford Raptors, and any other items you can't afford.
sooo...its a $200 AR upper with a $1000 piston added on.....yeah no thanks, for that price I could just buy an AK. cut the price in half if you wanna be serious.
But aero precision is barely a step above PSA for way more. Besides, this a piston driven budget version of the 416. You should see what actual HK 416 parts go for.
My buddy's BRN4 has a super rough chamber, and in under 100 rounds it has stuck two live rounds in the chamber so hard they needed to be beaten out with a cleaning rod.
(USMC, Norway)
or, for over the beach capability (USN and some other SOF)
late 2010s-present, they were popular for being made in europe and having AR15 ergonomics. (Germany, France)
Something between 10.4 and 14.5 would be nice for us weirdos
Like a 13.9? 😉
@@brownells
No, like a 12.5”.
I will say, as cool as this is I’m incredibly disappointed with the barrel not being cold hammer forged…. the barrel & chamber isn’t chrome. If brownells fixes the barrel issue I would 100% get one.
Bro, it's a nitrided barrel. It works as a shoot able barrel.
Shut up and take my money
I think it would be worth making a variant that omits the forward assist. The forward assist is a feature that no one should really use - If the round won't chamber fully, using mechanical force to ram it home isn't a great idea.
A BRN-4 upper for less than $1,000 would be cool, too! Especially considering it doesn't ship with a handguard 🙄
why would any one in there right mind pay over $1k for a upper?????????????????!
You all are making me broke
May as well charge $10,000.
That makes no sense.
Holy good Lord are those expensive 😢😅😂
You should see what the real HK parts cost. 🤯
What's the point of a standard ar bolt assembly when you're not using the direct impingement gas system?
It's not standard. The op rod hits a solid extension, not a standard gas key.
Bro.....are you serious.
Quit a bunch of dribble from a guy that probably can't afford any piston guns.
Tell me. Why are you so against them? I bet you hate Corvettes, Ford Raptors, and any other items you can't afford.
Out of stock
damn you brownells, i will never save money if you keep offering products like this
I can get a Daniel Defense upper completely furnished for a few hundred dollars more 😂
DD dosent make 416 clones. 416 uppers start around 3k on the low end.
@@brownells I stand corrected, appreciate the knowledge 🙏
A bit pricey.
Not for a 416 upgraded upper it isnt.
Buy a real HK-416 then buuuuud
Go being poor somewhere else 😂
No it isn't ☠️
Don't get me wrong, 1200 for an upper isn't *cheap,* but unironically that's an incredible deal for what these things are.
Meh
What about a side charger model?
this is a hk416 clone, there is no side charger...
@@haruthewhiteninja Sure, its very similar but a side charger would be a nice option for those that hate the "T" handle
@@frankbrowning328 That is literally one of the dumbest comments about an HK416 clone upper.
@@printingwithpeek4897 You must be a T handle lover. Im not
@@frankbrowning328 No. I'm just a common sense user.
Pricey and parts availability is going to suck so im out...
If you think 1.2k is expensive for a 416 upper, you're an idiot.
Hell no. The prices are stupid
Compared to other 416's? These are about 2k less, so you're correct, prices are stupid low!
No. You are.
1200 bucks. Bet you don’t sell many of those.
You have no idea what you're talking about.
Bet the first batch sold out in 24hrs.
@@brownells They already sold out
sooo...its a $200 AR upper with a $1000 piston added on.....yeah no thanks, for that price I could just buy an AK.
cut the price in half if you wanna be serious.
Youre an idiot.
Holy cow those are expensive!
Aero precision complete uppers cost much less.
But aero precision is barely a step above PSA for way more. Besides, this a piston driven budget version of the 416. You should see what actual HK 416 parts go for.
piston upper, you are paying for extra parts
🤡🤣
This is an HK416 clone rifle. How dumb are you?
I want to see a legit test where you shoot 1,000 rounds with Db meter without malfunctions.
How would a DB meter show you the reliability of something working when you're focus on function not sound?🤦♂️
Can't wait to hear your explanation on the correlation between sound and reliability.
@billydanzz He probably meant he wanted to see it shoot 1k suppressed. That would make sense but the way that he said it is stupid.
My buddy's BRN4 has a super rough chamber, and in under 100 rounds it has stuck two live rounds in the chamber so hard they needed to be beaten out with a cleaning rod.
The BRN4 receivers are also apocalyptically bad looking... especially the left side. it looks like a minecraft HK416.
HK416s with long barrels are terrible with traditional suppressors, flow through is very important.
Oof yall are proud of a stripped down upper for 1200$
Stop talking.
Pay to play in the piston game
Where else are you going to get a semi complete upper for that price for an HK-416? If you aren’t willing to buy it why do you care 🤣
It’s complete. Why charge $1500 for a muzzle device and rail that 99.999% of customers are going to change out.
Pointless and pricey.. no real benefit over standard ar..certainly not enough to justify total build price….folding stock buffer less system like ar18 in 10.5 ok cool maybe, but not this..
Thank you brownells, I've been waiting on you guys to restock your brn4 stuff for awhile. My wallet does not like you though, but it's a clone of something we can't get here... fking hk
Lost me at nitride.....
