- A superior and better quality video for " You're a Good Man Albert Brown " by The Dukes Of Stratosphear taken form the album " Psonic Psunspot " Enjoy this video
Makes you wish you were in an old fashioned pub, getting pissed, with someone playing the piano and everyone singing along to this. Great stuff. My old mate introduced me to this song. Rest in peace bud.
When you think about it, it’s pretty amazing how the Dukes progressed from Your Gold Dress, and Bike Ride to the Moon,
to You’re a Good Man Albert Brown and Pale & Precious in a mere 28 months... quite an accomplishment for a sixties band.
It’s no wonder XTC ripped them off any way they could.
They're not a sixties band. They were formed in 1984 and modeled after the psychedelic rock bands of the 70s.
Also, the 60s had a lot of that kind of talent.
@@kristlepicklesit’s a joke
Hahaha! ... I actually did get the joke.
@@kristlepickles Oh you're no fun, anymore!
The greatest Sixties band that never existed.
The "Dukes" sound much better than 75% of the so called psychedelic offerings from the 1960s.
The Chips From the Chocolate Fireball track listing, could be a Top 20 from 1967!
This was one cut that my mum loved - reminded her of an English pub song.
both longplay records are truly masterpieces
This should be played once a day.
Perfect song
Def a Kinks sound in this tribute to the late 60s Psychidelic era by the brilliant XTC..
Has it really been this many years? You're still a good man Albert Brown, in fact you are the best!
One of my favourite twenty albums of all time.
There at No1 I reckon!
Cor blimey, watch out..... Swindons finest son's magnificient alter-ego. In the future years, decades, centuries etc etc these tracks will be rediscovered by new ears. When all the cardboard cut-out, mass produced pop bile are long forgotten The Dukes and XTC will live on.
Cool. And the amazing thing is I found this Album in a thrift store last saturday.
grazie mille. E' il mio gruppo preferito, sebbene sia trentenne. Grazie grazie, non ho parole.
I never cease to be amazed and delighted by these guys! Loved them since I was a teen, I chose well.
I was depressed and this made me feel good, you was wounded no more, say no more
Yes Albert Brown, you were truly a good man.
I love the 60s vibes.
"Enjoy this video and remember that XTC are been the best por rock british band after THE BEATLES." Amen to that!
fantastically goofy and insane sense of humor these great artists have...love them
It always felt a bit weird that I preferred the pastiche band to the "real thing" . . . I just couldn't stop playing Psonic Psunspot!
so much fun with the boys
still got my Dukes on cassette :-)
This entire album is the very definition of sublime!
XTC forever !!!!
PHANTASTIC!!! The Red Curtain looks like Cpt. Ahab, and Sir John Johns like german "Kaiser Wilhelm"! uncomparably great!!!
I've never seen this before! Now I know they did this the same time as the super-hilarious "A Brief History Of XTC" puppet show. So crazy funny, it's hard to believe the chaps weren't smoking weed 24/7 ;-) Thanks so much for uploading!
Things they used to do on grass eh?
Tint O Mara You beat me to it (by, like, a year). I am The Disappointed!
A chip from my favourite chocolate fireball :-) Thumbs up.
Amazing! This is the first time I've seen Sir John Johns et. al. on video. Thank you!
nice to see Sootie,Sweep and Action Man doing psychodelic duty for King(Kaiser?) and country
Sorry, ..and Sue too, doing her bit.
That picture of andy looking like kaiser wilhelm is the funniest thing ever!!! Makes my day
The best video of all time.
What a great band album love the dukes
albert brown, i salute you
This one, in particular, is laced with melody and charm. Obviously it's the Dukes of Stratosphear...but it's still XTC to me
Incredible album.
Excellent video! Many thanks for sharing it!
The best video ever?
Genius
maravilloso!
Thank you. I love this disc.
Yes dear, we all know you love XTC ;)
I'm glad they're having fun. Not many bands could pull this shit off! X-P
RIP, Albert Brown.
It reminds me of elements of both the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour and Sargent Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band album. I really like this zany and nostalgic song
excellent! thank you!!!
GREAT !
An obvious homage to "Corporal Clegg". :)
for the theme, because the music is typical english pub war song
I also hear some "Admiral Halsley".
@@dropd29 2:13 And some Small Faces. XTC were just the best.
first time seeing this. thanks for posting :)
Fantastici
awesome!
It looks like " Death of a clown" , a wonderful song by The Kinks
Yes I always thought this great song was an affectionate parody of that great band The Kinks. Like Ray and co it wears its London music hall influences very well. Love it!
super!!!!!!!!!!!
great song and video!
Stick Pink Floyds Corlporal Clegg in there as well........and a few others as well
Nice how Virgin Records stood in their way toward actual real release and credit for this wonderful work! I would be taking Virgin to court over and over again for this crime!
RoofLight00 was correct, actually. Andy Partridge has said that this was influenced by The Small Faces, as well as a few other bands, such as The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band.
good stuff.
You're a good man ....
They sound like XTC
Someone probably said it already but so no one else will: They _are_ XTC.
Hmm, maybe you're joking?
Mark Kromer ya think?.. lil
I hope you're kidding... It is XTC...
And why do you suppose that might be?
Play nice, people. Not everyone knew it was XTC, including me.
Action Man on keyboards...priceless fun.
Not so much Beatles as Idle Race, really. Either way, great stuff.
go on albert! ask for it.
This reminds me of Clockwork Angels... for some reason. Carnies, baby. Carnies.
Well, Rush being my favourite band, I'll say this was waaaaaay before the steampunk comedy of current Rush tours/themes.
As XTC are very appreciative of Stackridge - this could be their homage to them ?
@captainkundalini1 Silliness by genius composers/musicians even more rare.
Legal hassles ended their career when Greg Norton sued for moustache infringement.
Actually it's been said by those who know, that The Dukes died in a "bizarre kitchen accident". :-)
Small Faces, Ogdens Nut Gone Flake. Steve Marriott would be proud. Lovely!
@MoveOverCasanova Actually, Sir John is sporting a Lord Kitchener mustache, as evidenced by the cutout that Andy- ahem- "Sir John" is holding.
The XTC's Village green preservation society...
Also influenced Modest Mouse’s Float On video.
Cute!
Sir Ray Davies lives here?
Play them spoons! Are those Sooty and Sweep puppets?
Gads! Never seen this! Rim de my office a Bonz Dog video.
Reunion Tour who's with me
8 people were not drunk upon the floor
Colin should have gone without a shirt more often. Just sayin. ;)
💖💖😋😋😋😋
Andy looking like a cross between Freddie Mercury and Lord Lucan!
hey wait a minute.... those are PUPPETS!!!
I’ll buy Al Brown a pint any day
for every albert there is a gordon
liquidyodel well put.
@ratbasket Try the video for "Shock the Monkey." Don't know where "obnoxious" comes into play...
What up DX Maryland
C'mon UA-cam sing along!
D'you think Albert Brown knew Corporal Clegg?
I see u creepin in the back Robbie Rotten
@captainkundalini1
You just saved my life
Sergeant Corporal Pepperclegg.
How so? It's a Pink Floyd spoof. :-P
Echoes of Pink Floyd's Corporal Clegg.
Pity you can see the hands holding the toys. Spoils the magic. Though, it is the greatest music video of the 80s. Michael Jackson shoulda took notes.
Obvious parody of Pink Floyd's "Corporal Clegg"!
Delta Chi
After ???????????? Are you sure ????? ;-)
Haha hahahaha haha hahahaha haha hahahaha haha hahahaha haha hahahaha haha hahahaha haha hahahaha 😂😂😂😂😂
@TheSnowballEarth Not many do. I can think of a few bands that have fun but not many, Its tiresome touring for one thing.
I guess this is for make us laugh...¡???
Would have been good to include the nutty forced laughter cut off at the end.
the sims music
I'm at the weird part of youtube again
