Glad you enjoyed the movie, Natalie! Definitely recommend the sequel as well. Also, fun fact! 21 Jump Street was originally a television show that started in 1987. Several of the original cast members make small cameos in this movie, including Johnny Depp! Of course, the tv show and the movie are two completely different genres and degrees of gritty and edgy.
Fun fact: Jonah Hill had to convince Channing Tatum to be in the movie because Channing didn’t think he was funny enough to be in it. Which is crazy because Channing steals the movie with how hilarious his delivery is
What I really enjoy about the Jump Street movies is that they don’t take themselves too seriously. Sometimes I actually think they go a little overboard and aren’t serious enough when they should be, but the movies are very self aware so that’s kinda the point. They’re just having fun with it and even poking fun at their own use of different tropes. Like I said, sometimes they’re a bit over the top for me, but I still enjoy them anyways because they’re always good for some laughs and mindless fun. I look forward to seeing your reaction to 22 Jump Street, and when you watch it make sure you watch through the end of the movie because if you don’t then you’ll be missing out on some very, VERY, funny shit. You probably know that Johny Depp was in the original tv show 21 Jump Street, along with Peter Deluise who played his partner here. Many were surprised that Depp did this cameo based on a show he did before he hit super stardom, but he was fully down for it. Despite being a big name, and going for more oddly artistic roles, he's not one to get on a high horse. He even said he would have done an appearance in the Nightmare on Elm street sequel that kind of parodied the movies, since his first role was in the first one, but they hadn't even asked assuming he wouldn't stoop to that.
Depp really just likes to have fun in his roles. He did Kevin Smith's Tusk for free and his only request was that his name didn't show up in the credits, and that he got to use his own make-up guy to create his own character with a penis nose.
@@syl20m20 It use to play in the morning while I was in High School; I could only catch it when I skipped school and it felt too much like Law and Order feels now.

Johnny Depp starred in the 21 Jump Street 80s TV show. He agreed to come back to his role of Tom Hanson in this movie on the condition that he’d be killed off in a blaze of glory.
I worked on this movie. The house party scene: they're really drunk. Channing, Jonah, Channings driver (George) and I did shots at the bar across from set in Nola before they went and shot that scene. Good dudes.
This movie winning the action poll was so crazy, but I'm glad it did. It was so much fun Nat 😄 I would love to be entered into the chance to win the Star Wars Displate Nat 🤞
Depp and his partner Peter Deluise in that scene were the leads n the original 21 Jump Street Series and here they reprise their roles from back them for a fun cameo.
Yeah, he's even playing the same character. He introduces himself as Tom Hanson, and mentions he used to be part of the 21 Jump Street task force back in the day. The other DEA agent is played by Peter DeLouise and it's made clear he's Doug Penhall, his character form the original TV show too. Penhall and Hanson were close friends in the show and did many undercover assignments together.
@@jmhaces and Depp and Deluise often went undercover as "The McQuaid Bros." Channing's character is named Jenco, the name of the original Captain of Jump Street. Also Holly Robinson plays the motor pool officer reprising her role of Judy Hoffs (she also sang the original opening theme with Depp and Deluise singing backup).
That Displate Back To The Future poster is sick! I think of the movie 21 Jump Street every time I put a back pack on just one shoulder like I did back in high school.
This movie was such a surprise. Just because a movie is a nostalgia-based cashgrab, doesn't mean it can't be great. I didn't expect it to be this funny, I didn't even know that Channing Tatum was funny when this movie came out. This movie made me a fan of him. Loved the Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise cameo at the end, reprising their roles from the original show. This movie is stupid and I love it. I saw it in theaters and had to get it on DVD. The commentary (as I'm a total dork and LOVE DVD commentary) is hilarious. So much so that I've watched it with the commentary more than I have watched the movie without. Can't wait to see what you think of it.
The part I like the most in this movie is Rob Riggle (the Coach - Mr. Walters). Along with doing a great job in "The Hangover", he is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve. He WAS a fighter pilot when 9/11 happened, deployed to Afghanistan, saw what was happening, VOLUNTEERED to be re-assigned to a ground unit, then led Marines on the ground in combat. He is a combat veteran having served in Liberia, Kosovo and Afghanistan, earning over 19 medals and ribbons. According to IMDB, "[i]n the film 12 Strong (2018), Riggle plays Colonel Max Bowers, a former battalion commander in the 5th Special Forces Group. In real life, Riggle served directly under Bowers in the opening period of the war in Afghanistan." Big Respect!
I have been watching your reactions now for three years and I can't get enough of them, I love watching them at the end of the day and your intro gets better and better 😂😂😂
Will always have a soft spot for this movie--the drug dealer park at the beginning is actually a beautiful park/nature preserve where my daughter and I love to go to feed the ducks and extremely aggressive geese. It's plopped down in the middle of New Orleans-area suburban sprawl but it's cool.
A lot of people don't know that 21 Jump Street was a TV series in the late 80's that starred Johnny Depp, so his cameo here was a nice little call back to that, that made it so this movie wasn't so much a remake but almost a sequel in a way.
I think most people do know that and that this film is sort of a continuation of the series. They even explicitly mention how the movie is a revival of the show in the starting of the film.
Since it doesn't seem like anyone has mentioned it, Johnny Depp specifically requested that his character from the original Jump Street die in the cameo.

I am an 80s kid (Class of '90), and I was a HUGE fan of the original TV series, and I LOVED Johnny Depp and Peter DeLuise (son of Dom Deluise) as Officers Tom Hanson and Doug Penhall! That was, of course, both JD and PD, there at the end, reprising their roles from 20+ years prior! Officer (Judy) Hoffs (Holly Robinson Peete), the moto pool officer was also a cameo from the original series! It was, for the most part, a serious cop show! I was absolutely offended and incensed when this movie first came out! I felt like it was making fun of a show I loved! And, of course, it was! (I felt the same way about the CHiPs movie, a few years later!) I hated what they did to the Hanson and Penhall Characters! I do have to say, however, the more I've seen it, the more the film kinda grows on me. Watching it here did make it better! If you do ever run out of things to watch, or are just interested, I'd give the old series a try! It was a bit low-budget, and even cheesy, at times, but, it covered some serious topics of the day!

This was such a fun video! I love this movie. Thanks for all the great content!! Displate is an awesome company too! Thank you Nat and Tyler, & Displate for the Back to the Future giveaway entry!
🤡
the guy that's under cover with johnny depp was his partner on the original show. the woman from the motor pool that gave them their car was on the original show also
It’s based on a show from the 80s, which launched Johnny Depp. And it’s in continuity. The show is good for what it is.
as one of my favorite movies that Back to the Future Displate poster would be so cool to have. also love to see you watching this xD
Them reading them his rights is one of the best moments in movie history I think LOL
