Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour (plain flour, Maida)
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon of salt
1/4 teaspoon sugar
1/4 cup yogurt at room temperature
1-1/2 tablespoons oil
About 1/4 cup look warm water
Also need 1/4 cup all-purpose for rolling
For Garnishing
1 tablespoon soft butter or ghee
About 1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro

By the way she grabs and kneads that dough is kinda telling that she’s an expert on this. Love it.
Thank you for the recipe.
I am from Iran and I got amazed at how many similar words we share with Hindi!
We call any kind of bread "Naan", but we traditionally have only flat and thin bread like what you baked.
We call that pan "Taawe" instead of "Tawa" and we say "Tanoor" insteed of "Tandoor".
There is a plethora of words common in hindi n persian.
I'm here in the Midwest, during this pandemic, craving indian takeout and trying to behave and attempt recipes. Your channel rocks! I'm gonna try, wish me luck!
Hope you enjoy
me too!
Ohhh nice.. let me know how it turns out
@@joots4342 I have tried this recipe many times never fails. Just follow the directions you will have great naans. 👍
I just returned to a vegan diet two months ago and have decided to focus on Indian cuisine in the new year to expand my palate. So excited to find your channel. Your recipes will be key in helping me learn Indian recipes!
your grandmotherly and knowledgable aura reminds me of my grandmother who was also an amazing cook. You also kinda look like her which is odd cause im a 27 year old hispanic man.
+David Carmona thank you
All human race is one so it's not odd at all
@@MargaritaMagdalena Don't be racist, it's cause they are both tropical!
First time ever I've successfully made naan bread,so pleased with myself I was going to show it to a mate but I ate it.Thank you.
Me too!
John murphy Hahqhqhqhq😂🤣😂🤣😂👊🏾 I need to try this one since , i fucked three attempts!
could've taken a picture.
😂
I suggested above that you do not need to turn the bread. Just put it under the grill. I guess she does it because of tradition as grill was not available or common in the past.
Excellent tutorial! Bonus points for the one handed kneading method. 14 years in the kitchen and I've never seen that pro maneuver. 👏
This has been a lifesaver during quarantine. Thank you for teaching us how to cook Naan!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed
Manjula’s like a low key magician.
This was so good, thank you Manjula :) great serving for 2 (makes 4 naans) to go with a saucy curry. I don’t have a gas stove, so just cooked in a stainless steel pan on the electric stove, I added a sprinkle of water then flipped the naan to cook the other side. I also switched out the green Chilli for crushed garlic. My partner thought the whole meal was better than Indian takeout.
Great idea!!
I'm a Filipino,, my employers are Chinese,, and I made it for them,,everybody appreciated it...so I'm gonna say thank you for this recipe,,,, very delicious indeed!
Crispy and soft..👌👌👍👍
Here is the US standard to metric conversions if anyone is interested :)
128g all-purpose flour / plain flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp sugar
60g yoghurt at room temperature
1 tbsp oil
65 ml lukewarm water (65 ml is 65 g if it is easier for you)
Also if you don't have an iron skillet and just have non stick pans, I placed mine close right under the oven grill on max until they charred slightly, and they came out great!
Thank you
Arron Burch Thank you, but you did not convert the teaspoon and tablespoon ones.
I kinda freaked when you flipped the pan over :) looks incredible!
Kirk Dilley same lol

Manjula ji, shukria! My hubby is from Muzaffarnagar, India. He loves naan but I'm used to make oven naan Afghani style, but now you saved me - I shall make these naans today as a surprise. He is a great chef too. Esp. an egg plant recipy is to die for. Stay blessed.

Hi Manju. Just made four of the little chaps. The first one I had rolled too thin, but it still tasted like the real thing. I had doubts about whether the dough would stay on the pan when I turned it upside down, but surprise surprise, it did stay where it was supposed to. Many thanks for the inspiration to do it. Regards from sunny Spain. Stewart

REVIEW ... I am coming back online to write a REVIEW about this recipe. I just made it and it is AMAZING! This is one of those few online recipes that are AMAZING, EXCELLENT, 5 STAR CHEF Style. Manjulai Aunty , BIG THANK YOU! PS. I modified this recipe by adding my own topping which is (melted butter+fine choppedgarlic+shredded cheese= mix together in a bowl --> everytime you are done with a naan take spoonfull and spread over naan and keep naan in a steel hotpot container and cover.
5 star. BTW this recipe made 8 medium size naan. enough for 2 adults if they are not that hungry. so next time im doubling or tripling this recipe :)

My grandma and I have our Indian weekend once a month. We look for a recipe and she watches a documentary about India while I cook. Then she pretends to go into an indian restaurant 😂 My grandma is 79 and afraid of planes so she never traveled abroad, but through documentaries and food I let her see the world ✈️ Thank you for a nice smile in my grandmas face, I love when she says “yummy” 😋 💗

It will if the temperature is at 200....
Aunty lovely and easy. Though I have make in tandoor but would love to try your way too. May be for a small quantity don't want to make it too messy with tandoori. Thanks a lot aunty.

Feel like our Grand MAA Shows us....
thank you Manjula ma'am
Has anyone have any ideas or recipes to go with this delicious naan bread ??? I really want to try everything India has to offer, such amazing people. Thank you from the bottom of my Southern Texas heart.
Hugs from Texas ❤
+KooKooforCards Naan will taste great with any gravy based dish like paneer, chholey, rajma or even dum aloo. You could try it with non-veg dishes too. Many people have these with the 'dry' dishes too, i.e. those without any gravy, but personally I prefer roomaali roti with those. Enjoy India on a plate :-)
Try it with red beans and rice or jambalaya, green chili, red chili or any kind of thick stew.
Vegetarian korma it’s really good
Thank you for sharing! I wish I had a gas stove.
It's really awesome
Loved making these with atta tonight. Thanks for the recipe

Manjula's Kitchen hi manjula i really liked the thorough walkthrough i made naan it came out good excellent work also what part of india are you from
Can I make it without flipping the pan ? Like can I just turn the naan on the uncooked side ?
Yeah or u can just get some tongs to hold the naan and put the raw side on the flame upside down.
Im thinking that since i don't have a gas stove that I'd just take the pan and put it in the oven and turn on the top broilers and cook that side that way
I melted one of my pan handles this way 🤣
I am so happy that I found your channel. Your naan looks delicious, thank you for your recipe!
tried it..i came great...loved ur simple instructions mam...
can we do this on coils/electric stove?
I’m wondering the same thing!
No it won’t work.. you need a direct flame
I miss food... I'm on a diet
If you miss food on a diet, it's a wrong diet.
Manjula, you're a genius. I will try this tonight. Thank you for sharing.
Yummy. You are a wonderful teacher. Thank you.
