- Irish singer - songwriter.
Bob Dylan was sufficiently impressed by Brady's work to name-check him in the booklet of his 1985 box set, Biograph. The actual quote was "(...) people get too famous too fast these days and it destroys them. Some guys got it down - Leonard Cohen, Paul Brady, Lou Reed, secret heroes, John Prine, David Allen Coe, Tom Waits. I listen more to that kind of stuff than whatever is popular at the moment. They're not just witchdoctoring up the planet, they don't set up barriers (...)". (Wikipedia)

One day in the 80s a friend asked me "by the way, do you happen to know this Paul Brady?" I still thank him for that. Then I went to Brady´s concert in our town Heidelberg, Germany, with exactly this band. It was a sensational concert, just like this one shown here. But there were not more than ca. 200 in the audience. What a pity. Still today Paul Brady is a hidden treasure, kind of.
Thanks for posting - great musicians at work - Saw this band at a small venue in London about this time and they were absolutely brilliant - an honour to witness
Pity the audience is dead - reminds me of concerts here in the midwest US - why do ppl go?
P Brady is a super popular writer and performer in Ireland and possibly some places in the UK. It’s kinda rough that he never broke on to the international arena. He had a few songs performed by Tina Turner and Bonnie Rait but not many people other than song writing die hard fans would know. He played many shows in the US over the years but not sure if he ever got enough support to bring a band on the road there. I’m a big fan and it’s too bad that he’s largely unknown because he didn’t manage to pull off a major hit song in his heyday.
Magical Artist, seen him in WATERFORD'S Theatre Royal recently,a very special kind that's for sure,⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I can't believe that Paul Brady isn't a world wide Superstar- there's no justice.
I can!!! he's crap!!!
Oh wow, one more video of Terry Williams and Phil Palmer playing together, thank you so much for posting this..!
Beautiful Magic
Great songwriter. The Great Pretender is a fantastic song. Terry Williams from Dire Straits on drums. Phil Palmer guitar!
Complete line-up in my description.
That voice..
Nice video!!! Do you know what happened to the Paul Brady Self Aid 1986 concert on UA-cam? There was one on UA-cam, but it was taken down. I think that performance was monumental :-) Trying to see if any fans can put it out there again.
It's always a shock to see serious performers playing Ovations, and you can hear their distinctive 'quack' immediately, but I suppose that's the power of marketing for you....
Well, they were the hot new thing then. I saw Brady solo in Athlone last year. He plays Taylors now.
@@christopherhelton6999 I've neverheard him play anything that sounds better that his old Yamaha FG160. The Lowden didn't come close!
Paul should have sold these songs to soft rock 80s artists. The royalties alone would have made millions. He could have had the best of both worlds that way. This material is slumming...especially when you have that kind of talent.
I believe Tina Turner did 'Steel Claw'.
@@stavrospapadimitriou7631 Dave Edmunds did a version, too. Terry also played drums on Tina's version 😁
This is the Paul Brady I remember from the best concert I ever experienced, in Limerick, around this same time. Regarding the caption that cites Bob Dylan's comments, Dylan is simply not anywhere near Brady's level.
Love Brady, but come on.
Both incomparable ❤
