This almost happened to my son on his first day of kindergarten. I went to pick him up from school and didn’t see him. I asked his teacher where was he and she told me he was on the bus. The busses were just pulling off as I’m running towards them and the next bus to pull off was my sons, but I caught it, though. I’ll never forget the look in my sons face. He was so scared cause he didn’t know where he was going or where to get off at. We hadn’t discussed that cause he wasn’t suppose to be on a bus. They need to do better all around cause I live in Alaska. This also happened in Texas to a kindergarten kid on his first day. Thank God for the lady that saw him walking had sensed something was wrong and helped him find his way home. Glad her child is safe.

It's so sad how much this happens my son's friend was dropped off at our stop instead of the bus stop behind my neighborhood because the driver never drove the correct route. my son had to guide the driver. My son realized that his friend wasn't at the correct stop the little guy was so scared and crying we calmed him down and had him guide us to his house and his mother was so upset and happy at the same time she had no clue her son was dropped off at the wrong stop. I'm so glad we were there no telling what would have happen.

This is so insane and so unnecessary. I don’t understand why it’s so difficult for the schools to get the children where they’re supposed to be. And the bus driver’s absolutely must be vetted! 2 years ago we had a substitute driver for the special needs bus. My daughter saw him shove one of the kids into the seat and aggressively put the harness on him. She complained to the school district. We never saw him again, but they can’t let just anyone drive our kids around!

She should sue the district for distress and neglectful conduct. The school district is responsible for what happens to a child until they arrive home...The bus company is covering up whoever was the bus driver. Might be someone without the proper license..

That’s absurd! No child should be left alone at a bus stop EVER!!! And to be lost for 2 HOURS! No, I’m sorry. This is completely unacceptable. This mom should absolutely sue the school district. They should be held accountable for this. I feel terrible for this little boy. He must’ve been so scared. UNACCEPTABLE!!

Where I live, kindergartners and 1st graders aren’t allowed to get off the bus without an adult there. 😑

Yes! That’s they way I’ve always understood it to be. I think that guy did it anyway. I’ve been late before by a couple minutes or inside the house and didn’t hear the bus, and the driver would call me. I just can’t understand why that driver just left him there.

They hired someone they didn’t know to drive a young kids school bus? That makes 0 sense, someone would be getting sued off general principle for the temerity of trying to hand me some nonsensical explanation like that after losing my kid

I’ve had this issue happen a few times with ccsd. It sends me into an absolute panic. Thank god I found my child everytime. And the bus drivers literally just drive the bus they don’t care about whether kids get where they need to be. The first day of school and my child and another student don’t get off the bus and the bus driver blamed the kids saying if they horse around and don’t go straight to the bus I drive away. Come to find out teachers or someone told the kids to wait inside the cafeteria for the bus because it was late due to this shortage perhaps…and never told the kids to come back out when the bus was ready. The first time I heard about the bus driver shortage and problems associated with it was from my child…not the school. I don’t understand it.

Why is it that from what I remember from back when I was the same age and rode the bus. I might've gotten off a stop or 2 too early from my usual one. Thankfully I was familiar enough around the blocks close to my house. I just had to walk further until reaching my house. I think if the mom would take her son on walks around the neighborhood or have her son ride a bike along with other kids, which is what my dad had me do around this same age. If he had walked just a few times in his neighborhood he easily could've gotten home.

    • @7Big0Dwag2

Yes you could have done that 20 years ago when this city wasn't hustling bustling Nowadays you have So So many neutrocious drivers from different States Who don't know how to drive and you gonna let your child walk on the sidewalk even ride a bike.

Rainbow, the street where this 5 year old was left, is a busy street with at least 2 lanes in each direction and a 45mph speed limit. No child should be left alone on basically a highway.

This whole school system is a joke. they have protocols and didn't follow so serious action needs to be taken. If I was the bus driver, as a father of 3 amazing children, I would not have dropped the kid off like that by himself especially being that he is just 5 and not familiar with the area. I would rather keep him on the bus and contact someone who can assist or take the kid back to the school where they can reach his parents.

When there was a shortage of school bus drivers at my Elementary School and one was sick they used the Assistant Principal for that Substitute Bus Driver and that was in like 2012,2014 they need to do that with all schools and that Assistant Principal was a perfect bus driver and actually dropped kids off at their houses and some of my other school bus drivers did that until 2016.
