    Ive always been amazed by moose ability to hide as such a large animal. Used to have alot around when i lived in breckenridge. 90% of the time id be standing right next to em before i realized they were there

    Forgive my username, but this backpack is one of the best pieces of kit that I own. It is basically bombproof, yet very light, and the versatility/modularity of the attachments for it makes it useful for nearly every task under the sun. I love it.

    Outstanding pack!!! I carry my Mountain Serape in an 812 Stuffsack on the bottom compression straps. My Terrapocket on the back contains my rain poncho and tarp. The best!!!

    I rate and use each of my packs according to utility respectively. However, I couldn't help rate this Umlindi for its aesthetic value. It is one damn beautiful backpack. I love the "squared" corners as each of my other backpacks taper at the tops (except my monstrous primary winter bushcraft pack). This provides ease of packing it from bottom to top even using the weight distribution principles. All of my gear fits snugly inside except an 18" axe and my Snugpak quilt (supplements my wool blanket on wintry nights). I inserted a short shock cord with a cord lock into the tab at the front bottom to secure my axe handle although the two compression straps do an ample job...it's a just in case thing with me. The shock cord does keep the axe from shifting or swinging. The back sleeve is a handy pocket where my Thermarest sit pad and a large folded Tyvek sheet is stored...providing more padding and protection for my back. Umlindi rating: Superb! Five stars.

    You sold me at carrying your toddler. This is the bug out bag I've been looking for. ;)

    Great packs! Do you consider making some frontloader/toploader hybrid in the future?

      the Aston House Backcountry with it's dual entries is about as close as I think we'll come.

    Is that the Prarie belt featured? Speaking of having a toddler carrier, would the Recon belt do the job just as well? There's a five year old that will likely ride on top for me.

      Recon Belt. That's all I've used on my Umlindi since we came out with it. Even before that, I only used the thin padding in a Prairie Belt.

      HillPeopleGear Thanks, been eagerly awaiting for both to come in stock. The 5 year old will be very pleased to have a new seat.

    Hi boss , UMLINDI is a great pack ,I have one. But could you make any improvement ? such as add "a top pocket" under lid . Actually umlindi is a less organization.

    has anyone tested your packs in south east asian tropical conditions, particularly in the jungles of the Philippines and Malaysia? I'm interested in the Umlindi and Aston House BC, but not sure yet on how they would perform in the tropics. thanks!

    • @HillPeopleGear
      @HillPeopleGear  6 років тому +2

      Yes. One of our friends uses our gear extensively in Borneo. Jungles are simply hard on gear. The weakest point we've found is velcro. Specifically, the velcro flaps that are part of how the belts attach. If you were planning to use either of the two packs you mention belt-less, I'd say you're good to go. If you plan on using them with a belt, I'd warn you that the velcro flap retention for the belt is probably only going to last about 18 months of jungle use.

      Thanks for the quick reply! I'll keep in mind about the velcro flaps.

    Can you please post a video for adjusting the internal frame on Umlindi
    I just bought one from you guys, but have no idea how to adjust it to the comfortable position...
    Many thanks

      as i know , umlindi can't be adjusted by internal frame. you can adjust the connecting webbing between pack back &shoulder harness。

    I am looking at this and the Ute for a 5 day backpacking trip. Would this work?... I'm considering stacking the tent and sleeping bag on top.

    • @HillPeopleGear
      @HillPeopleGear  7 років тому +1

      Not a good plan. the Ute and Umlindi are base packs to which you might add pockets or top bags. Adding the Umlindi to another pack will not work well. Our expedition pack is the Qui-Ya (essentially a bigger Ute). Although a tuned 5 day load will go in a Ute plus back pocket (Palspocket or Connor pocket) nicely as well. The decision tree between Ute and Qui-Ya goes like this -- are you over 6' tall? Get the Qui-Ya. Is this a dedicated multi-day pack? If yes, get the Qui-Ya. If no (you want to use it for day trips as well), then the Ute could be your choice.

      My fault...I didn't explain it well. I am considering either the Ute or the Umlindi. I am mostly wondering if I can load up the Umlindi with a tent on the bottom and sleeping bag on top. Can it flex between a day pack and a more extended pack when needed?

    • @HillPeopleGear
      @HillPeopleGear  7 років тому +3

      Ah... in a pinch, you can do that with an Umlindi. But the same load in a Ute will be far more comfortable. In your shoes, I'd go Ute. The Ute makes a way better day pack than the Umlindi does a multi-day pack.

    Would you guys recommend using the runners harness with the Umlindi for backpacking, or just wearing the chest rig and bag together like in this video?

    • @HillPeopleGear
      @HillPeopleGear  Рік тому

      The Runner's Harness is a niche item. You'll be better off wearing the rigs together like in the video. We do recommend the lifter straps that come with the larger models of Kit Bag.

    I'm not a "brand" guy, but if I had to choose I would never go wrong with Hill People Gear…!No, no Maxp/Cnd/*11 or whatever… just HPG gear!

    Could you plz integrate a top pocket for umlindi as UTE pack?

      郁军 ...would also be great if they would add an additional vertical zipper to have access into the bag and two mash-pockets at the front of the pack, like the Connor Pack...it would be the perfect pack!!!
