    The Tarahumara is my favorite pack of all time. I own lots of packs (including five from HPG) and the Tarahumara is on my back more than any other pack. In fact, I probably use it more than all of my other packs combined. It's crazy how much stuff you can fit in it as well. It's funny you mentioned doing overnights out of it, because I've done it, and people look at me like I'm nuts with such a small pack. If the weather is good, and you know what you're doing, it's not an issue at all.

    You took the words out of my mouth. It was the gateway product to HPG for me and its still going strong.

    Love my Tarahumara. It seems like no matter what I use it for, my gear seems to fit perfectly. And it’s super comfortable. Handsome pup by the way!

    Wonderful little pack! I have had a black one for quite some time. When Grouse Blue was added, I ordered two, hers and his. We also use Kit Bags, an Umlindi, and Attaches. Great gear!

    My first pack, now I have the tara, the junction, umilindi, aston house back country, decker with pack bags, attachi, different assortment of pockets and 4 kit bags. No I will never sell them. Lol I want the ute, and A3 next. If you havnt checked out their backpacks, check them out. Best most durable most comfortable packs on the market. One day I decided to go on a long hike into the back country. Hiking Mt Belford to be exact. It's a mountain above 14,000 feet. My legs were ready I was in phenomenal shape. Ready to take on my first 14er to the peak. About 1 thousand feet shy of the summit the jansport pack I had broke. The shoulder strap came completely separated. Needless to say I didn't make it and had an awful time carrying that pack back several miles down the mountain. When I came back home I researched for weeks possibly over a month. Everything durable and comfortable pointed to one all American made brand, hill people gear. I set my sights on my first pack the tara. Since then I have bagged mt shavano, antero, laconte and coming September soon to be Princeton. I've trail run many miles with the tara and lots of hiking miles with both junction and the aston house. The decker I use in the winter time. I use these packs and I forsee them being handed down after I'm dead and gone. I never have to worry about backpacks anymore, durability or comfort. So why am I buying more packs? Easy, because if I have family or friends to come along. Also I can fit the right size for the right adventure. I'm not exaggerating when I say these packs have opened up a whole new world for me. I'm now comfortably and efficiently mobile, and looking good while doing it.

    Just got mine a week or so ago (in elk brown), and have taken it out on a couple day hikes. Great bag. I might have finally found "the one" day/overnight pack. Surprisingly roomy, very comfortable, thoughtful design and features, and durable construction. Plus, it looks cool. I've still got plenty of extra interior room in mine even after packing the "10 C's" (including alternatives and backups of many of those), and that's without using the external strapping/cords at all, which will hold some more comfortable sleeping arrangements, etc., should I desire.
    Based on my (granted, limited) experience so far, I'd say pull the trigger if you're on the fence. Great bang for your buck. I have zero concerns about how it was built or materials used, and I'd really have to strain to think of any ways the bag could have been better designed.

    I’ve only had mine a few months. Wanted a trim pack but love how this can externally carry a lot more if needed. Excellent carry on for flying and it worked great for port days and excursions while cruising.

    I have had my Tara since 2014. Carried it all over Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. Been carrying it all over Alaska for the past few years. It carries my basic essentials well and is comfortable for all day walking. I have an Umlindi too, and had a Ute. Sometimes I wish I had a "Tara and a half". But then it wouldnt be as small either.

    Headed out on the bike right now with the tarahumara. I like to switch between on my back and on the rear rack of my hard tail. The shoulder harness lower straps were replaced with g-hook straps for quick change-over. That external quilted pocket makes a great way to stow the harness out of the way.

    I always use a stablizer strap. If you are ever scrambling or bending over it prevents shifting of the pack. Just include it as a removable option for those that stay on the trail. But If it doesn't have one I have to hack one on the pack.

    • @HillPeopleGear
      @HillPeopleGear  11 місяців тому +1

      I do understand that it's useful for some. For the majority it won't be, so making them pay extra (cost of the pack would have to go up) to get it only to not use it isn't the best plan. If you need one, it's available here: hillpeoplegear.com/Products/CategoryID/6/ProductID/174

    hi, will you consider to make a light version of the decker frame? Really like the idea of decker frame, but with a decker pack and a belt on, it weights 7 bls , that’s a little bit scary…

    • @HillPeopleGear
      @HillPeopleGear  10 місяців тому

      Modular systems simply weigh more. The light version of the Decker frame is the Ute. If you need lighter, the Ute Light.

    Bladder full of water on top of all your other gear, not sure on this

    • @HillPeopleGear
      @HillPeopleGear  11 місяців тому +2

      The bladder is either going to fail or it isn't. If you're concerned about it, don't use a bladder. Having it in a separate compartment can help some, but not necessarily a lot. At the end of the day, if you choose to use a bladder, you know that at some point it's going to leak all over everything. It's for that reason we don't use them at all.

      Modern wilderness first aid recognizes that the greatest threat to life after scene safety is massive bleeding and the best way to induce a life threatening hemorrhage in the backcountry is velocity sports like mountain biking. A TQ is one of those things where the proper tool weighs less and works way better than anything you could field improvise. So yes, a TQ for mountain biking.
