I can almost here my great grand father dragging his machine gun with his comrades towards Berlin. By the way i am not Russian, I am an Uzbek (FYI: Uzbekistan used to be part of the USSR) and my great grandfather came back with a shrapnel scar caused nazis. And my great grandmother got one of the most prestigious awards in the soviet union: The Socialist Red Star. Not only that, she also got 2 order of Lenins. Im so proud to be related to people who were born in the ussr. (But not proud of some of the things the soviet leaders did)
EDIT: sorry i accidently wrote "socialist red star" the medal was actually "The Hero of Socialist Labor" it is one step down from the "Hero of the Soviet Union" medal which is the highest and most prestigious of the USSR. Sorry

i am of the us, and the propaganda here teaches these citizens to be afraid and hate the soviet union. but i have always found fascination with it and all accomplished prior to its dissolving - your great grandparents sound like the best there was. people of that same rigor must come back! be proud.

@@ionbattery Yes its a very different and fascinating world in post soviet countries, for example, uzbekistan. People assume that its one of those countries similar to Pakistan and Afghanistan and it is really not, it is more leaning towards Russian culture, despite being predominantly muslim we posses a lot of things that we got from Russians, pottery, language, food, even Russians have our pottery too! But yes back to your comment, i was born in a village and that village heavily relied upon cotton, it was the main "economy" of the village, my great grandmother i guess climbed up the ranks and did a crap ton of cotton picking (i guess XD) and eventually joined the Communist party, from there she went on to represent the soviet republic of uzbekistan in political events in the USSR.(not to mention my great grandfathers actions too) cool fact : my grand mother has this HUGE, and i mean HUGE canvas of my great grandmother with her medal, and all the time i would stare at it wondering what that star meant on her uzbek atlas dress, she looked like a hero.

Great performance! When I watch these russian songs I always think there must be a common origin with our brazilian chorinho, one instrument called cavaquinho sounds a bit like the balalaika! I always wanted to try to make a crossover, would sound interesting!
