I played there as a child with all my friends, the park has changed so much and so has the way in which the youth spend their time. We had no Internet or social media back then, this park was our get together, so many fond memories.

Norman Park, my playground in the 1950s and 1960s. Watching this video brings back many happy childhood memories. I left Huddersfield in 1976 and it's interesting to see how much, or how little some things have changed over the last 50 years or so. Thank you for sharing.

@@almafromengland8697 The changes I can see in the park are - The original swings, roundabouts, see saw and large slide that used to be near the tunnel entrance have gone. The pond is a fraction of its original size, one of the two fountains is in the middle of the stream. The horse chestnut tree next to the pond - gone. The bandstand which was replaced with the park keepers tool shed - gone. There used to be a toilet block on the right hand side of the path to the Norman Road exit - gone. Finally, the first house on the right on Norman road used to be a shop selling sweets and ice creams. Other than that, the park hasn't changed much.

You are so right. Unfortunately, the joy, enthusiasm, youth and positive approach in preserving the good things doesn't exist anymore. But, this is life. We need to enjoy every minute of it, as it is and to protect our memories.♡♡♡♡♡
