Loving your videos! It helps put a name to items I’ve seen around and love. Can’t wait for the Brutalist style video. Also, one note, it would be super helpful if you add the names of the designers to the screen for those of us non native speakers :)
My husband and I thoroughly enjoy MCM chairs. We have original Bertoia Diamond chairs & a bird chair, the same green LCW you shared, and Vernor Panton chairs we’ve all found second hand. I love putting them to use daily in our home! We do have unlicensed Panton copies as well.
To add to the debate on knock offs, affordable and mass produced goals would seem to be met with the knock off market. Th original designers have passed on and aren't really going to be affected by people buying knock offs today or not, but at least they're remembered with their names being easily attached to the pieces. I am absolutely for buying originals when you can, but it isn't always possible and in cases like MCM designs where the original designers have passed, I don't think people should be getting too hung up in guilt if they can't get an original.
I have purchased many a knock off piece in my adulthood simply due to the cost restraints of purchasing an original or reproduction. However, they always ended up in the garbage because of the low-cost materials and shotty work. I purchase what I can, now, from thrift stores. Many a solid piece of furniture has been relegated to the bargain room because it’s been painted, has a leg missing, etc. A little elbow grease and these pieces shine again! Additionally, status has always annoyed me and using clothing, accessories, cars, art or furniture to make one feel risen above the rest is the reason I refuse to give these folks my hard-earned yankee dollars. I learned something wonderful about the original designers; their designs were never intended to be used as status symbols. Unfortunately, very few consumers do their homework (thank you for educating us). Learning about a style and the designers who helped shape it, from a source other than social media or some influencer who learned it from social media, is why you are a breath of fresh air, Tara. Keep the design style videos coming! ❤
Eileen Gray's adjustable table was already designed in 1927 for her house E.1027. It's era is still Bauhaus and related to architects like Le Corbusier she was inspired by. All her designs were unbelievably thoughtful and intelligent and one of a kind. Love her!
@@tarapallaychannel My pleasure! And no worries, her designs just are that modern and timeless. If you would tell me it was designed in the 80s I would totally believe it if I didn't know much about her ;-)
Is one of the chair designs from this era called "Show Wood"? I saw flashes in the video of a chair design that I think I like - not one that you specifically highlighted - and did a little bit of internet research to try to figure out what it's called or who designed it. To me this chair seems more comfortable and aesthetically fitting for my taste (which I think would be called "transitional"?) than a lot of the modernist designs. Interesting video, regardless - thank you for the information!
I think the “Show Wood” chair is a newer piece inspired by a mid-century Danish design, but I’m not sure what the name of that Danish chair is. Thanks for watching 😊
I don’t like mid century modern wood aesthetic at all and I feel like I’m in the minority. But because it’s popular on UA-cam I still watch a lot of channels centered around it because the content can still be helpful. I’ve still leaned a lot about interior decorating and how to make things look nice because of that content. What I like is an eclectic glam look but done really well, like definitely modern and contemporary but with a touch of bahaus or 70s accessories like lamps and chairs, I like color and patterns but not that warm wood aesthetic with it.

Oh that is an excellent suggestion - I will definitely make a note of that for the next one! Thank you so much 😊
Really appreciate your interesting, carefully considered content and look forward to more,,,,
Thank you so much!!! 😊

Oh my mistake! Not sure why I thought it was designed later. Thank you for clarifying 😊

@@morro8785 So true!!! Thank you for your thoughtful and knowledgeable comments 😊

How do you spell the name of the paper lamp designer?
Isamu Noguchi. Next time I’ll put the names in the video 😊
Please tell me a tour of your home will be coming at some point. Thanks for the great content.
Yes! There are still some things I am working on fixing up, but I definitely plan to do a house tour when the time is right. Thanks for being here 😊

Ooh… love the idea of 70’s lamps and chairs! Thanks for watching 😊
