Lovely relaxing Sunday evening gardening vlog. Will miss them at end of the season. Do agree with you it is nice to have a rest from all the gardening in the winter and return with fresh vigour in the Spring. Have a great week everyone 💖
I live in central Texas USA, a dry very hot summer temps with little rain. I miss the rain and admire and love the moisture loving ferns you have! I have some peonies I’m going to try here. Sincerely Ms. Greenthumb
Bulb planting gives such joy in the spring! Do yourself a big favour and get an auger - 8cm should be good - attaches to your drill and easy to drill holes for bulbs! Or for small plants - you can thank me later 😉
I have one! Used it to plant the woodland border earlier in Summer, VERY handy! I find it is messy though for bulbs, so I prefer the smaller one for that.
Thanks for the cheery video.Your Garden has transformed so much since I first had the luck of being presented with one of your videos. This is the second bulb planting season I get to watch. I am looking forward to the anticipation of seeing all the newly planted once make their appearance. In the meantime, there will be Christmas decorating videos and plenty of chances, I hope, to sip on a cup of tea while watching your fireplace flicker and listen to your happy chatter. Cheeky thumps up! 👍👍♥️♥️
My garden is sleeping for the winter and I have done 6 rounds of leaves the 7th will be very small. Lots of wind today so the oak leaves are finally down, so I'm on garden vacation until the end of April.
Good for you! This year is the first for me saving leaves in bags. I usually would let them lay in garden beds. I am excited to save them for leaf mold.
Love watching you potter around your garden. Makes me want to do more with my postage stamp-sized one here in New Jersey. You've inspired me to actually plant bulbs this year, 60 so far, with another 50+ to go. My procrastinating paid off...hit a 50% off sale, so I went a little crazy. Thanks for the tips and just being you!
Lovely video! I thought of a wonderful idea for your niece. That you would make a tiny portion of your garden as a fairy garden for her. With little Woodland creatures and fairies in little houses in the garden area I think she would love it🥀🌺🌻🦋
Can’t wait to spring Ms. Catherine . I know your garden will be beautiful. I wish I could plant bulbs. We have too many voles and moles. We planted over 400 bulbs the first year we were here, ( 30 years ago), we lost them all. We tried again a couple of years ago with only about 20 bulbs and they didn’t make either. We do have some Daffodils. That is why I enjoy your garden so much, you have such beautiful bulbs. Ann from Va. USA 🇺🇸
I haven’t bought any bulbs yet, so good to know I still have time. Love watching you gardening it’s less tiring than me doing it😂 but you do motivate me , so thanks Catherine for sharing.
I got you girl, I only planted mine this Sunday. But already dreaming about the display in the spring. It's a good thing to be planting this time of the year, as it brightens the dark long days before Christmas
Watch your channel from Chicago. (I’m Irish - moved here 20+ years ago). But love your sweet garden & all your cleaning/travels & DIY. By the way - it’s AUGER. HARD G. You’re saying aujer. Lol.
Thanks for this video I love planting and organising my plants / bulbs , it doesn’t snow or frost here well not suppose to frost 😂 Karen from Port Macquarie NSW Australia 🌊🐳🦇🐨🦘🇦🇺💌🌷
Just finished planting my bulbs yesterday. Did have to run to the garden center and pick up wire to go over my raised garden bed. The neighborhood squirrels though it would be a good idea to dig them. Those bulbs are now protected. Much love from Canada ❤️
@@DaintyDiaries Very well thank you. We have had a freezing extreme winter.. But a few days of high 20's now! It's been a shock after an arctic blast, but lovely. Into the garden for me!
Oh come spring the garden will be even more beautiful with the spring bulbs blooming. Here in my area Connecticut US we have had a strange warm spell. The gardens look beautiful but the trees have lost their leaves.
Hi Catherine, I enjoyed this video because I haven't been able to do much in my garden because of rain, rain and more rain which is good for all the other plants and the soil but not for anything else. I can't wait to see the flowers when they pop up to say hello. Thanks for letting us watch Cheers 🌻🌻
Catherine we live in Ohio, USA so we put our tiny garden to rest for the winter. We have raked leaves and mulched three times and put the leaves on our garden. ❤
Doing my bulbs this week but in tubs, I'm looking forward to next year watching them grow. I put my garden to bed last week for the winter & did some busy Lizzie cuttings & they're growing nicely, I did three hydrangea cuttings but only one took. xx
Wonderful video. I’m in zone 9a and I’ve always put tulips in the fridge for several weeks before planting. You are the first gardener I’ve heard say they will grow without that step. Maybe an experiment for me next winter as mine are already chilling in the fridge 😂❤
Love that they are chilling, do whatever works for you, I am zone 8, and the Winter is cool enough for them to get going, zone 9a might be a bit milder in Winter so stick to what you are doing x
I really need to get one of those bulb planters...will be such a help (and less messy, lol) I also really want to do a couple of those lasagne pots, yours looked so good this year!
That woodland collection looks beautiful 😍 Can't wait for spring. It's my favorite time in the garden. This year I added daffodils and a mix of purple tulips. I'll do the pots later. I did them in February this year and they flowered nicely over several weeks.
Hi Catherine that’s great to know I’m not too late to plant some bulbs I’ve got lots of empty pots that would be nice to put bulbs in them . Thank you. 🙋🏻♀️🪴🌷Patricia x
Your woodland garden is so pretty! Didn’t you just put that in? I just started one a couple days ago, but now that I see yours I realize I planted mine in dry shade.🤦🏾♀️ I’ll have to get irrigation to it! Your hiccups made me 🤣! You are so precious!
Yes, I planted that up in Sumer time, some of the older plants that were there are doing better after conditioning the soil. In Summer it got a bit dry because of the tree, but the plants adapted x
Great video thank you! It seems we're a bit colder in the winter here in our zones but am considering planting some bulbs in containers as the other areas I can plant are surrounded by evergreens without much sun. I love seeing crocus pop up through the snow. You're encouraging me to do some planting.
TFS so im wondering why you have no hostas for the woodland and Lily of the valley and Im curious what is in that gap near your storage shed- it just stands out which is why my ask. I love your cottage inside and out. I can no longer garden so I live vicariously through you gentle genteel videos. Thank you for being you 🪺🍄💐🌸🪴🌻 I live in AZ so this is actually when we garden prune etc without turning into human leather or crispy humans🔥
Good luck with your bulbs. I planted 100 daffodils last fall. They all sprouted but only half flowered. Not sure why?? Hoping for better success this spring.
Hi Catherine, I love your channel so much. I've just tried to look for your video on what your bulb lasagna turned out but can't seem to find it. Could you send us a link? X

Your garden will look beautiful when the flowers are in full bloom and Catherine all your hard work pay off 🌸🌺🌷🌹💐
You are a joy to watch!! I think you are so right when you suggest letting nature take care of the bulbs. Nature is so amazing. ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Awww
A few winter violas on top of your ‘lasagne’ tubs give nice interest in the Winter.

Well done you, I haven't really started on the leaves yet, daunting task and still lots to fall.
I never rake leaves until after the Grands come and play in them at Thanksgiving!! I enjoy such a simple play...they just laugh!!
Good for you! This year is the first for me saving leaves in bags. I usually would let them lay in garden beds. I am excited to save them for leaf mold.
By Thanksgiving I usually have snow and if I waited until they were all down I might not be able to find my house, could definitely not find my dog

Hi 👋 Catherine 😊 have you ever forced bulbs in your home. I do every year I enjoy watching them come to life. They bring such joy.❤

How many bulbs do you plant in one area?

Hey Vicky, on the back of your packet it will give you spacing guidelines. But, if you try visualise the flower when it has grown, and position as many as you want, the reason people leave gaps between bulbs is they may need to be divided down the line, the bulbs will multiply depending on the variety.
In the woodland corner I planted 60 bulbs in batches of 10
