- Finally we head to Liverpool to start the Leeds to Liverpool Canal , 127 miles over 3 days in testing conditions to say the least.
Day one we set off from Liverpool around 11 am and finding a camp spot just after Appley Bridge.
I will be doing it as 3 episodes, as this is much easier to edit. I have so much footage to sift and sort !! But hoping to have next episode out later next week.

You really can't beat a pub crawl with a bit of cycling thrown in! Being half cut, up the cut is definitely my style. Thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for watching , it was an enjoyable trip atb Dave ⛺️🚲👍
Did this route in two sections, a long way but good route especially over the pennines.
Yes I agree it’s a great scenic route atb Dave
Great video of the 1st day mate, thanks for filming it and putting it together, lots of unseen work, really nice to look back on⛺️🚲👍🏻
Cheers Ian , loads of footage to sift through on with part two 😂😂 bring on the rain eh 🌧️🌧️😵💫
WHO BE THE HOODETH ONE HE RIDE WITH A BLACK COUNTRY CANAL VETERAN AND SCOUNDREL OF THE WATER WAYS ME THINK
Now I could get on board with a canal ride. Lack of hills and all that. Good trip Dave
Cheers Nobby, wait till I upload the mudbath section you might rethink it lol
I don’t know that area at all, so found the ride fascinating - thank you for sharing. Off to see day 2 now 🙂
Same here but we soon got to grips with it , a lovely route . Atb Dave ⛺️🚲👍
A grand start to the trip (apart from dropping the waterproofs) and the big plus so far is the weather, mind nobody likes a headwind. Thats a great wee spot for the first night. 40 miles is good considering you had a few beers on the way, do I see a theme starting here 😅🍺. ATB Big Dave Scotland
Thanks , yeah I have form for losing stuff it’s an expensive habit. Weather yes that’s about to change , beers do slow the pace but we aren’t in it for breaking records lol atb Dave 🍺🚲⛺️👍
Now that's the way to do it - sampling the fayre at the local hospitality houses as you cycle along 😂😂 I like Ian, he's teaching you bad habits lol. It looked like a good trip (apart from losing your waterproofs, I wonder if you'll ever get those leggings back?) but dear me some of those sections were a full on mud bath, I'm surprised no-one skidded in to the canal. Looking forward to the 2nd part of the Leeds - Liverpool special :)
I don’t need leading far astray from pubs lol , yeah lessons learned regarding losing gear 🤔 wait to you see the next episodes , then you will see a mud bath !!! came very close at times to going in the canal 🌊 tfw atb Dave 🚲⛺️👍
Fabulous. Walked the LLC and now planning to Bikepack it. Going to watch the rest. I have loads of questions about your choice of camps.
Hope you enjoy it , atb Dave
Did this a few years ago but sadly the good pub stops were few and far between. It's more challenging than many assume because you earn every mile (few downhill freebies). A very diverse route in terms of scenery and history and very enjoyable.
I agree it’s not any easy route as they go , quite a few grouped together then nothing . tfw atb Davec
Great adventure it’s on my bucket list my lad did it but stayed at hotels off course 👍🏻🚴
Great stuff , nowt wrong with hotels 😂😂 atb Dave
Running Horses - Lydiate.......It's really funny, all those pubs are familiar to me, but I've never been in them on a ride.
The path jumps from the left hand side to the right hand side at Mill Lane, Parbold.
I think you need to rectify that 🍺🚲👍 yes lost count of how many times we swapped sides of the canal 😂
i note the sound clip of "leaning on the everlasting arms". and i'm old enough to remember the sons of the pioneers take.
Yes correct , I do like this tune 👍
My kind of trip, stopping at every pub LOL!
With that comment i decided to watch it cheers
Sun was out , so it would be rude not to stop 😂🍺⛺️🚲👍
@@davesolobiker5601 if it raining or snow or sun or wind i stop
great stuff path looks a bit rough but fantastic route .you should tackle the midi canal in france .
Maybe one day, yeah very muddy paths 😂😂 atb Dave
weather good ☀️ plenty refreshment stops 🍺then you loose your good overpants so annoying dave 🚴👍
Weathers good for now Geordie, yeah it ain’t a trip if I don’t lose something 😂👍
I really detest those grey gate things. I lived close to the canal for years - it's not that far now really. I've done that ride a few times now on different bikes over the years. I've used The Navigator in Blackburn as a pit stop a few times, inn on the Wharf Burnley, The Black Swan in Hebden Bridge. Last outing that way was 2022.
thanks , yeah some of those gates are a real pain to get through, towpath is in a right state in places at the moment . atb Dave
Nice one Dave , shame about the paclites , I’m concerned you weren’t hydrating properly - only 3 pints ? Regards Mick
That was it, I wasn’t hydrated properly 😂
That's a lot of kit - how many years are you going for?
A couple , enlighten me on what you carry ? I pack for comfort ⛺️👍
I hope ur still on this ride im 2mins from the canal in Worsley
Sorry but we finished it on Friday atb Dave ⛺️🚲👍

Tfw atb Dave ⛺️🚲👍
What was the barge doing at 03.50?
God knows but he clattered the edge 😂😂
From here it looked like you got rather close to that canal one point,my wife was quite concerned for you I knew you would be ok .Your always loosing things I think it was your phone last time.
lol there was a few close calls, I only lose things when I’m trips with ian 😂 . It was my own fault I didn’t retighten the cord when I binned a bottle from the back . Atb Dave
