Since May 2018, Chestnut Products have provided me with stains, an iridescent paints sample set, lacquers and waxes. I'd like to thank them for their kind and generous support. Martin Saban-Smith has provided me with a sample set of Intrinisic Colours.
    All other products and tools, unless where indicated, have been bought from suppliers at retail prices. Products mentioned in my videos are for information purposes so that viewers know what I have used.

    Stewart we learned a lot from his videos, his techniques and his experiments, but the most interesting thing is his excitement, his determination to do things differently and better. From here in Brazil I wish you much success and a big hug Said Choucair.

    Thanks for sharing Stewart, the tools are a bit pricey for me. I'll just stick to my homemade chatter tool made out of a 25 cent butter knife that give me similar results.

    OK, you're right, that was fun. My ancient spiraling tool, forget the brand, clearly isn't up to the Simon Hope tools. Those textures were very clean. I will have to make something for my wife that requires texturing so I can justify it by needing only the best for her.
    Yeah, that'll work.

    Still can't make up my mind between the Sorby micro & the Hope micro. I love the patterns I can get with my large Sorby tool using all 4 wheels. The Hope certainly makes different patterns which allows more versatility. Decisions Decisions.

    Thanks for demonstrating the Hope tools, I do like the way it embosses instead of cutting. I have always had trouble with ragged tearout using the Sorby system whereas the Hope tool leaves a cleaner finish. Definately going to give it a closer look Stewart.

      Fantastic! Although the fluting jig does super-neat and accurate work (not quite my style!) I think it'll be on this year's shopping list for sure....the threading jig is superb too.....will I make lots of threaded boxes......with decorated lids......hmmmm......maybe......!

    Hi Stewart. I have a 1/3 hp 250w small bench top lathe and someone said it may not be powerful enough to use a texturing tool, what do you think. Anyway love all your videos, have only started turning recently and they are great inspiration. Thanks

    • @stewartfurini
      @stewartfurini  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks for commenting, Alison...to be honest, I'm not sure about the answer to your question....I think you should be able to do it.....if you happen to be in a woodturning club perhaps a fellow member with a texturing tool would let you have a go with their tool? I imagine the concern would be that the pressure of the cut would slow the lathe down. If you do get to have a go with a texturing tool on your lathe. let me know how you get on!
