The N64 core has been extremely impressive to me. I was playing Ocarina of Time last night, which I've done plenty of times in emulators, but the MiSTer version just feels...better? It's hard to explain, just everything feels a bit snappier and nicer and more-legit. It's a bummer that Conker doesn't work, but maybe someone can make a game-specific hack for the core, or a specialized romhack/decompilation will come along eventually.
@@thomasgebert6119 Most people don't personally know anyone who has a MiSTer so I guess your statement is true. Is the N64 core one of those that will benefit from the new MiSTer IO board with higher bit depth rendering?
It will benefit a bit in the color banding I believe
I had the most recent test build and anticipated when I ran update all that I might need to add my games again. Or there’d at least be two N64 cores. Looks like the most recent test build is what’s in update all, and my MiSTer acted like I already ran the update. Just wanted to share and see if that sounds correct.
Yes the most recent test build was just a release candidate. This is it :)
@@VideoGameEsoterica Something I noticed that might be user error on my part, but I tried to go back to a stable MiSTer build from the unstable I needed to run the N64 core. Games wouldn't load. Went back to the unstable build and they run. Probably no big deal, but just in case someone smarter than me thinks it is ...
Should be fine on stable. I’ll check into it
Ran update all and the n64 core came over fine but my roms aren't loading...i checked my SD card and I confirmed I didn't get any boot.rom or boot1.rom files that came over in my games file (N64)...any ideas on where to find them?
Make sure the bios getter is turned on via the update all settings. It should bring them down
You saved the day brother!!! Got me officialy running!!! Now it's time to enjoy!!! Thank you for your help and all your efforts for this community 🤝...love and respect from Colorado 🍻
I wonder if the MGC 2011 demo runs on this core. It notoriously doesn't work on any of the emulators. If that'll work on mister's n64 core, that'll be a killer feature for me.
Give it a shot and lmk
@@VideoGameEsoterica I don't have a mister lol.
Ahh well that makes it harder for sure lol
Do the anti blur roms work on this?
Honestly I haven’t tested them but it would do basically the same as turning off some parts of VI
You can turn off blur on the options
You could say it's N Sixty For All!
I bet you are SO proud of yourself 🤣
😎
So I did update all and got the core. I am using a Hyperkin 64 adapter for USB. When I play Killer Instinct Gold, the D-Pad register all the sides but I can't do quarter movements and I can't jump forward. Is there a reason why this is happening? or is this an issue with the core?
Delete the pad config and reconfigure. Should work fine
It's 1996 again baby, I'm gonna go rent Cruisin' USA, Mario and Waverace first!!! Just like back then!!! IT'S LAUNCH DAY!
💪💪💪💪💪💪💪
Don’t forget the takeout pizza
Good News thx 👍
👍
The day is here! 🎉
It truly is!
Fuckin finally. Goemon time.
Goemon is awesome
Time to get a 1 TB micro sd
Bro N64 games are tiny in size 😂
Maybe he’s just adding to an existing install
Worth having extra space
I still have a whole 150GB remaining on mine! Hoarding roms is half the fun
@ajsingh4545 lol... honestly, I thought I wrote this in a text message to my friend. We were talking about the 0Mhz dos games and the improved Saturn core.
I then realized I typed it in the video comment section and just didn't bother deleting it.
Although I am straight my bed still has space for a MiSTer, VGE and Robert !
🤣
It's buttery smooth! but I just pushed my MicroSD Card in wrong and now will have to open the metal case to get it out, as I can hear it rattle around loose inside. All of this because went to change the configs because the N64 core didn't work without the rescaler on my NTSC CRT.
Oh well. It was going to happen one day.
Now that I think of it, I could have done it through SMB.
Ouh!
Do it upside down. Then the case upside down before inserting the card. Can’t really fall in
Yaaaa!
Let's goooooo!
Please it’s LETSA GO
@@VideoGameEsoterica 🤣👍
Haha 🤣
I just ran update_all but also, no new N64 core.
Odd. It’s there. Run it again and lmk
Can't wait to spice it up with a good CRT shader 🎉🎉🎉
Have fun 👍
Wow, turning off texture filtering is a huge improvement. Couldn't stand all those blurry textures. Now, time to discover some N64 games that I never got to play!
No sir I don’t like it
Updating all now.
Have fun!
Woohoow! 🎉
The time is now!
Yessssssssssss! ☮️
A fun time being had by all!
@@VideoGameEsoterica thanks. Waited for releasing on update all and I couldn't be happier. This is an accurate n64 and even better than the real hw. Imo. Hope the turbo function gets integrated as option. And of course the arcade boards based on the n64 hw would be nice to see. Robert is a genius. I wonder if the gb ds is possible on MiSTer. ☮️
It’s a hell of a core but turbo will probably remain separate
Hyped. Need some time off to play, and a proper controller. Saturn is getting close, we just 3do and jaguar and i think we will be "done".
It would be fun to have them all for sure
