4:53 Topspin practice drill 6:30 You can hit the ball very high over the net and make it go in when you hit it the right way 10:11 The result after practice 11:09 Very nice shot
I'm guilty of isolating the forehand to get extra spin, but now I see that adding height and keeping racquet head speed fast is needed. Thank you for the lesson!
Alec has a beautiful follow through. I think the follow through frequently indicates the level of a player. Many lower recreational players tend to not follow through at all and instead stop the motion actively when the racquet is close to the player's head. Regarding Nik's coaching methods: Simply ❤ it.
The student's head was popping up and tracking the ball, rotating about 90 degrees. When being fed balls I think it is better to keep the head down at the contact point.
I absolutey love this video! Great drills. Alec is simply a fine 4.5 rec player. I love his technique and racket head speed. You are right about the drop in racket head speed when aiming for more top spin. Generally speaking it is very tough to fight with this intuitive desire to slow down and decrease the racket head speed. What happened to Shamir? Haven't seen him for a long time😀
Hi, you mentioned at 6:50 that the higher top spin makes the forehand more dangerous. Why is a higher ball that drops more dangerous than one that would go a little lower, faster and with less top spin?
Nice lesson. Alec has a good stroke. Seems to keep a pretty open stance with most of the top-spin forehands. Is this recommended? Not sure what most of top players do.
Hi, I have watched over 100 of your videos and unlike videos by other coaches I have watched they are very good, very clear and not annoying to watch in any way ! But there is one video I would like to see, whenever you talk about the racket drop you describe it as a natural thing that you don't have to think about it, but this is not the case for me. Usually when I consciously think about it I do it correctly dropping on edge and do a good shot but when I don't I then forget to do hardly any racket drop and do a shortened stroke which is not good, perhaps you could do a video to help us who do not find the cshape and racket drop that automatic.
You’re not wrong. I also like to get my elbow back and away. But I think that is more stylistic than a nonnegotiable fundamental. It’s probably not worth completely reworking his forehand technique because that is a pretty solid shot for him
The drawback of the racket was done in two parts, it was not done in one fluid motion and that reduces a lot the power and the ability to produce efficient topspin. In some balls where he played more freely the ball went a lot better
Good exercises. I like your video. But the persons weight is on the wrong foot while hitting the forehand. Maybe he's used to taking the balls on the body
@@IntuitiveTennisNick, I watched that video now and I disagree. The sound is indicative of quality. It's not a matter of personal taste. The sound is a result of the reaction of the strings and frame to the ball. And that reaction also affects the shot. Go to any ATP tournament, you will *never* hear such a pingy sound like your shots generated in that rally. All pros just happen to have the same "personal taste" about sound?
When you watch Nadal's forehand in a mirrored video (so he appears right-handed) it looks very similar to Federer's, just Nadal does the weird lasso whip thing around his head.
it might be an idea not to rally with Alec at the end using your one hander. You only managed to get two balls past the service line and some didn't even go cross court. I think you need to work on it a bit more as its pretty bad if Alec is a paying customer and the coach can't give him a consistent ball.
Well that’s the whole point of doing the rally at the end. The incoming ball might be short/deep/more angle/more flat, and it’s unpredictable. And Alec needs to produce topspin consistently regardless in this case. This is not a rally/hitting session
@@yueshe4323 I agree somewhat that it’s less predictable, but when it ends up on the backhand side and then sinks one into the net that can be classed at not very good. Even Nic says that it needs work so I was surprised he was using it.
@@ryanmitchell9460I’m not surprised at all. First of all Alec is just starting developing more topspin on the forehand, so he does not need super high quality ball coming to him and a one hander is sufficient enough. Second, as many of Nick’s video said, having a one hander is ideal for coaching such that he can hold many balls on another hand to feed one right away when he misses, which is exactly suitable for this situation
You really think that if Nick wanted to hit it deep in the corner with his backhand he couldn't do it against a 4.5 level player? He's clearly just giving him easy rally balls to attack in the middle of the court to work on the heavy topspin forehand.

Not only are you an awesome coach, but you are a humble man my dude. You’re able to encourage people and your ego isn’t in the way.

Just curious, what you mean by ego?

Loving the Croatian flag in the video Nikola! Pozdrav iz Hrvatske! Počeo sam s rekreativnim tenisom i tvoji videi mi puno pomažu!

Alec’s footwork is looking much more lively than the last time I remember him on your channel! Really useful progression.

Damn you make good videos. Way to tease out the critical nuances of these things and explain & physically teach them clearly.
I really enjoyed this video - it really helped me with the ball machine today and then playing matches later in the day. thanks.

Great Training session. Love Alec.
Loving those 1 handers Nik!! Way to go!
Cheers and a great weekend!

Yes

I think he would get more spin if he got his racket head beneath the ball more. Looks like he's setting up at the same level as the incoming ball
Hit spin hard.
Great forehand but the elbow is too low on the takeback imho too close to the body correct me if i am wrong

just where the hell were you when I was trying to learn tennis? I have got it all wrong now...
I was right here since 2018 😂
Don’t worry you can fix your strokes 💯🙌
I think you are am excellent coach, bit on your drills you are sacrificing good results (more spin here) for speed & high numbers (stamina) too much.
Played today a heavy topspin player oh my god that he was torturing me.
I am first! 👍👍

Nick, you need a dampener. The sound coming off your racquet in that last rally was awful.
I don’t like playing with dampeners

He has a very mechanical swing. It should be more fluid and any topspin should come naturally.
Rafa has a ugly looking forehand compared to Fed and Djoks.
