    First time Ive actually seen this, and I totally appreciate Joe Buck being 1000000% honest and saying that's what he asked for and got it, all be it, maybe a bit over the top...but I have respect for Joe and the fact he didn't throw Artie under the bus on this.

    • @sskoog
      @sskoog 3 роки тому +3

      I was listening live during this (2009) Joe Buck show timeframe -- it was nauseating, watching the two of them (three, if you count the HBO corporate entity) maneuvering around the mess -- first it was "Artie set me up, he was out of control," then it was "Joe asked me to fire it up, keep it interesting," then it was "HBO was concerned about boring Joe all the while, they invited Artie for controversy," then it was "you damaged my brand, NO, YOU damaged MY brand" -- weeks-long spin fest. You can even sort of see remnants of it in Buck's foreword to Crash and Burn; he's mostly cool, and even funny, but there's a hint of "hey, scumbag, you really messed up my life" in the early paragraphs.

    • @JacaboBlanco
      @JacaboBlanco 3 роки тому +3

      He did throw Artie under the bus immediately afterwards in the media lol

    • @sskoog
      @sskoog 3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, there was LOTS of public-statement and position-adjustment during this period. Joe came out with a big thing about how "he'd cried knowing his daughters had seen it," and HBO went on an Artie-screwed-us crusade, and Artie fired back they-asked-me-to-be-feisty, then they all miraculously softened their positions: hey, uhh, maybe I was out of line, hey, uhh, maybe we did ask Artie to spice things up. It was disgusting, and the current way everyone "remembers" it does not match historical fact.

    • @mightymoeish
      @mightymoeish Рік тому

      He immediately covers his ass by saying he's the host and can't fire back. He tried. Couldn't come up with anything. Couldn't even run a show with two of the biggest up and coming stars at the time.

Not only that,but he was not able to hide all that right there on the spot. And second,the show didn't fail because he was mad at HBO for not allowing him to have Artie back. The problem is that Joe is slightly below avg IQ guy mixed with many beta characteristics.
    He still doesn't get what happened and why.
    You don't put a wild card like Artie in the 1st show, AND tell him to go wild, take over, whatever. Buck wasn't close to ready for that.
    One of the dumbest decisions ever.

    a 33% isn't a C, Joe. Although I've never attended Indiana University in Bloomington so maybe the grading standards vary.

      The show lasted 3 out of 4 episodes. 3/4 is 75%. Do they have calculators where you live, huge asshole?

    "Everything is so serious". Really? What planet is he living on. There are no sacred cows and whatever remnants of them that are left are gleefully ripped asunder every moment by popular culture. There is a lot of good in trashing established norms and values or at least exploring their validity, but there is also a dark side to it. The inanity and crass iconoclastic nature of shows like Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, It's Always Sunny..., Trailer Park Boys, and on and on, do serve to make lite of the ridiculous side of culture and humanity. But they also relish placing an innate value on being shocking and tearing down every moral and ethical standard equally. Raise a generation of kids on this and take it to the extreme and you get a president Trump. It all makes sense. I would not say that everything is so serious and you can't laugh at anything, rather, get some perspective. Eventually and hopefully there will be a backlash and people will need some thought, wit, and compassion mixed in with their humor for it to be really funny.

    Artie Lange is a train wreck -- but Buck's got a cartload of his own issues -- constantly at odds w. TV sports networks from 2007 onward, bouncing around from show to show to Puppy Bowl to Jeopardy, surgical addiction involving EIGHT hair-transplant + related procedures, recurring worry about "what my wife + kids will think of me" preceding his messy 2011 divorce. All is not as it seems with this guy. Would not surprise me to learn he had a few more (substance) (kink) (abuse) skeletons in his closet. He comes off like an anorexic ballerina.

    Literally everything Joe said was a lie. Artie didn’t really care for him and thought the show was a joke, so he treated it like one. It wasn’t planned. Joe didn’t know he was going to do it.
