Very good video though controversial, Sweetheart. 🥰 I saw an unexpected reaction already. 😂 You have to show us an update on these root-trimmed specimens. I have proven this method to be great with my own plants but it’s good to show the results here. They can use fungicide or cinnamon powder in the soil mix if they prefer. It is always good to be updated on new methods that have been proven to work well and safe for our beloved plants. I loved the new outro music as well. Thank you for sharing this with us. ❤️🤗😘🥰♾❤️
Haha thank you my love, yeah somebody didn’t like, but I don’t care 😊 I will definitely do an update on these, I will do more root trimming on other plants in the future as well, controversial or not! Glad you enjoyed my love, and you like the new outro music. Thank you as always babe for all your love, support and encouragement ❤️🥰🤗😘♾❤️
Thank you my friend 😊 Yep wanted to take a few pups off as there’s a few people that want them. Root trimming is definitely good, especially on these plants. Thank you for watching and commenting as always, Seb. From Edith & myself, have a wonderful evening 🌵☀️🌺🌸🏜
What a BRILLIANT repotting video Daz :-D and we are with you 100% with pruning the roots, I do this too especially with Aloes, and Gasterias and Haworthias, a good root pruning does them good, and those octagonal bowls are gorgeous and PERFECT shape for these Aloes, and they both look FANTASTIC potted up in their wonderful new pots, amazing filming too, thanks so much for sharing Daz, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Edith lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER to England and Singapore for a wonderful Wednesday today XXXX
Thank you so much Lyn 😊 I know pruning roots on any plant could be controversial to some, but you’re right it does them good, especially on the Aloes, Haworthia and Gasteria. A lot of the top growers in Thailand do this with Astrophytum seedlings as well when they repot so they grow healthier more vigorous roots. Thank you so much for watching and commenting as always Lyn, from Edith & myself to you and Hans, have a wonderful Wednesday ❤️😊🌵☀️🌸🌺👍🏻
Really enjoyed watching this Daz. The aloe brevifolia is one of my FAVORITE ❤️aloes. Tho I do love all aloes. Great repotting. They look all nice and refreshed in their new pots and soil. 🌵❤️
Thank you Natty 😊 The brevifolia is a nice one, hopefully it’ll do much better being in the new mix. Thank you for watching and commenting as always Natty, from Edith & myself, have a wonderful day and weekend 🌵☀️🌺🌼🌸🏜
Yaye for root trimming! I have done this to my aloes many times and only recently to cactus as well. I also just do partial trimming. Rooting in my dry, arid environment takes a long time. It is a race between the plant shrivelling up fast and forming new roots. So I leave some roots on to help the plant still absorb some water while it forms new and stronger roots.
Thank you Ana 😊 I’ll be doing it with some cacti as well, especially seedlings as this helps with them growing better, stronger root systems. Some people think they have to be so careful with the roots on these plants, break one root and plant is doomed 😂 As you know I’ve even removed the entire root system off plants before because of root mealies, it didn’t take them long to grow new ones and the plants themselves are healthier than ever. Thank you for watching and commenting as always Ana, from Edith & myself, have a wonderful day 😊🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺☕️
I can imagine it would be a bit more challenging in an arid environment like Ana’s. It’s good to help stimulate root growth by misting the top soil every now and then. 😊
Yes Edith. Actually, when I root some of my pups, I put them in a partially covered container just to increase the humidity and speed up rooting. Otherwise, it will take many months before they root. Hmm... I wonder if I can root them in water? 🤔💡 😁
Cactus Caffeine i have done that with an almost dying Gymno stellatum. I submerged the desiccated roots in water but careful not to reach the bottom part of the body. It grew new roots and now is recovering. Caveat: roots grown in water is not as strong as roots grown in potting media. After a month, i potted it up in my mix and watered more frequently but lightly. ang haba ng nobela 😂
Norman Quinez, thank you 😊 Just don’t water them for at least a week after root trimming and everything will be good. Thanks for watching and commenting, have a wonderful day 🌵☀️🌺🌼🏜
I agree... I was going to mention alot of growers across the world root trim cactus etc(seen many videos) but you already mentioned that in a reply comment I saw😆 It's great practice (I think) and I do this too... a lot of my first repot cactus from store bought cactus get unintentionally root trimmed anyway with the amount of roots that come away!! 🤣 There's always positives/negatives in all that we do but I certainly agree.. it helps avoid any straggling roots left behind which could rot in the pot so a good trim helps prevent this and spur growth. I did this with all my Bonsai trees in the past because you need to develop strong fine root sytems with good feeder roots and whether it's cactus or trees, roots are roots. 👍👌🌵😁 Enjoyed this Repotting video by the way😄
Thank you so much Claire, 100% agree 😊 I’ve never lost a plant from doing this, and even removing the entire root system, these plants are survivors and will do everything to stay alive and quickly regenerate new roots. I’ve seen the results from doing this with asterias seedlings, I’ll likely do that with mine when it comes to repotting them again. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, from Edith & myself, have a wonderful afternoon and evening 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜
Thank you 😊 I wanted to get some more of these pots but unfortunately the place I got them from no longer stocks them. Thank you for watching and commenting, have a wonderful day 🌵☀️🌼🌺🌸🏜
Iris Moles I don’t recommend those pre-made cactus and succulent soils at all. I used some when I was first starting out and had nothing but issues with them and the plants hated it. Not only that but even found nasty beasties lurking inside the soil as well as bits of plastic and glass. Thank you for watching and commenting, have a wonderful day 🌵☀️🌺🌼🏜
Thank you, Molly 😊 I will sterilise and reuse any that I come to repot that are in my new mix yes, mainly because the bags of lava rock and pumice I get here aren’t cheap and it seems a waste to throw it away. Thank you for watching and commenting as always Molly, from Edith & myself, have a wonderful day 🌵☀️🌼🌺🌸🏜
@@Cactimania hi Daz! Pumice and lava rocks are expensive here too. But I'm going to use your cacti soil mix formula from now on. The gritter the better I think. Thanks! 🙏👍 Have a great day ahead, Daz and Edith 🌺🌸💐🌻🥀
Molly Cher just a caveat though, Molly. If you use the new mix for your outdoor plants, you might have to water more frequently as the mix will dry out faster. As most of Daz’s plants are indoors, he can afford to water at them less.
Sir do u keep tour bervifolia in full sun or shade. Mine one getting problem in shade any way to send u picture so tht u can suggest mine one is ok or not.
