I know this video is almost a year old but I just found it now. Great voice, information and unobtrusive background tune.
    Thanks

Great video and fun to watch.
Alright, I have some personal insight on the whole topic concerning citizenship and military affiliation.
BUND is imprinted on many issue items of the German armed forces. It’s meant to be a short term for BUNDESWEHR, which means German Armed Forces. Just as you would find the U. S. branding of your own armed forces issue items.
I have a modern day BUND pilot’s watch in my collection. There’s BUND milled on the caseback and imprinted on the strap. Even though the Third Reich Luftwaffe aircrew in your video would have worn a similar looking watch strap, the BUND version of the strap was issued later with the newly formed military of the BUNDESREPUBLIK Deutschland 🇩🇪.
Cheers from the other side of the pond.

One of my favorite things about watch collecting, a very new hobby for me, is how easily one can change the look and feel of a watch by swapping it onto a different strap. Before taking this plunge, it never occurred to me to change the strap on a watch unless the original broke or wore out.

Welcome to the hobby! Luckily there plenty of sources for any kind of strap you may want to experiment with on your collection. Wish you the best in your collecting journey!

I bought a "Bond type" NATO strap for my dive watch, but because I prefer the single pass through style, I cut off the extra loop of the strap.

    Great video.
Wearing my Ginault Ocean Rover on a CWC G10 in Nato Grey. Gives the watch that distinguished look (and probably the feeling) of a 5517.
And the fact that this particular strap is still issued to the UK Armed Forces is kind of cool :-)

Last Watch Horology Good morning. I was wondering if you do watch repairs? I’ve got a vintage hand wind Movado Triple Date and she seems to be running slow. It’ll only run for 12 hours or so. Regards.

nicely explained. not a single video has really elaborated on the inception of the Zulu strap, considered a variation of the Nato strap. I know the difference but what about the origin?

PS: Bund straps are so far from what I'd wear... yikes.

Er...wrong! the NATO was issued in Nylon and canvas form (to the RAF in particular) back in the 1950's

Unfortunately, I have yet to see anyone in public wearing a bund, they are exceptionally comfortable watch bands.

Very true man. To find a good one, especially for vintage watches is becoming a challenge also.

Last Watch Horology I used to buy them on eBay, have three or 4 around. I switched to the “cuff” who fossil for one, sells. Better coverage.
