    Well, THAT was a very well-done review video! You answered all my questions and have me checking my couch cushions (and hubby's unchecked pants pockets bound for the laundry) for extra cash. I only have my 4 sanctioned hens (and their freeloading sister and her totally UNsanctioned, raucus boyfriend) so it may not make it to the top of my "need it now" list, but you totally earned your tip! Keep making the great videos! :)

      OverEZ makes a “zero waste” feeder for half the price. It comes with some extra challenges but you might want to check those out! Best of luck! I’m glad you enjoy the content ☺️

    Omgoodness I just watched an infomercial here and loved it. 😂
    As soon as you showed both of them and the brand name I was already thinking “gonna be heckaspensive” but def going on my dream wishlist if we ever can. We were lucky, got gifted a set of huge feeder/waterer by friends who moved and weren’t getting chickens again. Hubby keeps saying we need more for the turkeys but he doesn’t realize the price. I love that these are on posts, we had a storm knock ours over and break up the rims on them. We’ve also bought things from that brand. They’re how I started with the cups for drinking, cuz my silkie chicks couldn’t do nipples, and hanging cups were like huge swimming pools to them. Coop works to the rescue!

      They’ve held up really good! I’m hoping maybe I can do some sort or raffle or giveaway in the future. Maybe when I hit some big milestone or something. Keep your eyes peeled! 😉

    Can't swing the $225, I have to build the 5 gal bucket diy no spill feeder and waterers.

      I’ve been using mine for a couple months now and I still love them. They’re holding up great and it’s nice that they can just sit out in the weather. With 26 chickens I needed to hit the easy button 😂. I hope it serves you well!

    $195.00 each....Are You Crazy?? I'm a fan and I enjoy your channel but that is just WAY TOO MUCH money for me to be spending on a chicken feeder. I'm glad you like them

      Yeah sadly they just went up from $150 where they started. I think they should have left it where it was. What’s even worse is they’ve ended free shipping….I don’t really fault you for not wanting one. I must say though….feed consumption is drastically lower. Maybe in 15 years I’ll have gotten half my money back 😅

      @Buster D Thank you for this comment. That is way too expensive. I'm just in the research phase before I actually get my chickens so I appreciate the info.

    I hang my waterer on a shepherd's hook outside of the chicken tractor. The water hose is a short distance from the waterer so I refill it every morning before I go to work. If they spill water on the ground it doesn't cause any problem because they are in a large clover patch and will be moved to a new area surrounded by my portable chicken fence when they eat enough clover. I am going to design and build a cover for the feeder that is water proof so I can leave it out also. Right now I stick it under the chicken tractor when I know that it may rain.

      I’d love to have water near my coop. I built it far from the house and no hose is reaching up there. As for the feed, I did exactly what you’re doing up until a few months ago. The nice thing about a chicken tractor is there is never a mess because you’re always moving it. I miss mine as far as that aspect of it goes!

    Easy solution: make one larger for big head chickens/rooster the other sides regular size.

      They finally got used to it! I do feel like the holes could be about an inch bigger but I guess that’s just increasing the chances of water getting in.

      Lol. I know people that used to make hundreds of dollars a month donating plasma! I don’t think it pays that much anymore but it still seems like easy money!

    We’ve had two of these silo feeders for almost 2 years now and honestly it is not great. It holds a lot sure but it’s super expensive and the spillage/drag out the chickens do is insane, we go through expensive 50lb. feed within a week and it’s all on the ground. We’ve changed the height multiple times and nothing works. Wish this was in your review.

    I'm always looking for better ways to feed/water my birds.
    But I have 3 issues with this system you got there.
    With the feeder besides for the hole size for their heads, how high off the ground it is. Not sure if all my hens could reach.
    And the waterer, the nipple system reduces the amount of water a bird will drink per day by 30%. And that's no good. They need lots of water.
    The Price is my 3rd issue. That's way too expensive.

    Great video! I’m thinking of getting these but wondering if there’s any way to heat the water in the winter?

    • @pretendfarm
      @pretendfarm  Рік тому +1

      There’s actually a notch in the back where you can run a chord through for a trough style heater. I can’t speak from experience on how good these are though the winter since they’ve never seen very cold temperatures but I’m sure the nipples would freeze up if you didn’t do anything.

    What about other types of food not just pellets? I make my chickens food, so there are alot of grains, legumes, etc. Will it not spill also?

    • @pretendfarm
      @pretendfarm  Рік тому

      Not sure about that. Generally my chickens have always made a bigger mess with crumble and mash than they have with pellets. Having said that I’ve never used those in this feeder. The big idea with the style feeders I have is that you adjust the height to a point where they can reach their heads in and peck the food, but this prevents them from dragging out the feed like they would from a hanging feeder.
