- People told me that my Any% speedruns were fake speedruns, so I decided to speedrun the entire game of Baldur's Gate 3. That means no Gale, no early ending. Every single act, including Baldur's Gate 3's boss fights. Strap yourselves in, because by the time this speedrun is done, we're going to break Baldur's Gate 3 with more glitches, bugs, and exploits than you can count on two hands.

This is exactly what speedrunning should be. Half an hour of incomprehensible arcane magic culminating in a skipped victory cutscene that is just *barely* recognizable as the evil ending. Just like the Gods intendeded.

How does he get stuck like that? It seem to be a cancelling of the Throw action, but I cannot figure out how to do it

I wish I understood some of the glitches (like why one stab from the spear killed Orin) and some of the odd choices (why did it matter to put Shart in a box right before going to the Netherbrain's pool). Is there a write-up somewhere?
@@rangerwickett If you watch live chat with the video Mae explains some of it. She promised to make a full explanation video in the future. But she is busy with college so probably not soon. The Shadowheart box I think has to do with her wanting to fight the Netherbrain with 0 companions, because it triggers less cutscenes. Or something like that.
@@rangerwickett It didn't "kill" her, she is supposed to de-transform when the Yenna HP bar hits 0, but it never does because the non-lethal passive was toggled, which also automatically knocks out the target if it goes down to 1, which sets the "Orin neutralised" flag and plays the victory cutscene. It's a really clever exploit of an oversight.
If shoving a dead shadowheart into a flaming box and yeeting it like an icbm across the map to trigger a cutscene is not the very soul and alma mater of speedrunning, then I don't know what is.

@@jamesmorris9839it’s pretty genius if I’m understanding it right. If Orin has no party members to capture, she captures Yenna. If you don’t trigger Orin’s cutscene when she pretends to be Yenna, she will STILL be Yenna, with 5 HP. If you knock her out instead of kill her, the game sees it as the enemy itself is defeated.
Fun fact if you knock out Raphael in the first act the same thing happens. You get the exp.

@@TenderNoodle it's something about you can glitch throw boxes, and if a player character (even dead) enters certain areas it triggers story cut scenes. So you throw the box through zones, it breaks because it's burning, and then the dead shadowheart triggers the cut scene.
Korilla is still trying to track Tav, for Raphael, to this day, 1 month after the nether brains defeat she decided to leave act 1 and start checking act 2.
I think the thing that surprised me most about this run was the (effective) backpack bombing of the Netherbrain at the very end, if only because it's a very mundane trick even non-speedrunners like me can easily pull off. I thought for sure there'd be some sort of truly bonkers sequence break glitch at the very end, but nope, it's just good, honest high explosives.
Setting them off with a Ray of Frost rather than a Fire Bolt was pretty funny, though. I didn't know that would work.
backpack bomb was how I beat elder brain on my second playthrough since I wanted to try and mix it up a little. I was playing with the mod that adds the artificer class from dnd 5e and used a bag of holding specifically to hold an absurd amount of explosives collected from the entire playthrough
@@williamsmith6921 There's no kill like overkill. Though I was surprised when it only took around 13 Smokepowder Bombs to blow up Ketheric phase 2. Netherbrain IIRC might have taken a few more. (This was on a solo Tactician run so I didn't have party members adding additional damage, it was just whatever I could do on my turn, plus Aylin when she wasn't tanking the floor.)
My favorite feat of explosive engineering was still probably the Halsin portal defense, though, since it didn't insta-win the fight and required a fair bit of engineering to kill as many mobs as possible. I blew up the first wave with every Smokepowder Bomb I had and punted the survivors into the lake with Roaring Thunder Arrows (again, this was solo). Baldur's Gate 3 is now my favorite minigolf game.

Those calling Any% a parody speedrun are ridiculous, but this All Act% makes for an extremely entertaining half hour.

It can be useful against Auntie Ethel too, as it'll stick to the real Ethel when she makes her illusory copies.
@@LazzyVamples You can also keep track of which one is the real one by shift clicking the portrait in the turn order. It will highlight the real one even if invisible. This trick works on everyone invisible too so you can AoE them even if you can't perceive them.
I don't really get why ppl hate on witch bolt so much it's not the best 1st level attack spell but it's definitely not the worst, succeeding one attack roll to get a guaranteed hit without line of sight for up to 10 turns has its merits. Only reason I don't use it more is because magic missile is ridiculously OP compared to 5e when you combine it with some easy to get magic items and class features

I think you missed the point. It's not that people beat it too quickly, it's that they do not consider an early joke ending as a real record. Like, yeah it's an ending, but it's not actually beating the game and you don't get the actual end cinematic/credits. Like NieR Automata: Many early endings are easy to get, even in the opening sequence. But everyone who finished the game agrees that ending E is the true ending.
The criticism is valid, even if some people that expressed it were rude. This video is much more enjoyable than the one where you toss Shadowheart's corpse and blow yourself up, at least in my opinion.
There is a reason why many games have multiple categories, e.g. Pokemon gen 1 games can be beaten in less than a minute with a save corruption glitch, but those runs are complete ass and each is exactly the same so everyone runs the categories where that glitch is banned. The act 2 BG3 speedrun isn't quite as bad but there were no runs that entered act 3 so it's very nice to see one that does

Yeah, the any% runs in Minecraft don't necessarily go to Nether at all. Current set seed record doesn't touch Nether at all and the current fastest set seed any% glitchless WR only uses Nether to travel.

Z'rell squints, before a realization dawns upon her. "Is... Is that a fucking gnome?!" She exclaims. Thorm wasn't even able to blink before he cruelly met his demise.
I'm at the beginning of Act 3 and I've too overwhelmed to continue playing. I can't believe there's so much more to get through. This run was amazing to watch.

It would actually be quite fun to have a narrated sequence of events because I didn't understand what was going on here at all. Also, it would have been fun to go over all the dialogues in this sequence and to see how the story develops in a hurry, just not as big of a hurry. :)

How did you pick up and carry lord gortash? I didnt even know that was a mechanic lmao.
You can even do it without any whacky glitches by just selecting him as a melee weapon and teleporting away before your character puts him down. It's really easy to teleport to the waypoint on the bridge and throw him off to his death, and it doesn't even feel like a glitch lmfao
There are few things that make me as happy as non-speedrunners complaining about how they think speedruns of games are invalid, when done by speedrunners, in the appropriate category, according to the rules agreed upon by the speedrun community 😅
