Thank you for your huge effort. Both narrative, visuals and detailed information are great. We are eagerly waiting 3rd episode of your Napoleon documentary!!!!
Great narration and content...Thank you...NB seems to be worthy as well as lucky...Egypt visit...Overambitious or otherwise...Will always remain a subject of debate...
There was no long term strategy in going to Egypt. However, as the narrator indicated, it allowed Napoleon to “practice” statecraft and ruling over a people. Great leaders often emerge because events play out in favorable ways. The man that left to Egypt did not foresee becoming emperor of France 🇫🇷 but upon his return he saw that a path had been cleared for him.
I watched the movie admittedly uneducated on the subject and thought it was pretty good But after watching just these 2 videos I don't think it did the man any justice at all
Napoleon knew the importance of PR and introduced the army corps, much faster and capable to function on his own to keep the enemy locked in their position while a bigger force could help out eliminate the enemy resistance.
The video goes on at length about the theft committed of the cultural heritage of Italy. It should be noted that the maxim of Rome was "Victori sunt spolia", or to the victor goes the spoils, and it was a time honored tradition. If you have any doubt go on a tour of the Vatican. It doesn't even display all the 'spoils' that it's collected from all over the world. Obviously the rules of war are the lowest of the rules, but they are also the foundation of them. It is difficult to point any fingers at foundational characters of History while not totally being ready to give up everything that they've stolen. (just the things that don't affect you). For example all of North America is stolen from it's prior inhabitants, so it's convenient to say that land can be stolen, but paintings must be returned.
To be fair, considering the massive level of looting and cultural destruction that the Venetians engaged in prior to this, especially during the sacking of Constantinople, you could say that at least in Venice's case it was a bit of karma in action. On the subject of returning land it's a complicated subject. Plenty of current day nations are living on "stolen land" where they either outright slaughtered the original inhabitants, drove them out or just assimilated them over time, in many cases against their will (so I don't use words that would get this comment yeeted by the algorithm). What land gets returned and to whom? Where do you move the people living there who have little to do with the original invaders besides in most cases sharing a culture or skin colour. Who reimburses these people that you drive out? Who continues to take care of the infrastructure in the now "liberated" lands? Especially in cases like the native Americans where the original population is massively reduced? Something like this just raises too many questions and problems to be feasible.
@@xKinjax The colonial system of stealing from whoever can't stop you, underpins western society, so much so that if you take those pins out it's a little like KerPlunk. We are a society based on taking, so much so that someone like Elon, who is smart enough to see the implications, is building rockets to go to a new planet, in order to continue the system of pillaging. Unfortunately, it's a bit like walking out further and further on a branch. When you get to the top, the moon is just a wee bit further than you might expect.
This maybe an irrevelant question but on the map on 1:38 the map shows a Holy Roman Empire and also shows Saxony, Bohemia, Brandenburg, Bavaria, Prussia and Austria and I thought these were all part of the Holy Roman Empire so why is it like that, why are some of the states are not explicitly specified and just displayed as Holy Roman Empire and the others are explicitly shown with their names and borders?
Good video, i commend whom ever did the research,Napoleon in the East India Company would have had interesting consequence;s for all of Asia.I would liked more focus on the mechanic's of the battles not just Marengo .
"On the 7 March, French forces managed to capture the city. For the pillaging of the city, the rape and murder of its civilian population by Napoleon's troops, and the execution of the Ottoman prisoners of war, the siege of Jaffa has been called "one of the most tragic episodes of [Napoleon's] Egyptian campaign."

Napoleon had no great admiration of Mohammed and any supposed affections he expressed were merely a conquerors utterances to cement the tyrannical hand he applied. If he had invaded India he would have proclaimed the enlightenment of Hinduism, if Tibet Buddhism and if Japan Shintoism, it was all about the end result afterall.
I love Napoleon and what he achieved during his life but as an Italian, Northern Italian to be exact, his army looting of our cultural artworks is disgraceful to say least. France should give all of it back, I find it to be insulting that they still own many of OUR collections, this is not something that make my appreciation and admiration for Napoleon go away, but it's something that I can't and won't ever forgive, all wars destroyed part of European countries culture, especially WW2 but many items which are stil intact and are of our ownership should be given back immediately, it's not only fault of Napoleon but of everyone who came after in this regard.

I like this narrators voice!
It's softer for bedtime❤
I’d rather watch this than the movie!
A 100%! ... First "movie" I wasn't able to sit and multitask with, too much going on and to pay attention to and just so exciting most of the time!
Id rather watch it in a series
"Napoleon , A life" By Andrew Roberts is excellent.
The anticipation of this video was like waiting for ketchup to come out of the bottle. Slow but so worth it.
Thank you ❤😊
“From Austria to Egypt to Italy, if you wanted something done he was the man to see!”
Thank you always for these video
Absolutely awesome. I like how you sum up this entire video at the end.
Thank you for producing yet another fantastic video. I adore this period of history, and your hard work is doing it justice. Really impressive work.
The best autobiographic channel!
For real puts most of these history channels nowadays to shame.
They aren't autobiographies. Autobiographies are written by the historical figures (the subjects) themselves.
This one is so much better than any of the other youtube vids on napolean
Finally!!! 😂 been going crazy waiting
Thank you for your huge effort. Both narrative, visuals and detailed information are great. We are eagerly waiting 3rd episode of your Napoleon documentary!!!!
Thank you. You have but a few hours to wait.

26:06 Literally me fr
can you make a video about the Portuguese king john ii the perfect prince?
Yea.... who would've guessed that napoleon deserved many parts.
Ultimately, when anyone gets a little taste of power, they abuse it.
Please do videos about notorious people of the Three Kingdoms, such as Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Ce, Ma Chao, Yuan Shao and so on! It would be epic!
Can you do Viktor bout the arms Dealer! Big part of Russian and terrorise history
Just finished the movie. Time to learn the truth :)

Napoleon the General
They need to make a assassin creed game based on this.
👍👍
Also people of 20th century and 1st century to 15th century
If he doesn't invade Russia he would of been Emperor of all of Europe...
Like so many others. Nobody learns that a land war in Russia is a loss
Except for Germany who literally defeated them in a land battle in world war 1 lol@@RedBishopGaming
Also let's not act like more and more coalitions wouldnt of happened to stop him
@@michaeldeww battles are part of wars... not the entire war
@@RedBishopGaming Russia surrendered WW1 and peaced out lol

Yes, many atrocities happened on both sides.
👍
Robespierre the original Stalin.
I am not a Napoleon sympathiser nor I shall ever be but that will not wash clean others
They should’ve locked Napoleon in the Tower of London and charged people £100 to play a game of chess with him.
👉🎺🤸
Hi there , its a pity that he couldn't keep his thing in his pants.😮
Theft? Ok. But what is the thing done by the british in Egypt or India? Civilising mission ...they say. In fact is the same thing Napoleons men did
