Thanks so much, been a bit of trial and error but I think I have my perfect setup now. I can strip it down further too for when I do destination weddings and need to be even more minimal
Great overview, really helpful. I currently use Rode wireless pro with the 32bit float, but find them quite annoying to use. May consider switching to purely Sony tx660
Thanks for watching Jacob, I've got a set of the Rode 2 wireless ones, find them super handy for corporate work but I do worry about radio interference during a wedding. I've experimented with so many different audio setups but always seem to find myself coming back to the trusty TX650 for weddings.
Thanks man, with the tripods I just make sure to place them where people are unlikely to have to move to. But if I do need to position them where they could be knocked over I speak to the guests close by so they are aware of them.
@@roo_films I figured as much. Wasn't sure if you sandbagged them somehow, or something similar. I've done a fair number of events with people around that may be enjoying a bit of libations, and it's always scary having a few thousand dollars sitting vulnerable, lol
Hey mate, this is the one from the video which is great but not the most hardwearing it already has quite a few rips: amzn.to/49mrXK0 I'm considering this one next as it has separate compartments to stop the tripods bashing against each other: amzn.to/3uPfbEz
Do you ever get the fear of kit getting nicked, when you have to leave it somewhere whilst you're running around? Obviously there's insurance but I still struggle to abandon kit sometimes when working solo!
I don't worry too much to be honest, most venues I shoot are private hire. I do hide my gear when it's not in use though, mainly so its' not an eye sore for the guests. If anything like that was to happen (something getting stolen) I could still shoot a whole wedding with the contents of my leather satchel that stays with me at all times. One camera, my Sony mics and spare batteries are all I need if push came to shove
Nice Solo shooter equipment...I have that Cobra monopod but there is no way I would leave my FX30 mounted on it and unattended....nope! Too risky. Thanks for the video
@@roo_films The FX30 is light-maybe the same as your A7Siii...but I don't trust any monopod to be solid enough to stay balanced with a camera on top...too many people around...but I have several tripods instead.
@@pyroBlastM yes I had one wedding in particular where I blew the highlights during the ceremony and it would have been great to have more exposure flexibility in post, so the next wedding I gave log a go and now I LOVE it. Most of the films are a7s3 but some of the older ones will be A73
It's just not a thing in the UK. Venues just have rubbish sound systems where even the staff don't know where the access to them is. People don't hire in sound tech s and engineers like they do in the States
In the UK most venue staff don’t even know where the sound desk is. It’s usually an integrated system that has been installed in a ‘set it and forget it’ manner. There is rarely an external person handling the sound on a wedding da like in the states for example, it’s always just using the Venues built in system.
How many assistants do you work with? setting up three cameras, lights, tripods etc. is very time consuming when you are trying to capture all points of the event.
I shoot all my weddings alone, no assistants. This video shows how I mange a whole wedding day from start to finish: ua-cam.com/video/79myecDw1sQ/v-deo.html
I use LED panels, mainly for the dance floor. This video shows you exactly how I work on a wedding day and how I use my lights: ua-cam.com/video/79myecDw1sQ/v-deo.html
Thumbs up for the rubber band battery trick!
Yeah such a simple yet effective method
I like your kit dude, Everything you need for a wedding you have in a very small bag(well 3 bags). Much to learn from you.

Impressive all the stuff that fit in your backpack. And the rest of your leather bag too. Awesome, keep rolling! 📹
Thanks for watching

Nice section!
Great stuff Roo
Thanks so much for watching Simon, definitely considering upgrading my feet for the monopod after having a play with yours.
Great and informative! Thank you for sharing your set up 👍
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching
great video and behind the scenes insight
thank you so much
Amazing Video Men .
alot of gears to set up and to get the shot .
Thanks for watching
That Victiv tripod looks great, the K&F ones are sometimes a bit too short. Might have to get one of those
Yes love it, can't justify swapping out my other two tripods for that model yet but I will def do if any break
Great Video!!
Thanks for watching
Very helpful video again! ❤ do you record always simultaneously on your camera?
Yes to two cards simultaneously
@@roo_films thanmyou!!!!
Hi roo! Did you consider using gimbals on your wedding films?:)
Great video, brother! How do you keep people from knocking your tripods over?

@@roo_films Cheers dude. I'll take a look into the Neewer one
thank you for posting....are you using any sort of NDs?
Thank you, no I don't use ND filters, I just crank the shutter if I need to
Nice gear! In wich color profile do you usually film?
PP off

Yeah it's fine with my a7siii, I'm guessing that's much lighter?

Where did you get that foam wind muffin for the TX650? I cannot find one anywhere 🤦♂️
Hey Stephen, the link for these is in the video description. They come in a pack of 20. I lose an average of 3 per wedding I reckon
how has that mke 400 been treating you?
Really like it, the battery last for ages and the audio quality is great
What did you put on the tx recorders to help with the rustling sound of clothing?
They're called furniture bumpers, its these things:

Roo do you shoot slog or camera profile?
So in all my films currently online and UA-cam, they were shot with PP off. But I am now shooting Slog 3 on this years weddings
@@roo_filmsany particular reason why you have started doing this? All these videos on your YT were recorded with the a7s3?

Do you only do handheld shots?
Yes, all B-Roll is handheld. Ceremony and Speeches are a mixture of monopod and tripod
why do you not get access to the decks?
It's just not a thing in the UK. Venues just have rubbish sound systems where even the staff don't know where the access to them is. People don't hire in sound tech s and engineers like they do in the States

Great video but i wouldnt say its a minimal setup 🙃
Yes I could definitely condense this down to a two camera set up if required
well this doesn't looks like a "minimalist gear" ; )
No lights? I wouldn't hire anybody who doesn't bring at least a 60w light

Bro which video camera best for wedding shoot ..
I love the a7siii. If I was on a budget I'd probably go for a second hand a7iii
