I was also able to replace the battery on my Giulietta. Thank you for sharing your skills. I would like to express my gratitude from Japan. Thank you very much.
Thanks. That was all clear. I’ve just done this with ease after watching your video a bunch of times. I just ordered the same battery as you using the link. Thanks for all the info! Start stop seems to be fixed now and the same issue with the passenger airbag.
Changed the battery on my Wife's Alfa last night, "Brownie Points for me" Error Codes galore...followed your vid, problem solved "Brownie Points for me" 👊😂 Thank you for the solve.
Great stuff. Thanks for sharing this with me. It’s success stories like this that make it worth doing for me. Enjoy the trouble free starts in the morning now. All the best 👍
Wish I saw this yesterday before trying to search for it on forums; wasted 1 hr. I just disconnected the battery cause I noticed the front right brake pad wear indicator cable has snapped. As I don't like working with cabling with power on, I took the negative off from the battery. Then when I went in the car it was like Christmas with all lights and beeps, and everything relating to VDC. Seems I have inadvertently fixed by doing what you've done...was just checking that I have full steer... after a 5 min slow drive in the neighborhood and a stop and start, all was well again.
I just changed the battery last week. The old one - oryginal Excide Heavy Duty worked fine for a 8 years. I have to do this because the old one had the low voltage and the ECU automatically increased the idle speed to the 1000 rpm.
Awesome, just realizing the + cover is missing on my battery... Should probably get one....damn expensive though...around 30 plus shipping...crazy...great video...
Ciao Tony I would like to charge my S&S battery. Now the manual says that I should unplug the negative cable in this case. I would prefer not to do this in order to avoid all the error messages. What do you think? Many thanks for the many and very helpful videos
Ciao. I charged mine on Monday night with the battery still connected. After 1 hour on charge I took it for an hours drive. It started perfectly the following morning. Hope that helps. All the best 👍
Thanks for the vids Tony. Ive had to replace my battery on my 2010 2.0 jtdm after the car had stood for months. I did the steering wheel fanve but my odometer is flashing constantly. Any ideas? 🤔
Sounds like the blue & me module for connecting your phone to the audio. These often go faulty. May be able to resolve it by disconnecting and reconnecting the battery again or simply (if you have it) connecting the Multiecuscan software, and clearing the codes. If it is genuinely faulty, then it is possible o programme it out out the system using the Multiecuscan and performing a Proxi alignment. Or buy a new one, but you’d still need to do Proxi alignment. Best bet is to get the fault codes read first though as that will tell you what the issue is. Flashing Odo normally means something has gone bad on the ‘Canbus’ line. Hope that helps. All the best 👍
Hi Tony. I've recently changed by battery in MY2016 and the time & date are flashing. I did check with the SET button but there is no such an option in menu! Would you know how can I update the time and date to the correct values?
Hi Aris. If it’s not done by the buttons to the right (as in the video) then you may have an option from the central screen (assuming you have one?). If it’s not evident, then your vehicle handbook should have the instructions for your car, if it’s different to mine. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. All the best. 👍
@@vialettotony Thank you Tony. I had a blue & me radio however I have changed it to an aftermarket one! I will check the handbook just in case. All the best.
I have a 2.0L diesel, had all electrics including radio, ac and power steering cut out 10 seconds after starting and now the battery is flat and car won’t start on its own, any ideas ? Could a battery replacement do the trick?
Hi. Is there any power when you turn the ignition on? And when you try and start does it turn over, click, or nothing? Could be a battery, but if it was running and then stopped, sounds more like something else. If you have a multimeter you could measure the battery voltage. Sometimes the Giuliettas suffer from a bad earth connection, which is under the battery tray if I recall correctly. Also battery terminals can be an issue too. I did a video on replacing mine which has helped a lot of people. Good luck. All the best 👍
Hello Tony Thank you for your videos. Quick question, how can I set the time and date. I tried using the set/esc button but when I click on date I go back to the previous menu Any advices please
Hi Hamza. Sounds a bit odd for sure. It is definitely done from the three buttons so not sure why it’s not working. I’ll see if I can put a quick video together soon. All the best 👍
Thanks allot Tony, last time I modified it I used the OK button in the radios to access the time but since then I installed a 3rd party Android post and now there's no more OK button
Hi JJ. You should be able to get them from any local car parts supplier, like Euro Car Parts, Bennett’s, etc. If you walk in, they normally have these sort of fixings and panel clips etc hanging on racks in the receptions. Failing that, trusty Amazon should yield a result. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching. 👍
I removed the battery to try to reset a check engine I got straight after putting in Shell fuel. It’s the lambada sensor. Came on once before. I ordered a cheap scan tool that can reset codes. See if it works.
Did the passenger airbag keep switching its self off before you put new battery in? Mine does this currently and has start stop not working also. Noticed it was off in your video. Was this due to weak battery?
Hi Cran. Yes absolutely. This apparently is one of the Alfa programming items. The new battery fixed it straight away. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching and subscribing if you have. Really appreciate it. All the best. 👍
@@vialettotony yeah about time I got a new battery then to protect the passenger. The interesting thing was I see battery is 570amp. While all the ones it suggests to buy are 700 or 720. Hi Julius. Check to make sure all the connections on the battery terminals are okay, even the ones you didn’t have to loosen. Other than that you could try checking the fuses. Good luck with it. 👍
Hi. No ideas really, other than check all connections, then check all relevant fuses. I think the radio is fed from under the steering column. Hope that helps. All the best 👍
Hi Isaac. Not sure it will be linked directly to the battery, but it may be that it’s working more efficiently if it’s able to get more power. If it’s the outdoor air temperature then this is a common failure on the Guiliettas too unfortunately. The sensor is in the Drivers door wing mirror. Have a quick search online and you’ll find quite a bit on it. One of the joys of owning an Alfa 🙄. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment and subscribing (if you have). I really appreciate it. Let me know how you get on. All the best, have a great day.
Yes thank you mate I love the videos, I needed a new battery all along. Do you know much about the neutral gear position sensor ?? It disables my DNA system. Thanks pal
Hi Calum. Thank you so much. Really appreciate the positive feedback. The gear position sensor is indeed a common problem. It is doable at home, but the connection underneath can be problematic. Some people prefer to remove a section of the exhaust to gain easier access. It can be a lot simpler to get your local garage to do it as they’ll do it a lot quicker with a ramp. Hope that helps. All the best.
My pleasure. I want to be able to help people by doing things myself, for everyone to see. It's great to know people appreciate it. I'm hoping to tackle the wiring loom to the rear lights that are out this weekend. Look out for the video.

Hi... I don't have one personally, but from feedback they seem to be. The biggest issue seems to be the Multiair unit which should be maintained with good servicing. I hope that helps. All the best 👍
I will add that there are two sides to it. Mechanically all the 1.4s are very robust and can take 300k miles no problem. HOWEVER You need to service it well - the factory recommended oil change intervals are insane. Absolute maximum is 10k miles and really you should change every 6-7k miles. The Multiair unit can go as early as 30-40k miles if you skimp on oil changes - or it can last the lifetime of the engine. Count on replacing it once to be safe. Then don't stretch those oil intervals again and it should be fine.

Who is the enginering that put the slot battery near water for the window?
Gotta love Italians.
In my Giulietta you need to re-calibrate the auto up and down on the power windows after you disconnect the battery.
