    I watched all of you accounts regarding the Greek Civilization and i must admit that I am utmost impressed about the way you managed to present that complex period (considering all the years, concepts and characters involved) in such a simple and pleasant manner and it was very easy understanding everything because you used that TIMELINE everytime making the historical links more clear. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS! Keep up the good work,

    When you are talking about government, you didn't touch on Solon, the Father of Democracy. the man whose idea it was to try this form of government. I don't know if its because you think he is not important, or anything, but I think it would be worth touching on if you make any future vids on this. Just sharing some thoughts! Keep up the good work!

    Fifth-century Athens is the Greek city-state of Athens in the time from 480 BC-404 BC, which is a weird convention because I would think that Fifth-century means 400 AD-499 AD.

    The fall of Byzantium vastly triggered and fueled Renaissance and erventually the Enlightenment, for through Byzantine scholars who fled to Europe and all educational European centers, this knowledge was rediscovered by the western Europeans.

    The name of the Cynic philosophy isn't to do with being "dog like", though they did use that concept. It comes from the Cynosarges gymnasium, where Antisthenese originally taught, which just happens to mean "Place of the white dog". It's a coincidence, not the origin.

    It wasn't Islam that taught the Italians Ancient Greek Culture, it was Byzantine Greeks fleeing Islam. Did you let your mask slip, or is this an honest mistake?

    Pythagoras' father was a Phoenician merchant from Tyre. Pythagoras was half Phoenician, half Greek. We should learn this in schools.

      His father was named Mnesarchus and historians don't actually know for certain where he was from. He could be from Samos or Syria. The version that has more evidence to back it up is that he was from Samos. You can actually read that in the book of Apollodorus and Porfirious

    Herodotus was not Greek by birth. He was born in Halicarnassus and lived there until he was exiled by Artemis.

    • @angrybirdo
      @angrybirdo 3 роки тому

      Halicarnassus was a Greek city. Herodotus is a historical person and we have his written work. He was Greek. Artemis is a goddess in Greek mythology not a real person, she didn’t exile anyone because she didn’t exist.

      Our DNA hasn't changed! A recently researched from genetic professor Konstantinos Triantafyllides has prove it.

    • @qbslug
      @qbslug 7 років тому

      Greece has been invaded and occupied for centuries by different nationalities (mostly Ottoman empire) so it is logical to conclude that their gene pool has been altered. Any genetic test can only compare modern genes of different geographies so that doesn't help with this question and certainly wouldn't be direct evidence unless you have many samples of ancient DNA.

Some impurities have normally happened.I know my history .Because we were occupied this doesn't mean that 100% of Greek gender mixed with ottoman's gender!!And this is the conclusion of the research!

      That isn't a peer reviewed science journal article. I can't even find
      info anywhere else about the author. I don't think you fully understand
      what I am saying. Any genetic study making claims about genetic
      continuity spanning 2500 years has to use some fundamental and flawed assumptions that some groups of people were isolated and didn't have migration or intermarriage (even rape). The genetic studies I have seen involving greeks claim evidence of greeks spreading their genes to other areas. Hard to believe this genetic spread would only go in one direction. Very unlikely for 2500 years. I never even said the Greeks became 100% mixed (whatever that even means). I am stating that it is naive to think they are exactly the same on average as the ancients since they were invaded and occupied for so long.
