Why does most of the time, Poseidon is always depicted as younger than Zeus? Like I mean dark hairs and such whereas Zeus is all grey/white? Is he the older brother of Zeus?
Zeus is either the youngest or the middle brother with Hades or Poseidon being the oldest. The original art shows Zeus woth dark Brown hair, but modern media insist on making him look like old dude since he is sky god and for some reason most people think sky god= old guy
He is in most versions older than Zeus, but they are gods and so their appearence is not limited to human biology - and depicting Zeus as older is mostly just an artistic choice to present him more as the patriachalic leader of the gods.
It's because Zeus is older than the rest of his siblings. True, he was originally the youngest of them all, but because he wasn't the only one who didn't get eaten by their father Kronos, Zeus aged while his older sibs (who were trapped in Kronos' belly at the time) didn't age. They got "reborn" when Zeus had them spat out by Kronos. That's how Zeus is originally the youngest of them all but also the eldest one. At least this is trivia that I got from playing Immortals: Fenyx Rising (great game!)
@@rensalazar This top comment above mine people, this top comment above mine here settles many disputes on the topic of why Zeus looks older, and is younger at the same time. Firstborn male god of the three was Hades, followed by Poseidon as the second male, then Zeus was the youngest of them all. But he became the oldest due to, well, the comment above explains it very well.
I get why the Athenians would vote in such a way(It's because the life of men and women are too different), but here's something ridiculous, Olympians were treated the same regardless of gender(I believe is most likely) and that is why it is ridiculous that all Male ones voted Poseidon and all females voted Athena(It is kinda realistic I guess, but still ridiculous)
There are apparently many variations on this myth. One I have read claims that the Gods of Olympus voted on who should ultimately name "Athens". The gods were always fighting one another. They apparently hated each other. Hades hated Zeus and Poseidon (the Big 3 Brothers were Zeus, Poseidon and Hades) because he was given the worst job of all. I'm not sure that this myth is that much different than the others... or that Poseidon and Athena hated one another any less or more as a result of this competition. I find the stories enlightening and interesting because they represent our history and our past and perhaps even our future in some respects. These are real stories in a real world.
It has always made logic to me that they have disliked one another. As Athena was the deity of tact and intelligence, the Sea, the domain of Poseidon, is notorious for its capriciousness. They are diametrically opposed.

Athens really wasn't that big of deal esp compared to Sparta
Poseidon deserved better.
No wonder Athena and Poseidon have so much beef in the Odyssey.
Nice illustration!
Poseidon is pretty epic
Can you do ariadne and dionysus pllsss
Athena is said to be as strong as Zeus, so Poseidon doesn't stand a chance against her.
well poseidon is athena's uncle
@@georgeafg9252 probably due to Zeus domain of the sky I think he is young but with white hair to match the clouds.
Yes another history of the lost land of ATLAS also the name of a real person 20000 years ago
I like this channel. Pls do videos on Indian epics too
Where can I get the comics?
Poseidon lost, so his name was secretly changed to Pussydone, Athena calls him that starting that day.
