    Tom, I have wanted a Kamado for a while. I had a Charbroil Kamander ordered but they discontinued them and No go... I really would like a Weber BUT I don't want to sell body parts to pay for it. lol You keep videoing this AutoKamado and I am liking it more each time. Nice looking Brisket. I am 11 1/2 hours in a 18.6# pork shoulder right now with NO sleep... Happy Memorial Day Tom

    Thanks for your videos. Why couldn't you put the stainless diffuser in upside down to put your water pan on?

    Looks great Tom, nice bend! I think your smoke ring on this brisket is just fine. Besides, I haven't met anyone yet that can taste a smoke ring. Harry Soo has a video showing how to get a smoke ring on ribs while cooking them in the oven (or enhance the ring in your pit) by using Morton's Tender Quick or Pink Curing Salt.

    How does it do with direct heat grilling? Can you take the diffuser plate out and cook right over the fire? The regular akorn is great for direct heat.

    Hey Tom, maybe a silly question,but can you still low and slow without the diffuser plate so that you have some of that fat dripping on the coals for old fashioned bbq flavor. Thank you and just love your channel. 😊👍

    Hey Tom! Got a set up question for you! Preparing to do a test run for a thanksgiving turkey, will need 7-9 hours of cook time at 225° to get the bird done. How much fuel do we need for that long of a cook?

    • @TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ
      @TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ  Рік тому

      Thanks for Watching! So many variables to determine that, since the thing you want is to have the fire go out just fill it up. After you use this a couple times for longer cooks you’ll see what a fuel miser it is

      @@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ i was just looking for a base line , i have never used a Kamado grill before , i have been using a 200 gallon ,harbor pit works smoker , going from that to a auto kamado , is what i call downsizing , i was use to chopping tree's down, to old for that now to load the fire box, that box was huge, a kamado is something completely different for me

  • @RicardoLandinginJr

    Do you have to clean out the coal every after use or can you just leave it for next use ? Does the fire go out once you turn off the Kamado? I’m thinking of getting this or one of that gravity series, I have Akorn already and love it but I’m lazy so I’m thinking gravity series might work better

    Tom, when you do low temperatures between 200 and 225 do you get bitter smoke? I had a metal komando and it was terrible. It just smoldered at low temperatures. Didn't take me long to get rid of it.

    • @TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ
      @TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for Watching Roy! Metal wouldnt make a difference, the shape is the same as a ceramic. Sounds to me like you didn’t have your vents set up correctly and that’s why it smoldered or you had some bad charcoal. The Auto Kamado with its built in blower will help anyone get the vent set up correct since the blower does the work for you and you don’t need to guess which vent setting is correct for low and slow. I’ve got many other videos that prove that, all with phenomenal results. Here’s a couple for you…hope this helps…

    Amount of smoke has nothing to do with the smoke ring. It’s a chemical reaction that causes the smoke ring. People have actually gotten the sought after ring using an oven.
