Great video as always Tom! I got my first Char-Griller Akorn about 12 years ago and lost it to a divorce lol. Then I bought a second one about 6 years ago and lost it to the weather (no covered patio). I actually bought an Auber PID for the first one and kept it for the second one to do exactly what the new Auto Akorn does. I fell in love with Kamado cooking many years ago and with this new advancement I will definitely be looking into getting back into it.
I also have an Auber PID with my Akorn (almost 10 years) and have loved it. However, with this new Auto Akorn, there is no way to use it as just a regular grill. I hate all the extra attachments with my setup, but at least I can use the grill without the electronics. I will have to consider if this new all-in-one will work.
Think the 16" stone is the best size, would a larger one possibly block too much air flow around the edges? And for a take and bake, how would you say the difference in flavor and texture is compared to say just running it in the oven?
great video Tom!!!: I'm really interested in this grill, I would like to see if you could cook something hot and fast with no diffuser, maybe burgers or a thin steak like skirt steak to see how this baby performs. again thank you for your excellent videos
I love Papa Murphy's. Thanks again for a great video. Keep em rolling Tom! Would love to see more Weber Mods. I am a weber nut haha. I have a performer, premium kettle and Jumbo Joe. Love em all.
Hey Tom great video. I love Papa Murphy’s pizza. My one attempt at getting it off of that baking tray ended in failure. How did you get it off of there and onto the peel?
So many grills you have tested and used. So many Choices.. Tom Horsman, what grill would choose if you could only purchase one. To make it easy, pick three. Thank you.
Does this has water proofing to it since there’s controls ? I use my Akron during winter with umbrella just wondering if this will hold up during Midwest winter bbq
Thanks for Watching Paul, I need to do a video on this subject, they both can perform the same although the Kamado won’t burn as much charcoal as the 980
Looks great!
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching! Agreed on the stone! I believe the crust comes out better on the grill as opposed to the oven
Getting a "take in bake" pizza is a great idea, thanks for the Tips!
Thanks for Watching! I like them…
I usually grab one from Costco for like 8bux. they are great for a quick meal on the smoker or bbq
Agreed! Thanks for Watching
Love your videos, Tom. Looking forward to cooking with this grill.
Thanks for Watching Matt!
Thanks Tom, great video as always.
Thanks for watching!

Thanks for Watching Fred! You already know the answer….
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ No, I don't know your answer. LOL I am looking forward to the video of your trip to the Weber factory.
Lol! So am I Fred! They are still coordinating……
What do you think about that Kettle Joe I see in the background?
Thanks for watching James! It is interesting, I prefer the auto Kamado

Pizza looks awesome Tom 👌👌👌
Thanks for Watching! It was!
Wow that’s great 🍕🍕
Thanks for watching Eric!
YES!!! Great video. Question, while at that temp, can you still touch the outer part of the lid?
Thanks for Watching! It is warm, not for long
looks delicious. that's my theory and i'm stickin' to it.
Lol! Thanks for Watching Kevin! Me too!
Is there a sensor that tells the controller when the lid is open so the fan doesn’t run? Or will the fan run even when the lid is open?
Thanks for watching! Yes
How long was the overall cook time. I’m afraid of leaving the pizza in for too long 😬
Thanks for watching Alex! All depends on the temp, what I’ve found is that no 2 pizzas cook the same, I would start looking after about 2 minutes
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ okay and do you place the cardboard in the grill to? The one the pizzas come on?
I do not
Great video! What the hottest this grill temp can can get up to?
Thanks for Watching Jared! 700
Thumbs up to Papa Murphy and you!
Thanks for Watching Jim!
Does this has water proofing to it since there’s controls ? I use my Akron during winter with umbrella just wondering if this will hold up during Midwest winter bbq
Thanks for watching Ricardo! I would cover the controller to protect it against rain and snow
Tom,,, does the fan have a turbo mode like the 980???
Thanks for watching! It does not, don’t really think there is a need for one
Uncle Tom, any thoughts on this vs the 980 and MB? I'm in the market for a grill
Thanks for watching Kevin! Hard to compare. Ones a kamado the other is not
Have you tried out your USB adapter and the battery pack with the Auto Kamado yet?
Thanks for watching! I have not, But will try In an upcoming video
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ thanks Tom! Really enjoying the recent reviews of the Auto Kamado! Keep up the great work
Thank you
How do we see the chuck roast video you talked about in the beginning of the video?
Thanks for watching! Good question, waiting on Chargriller to release it on their channel
I’ll be doing a brisket flat on it this weekend…
Auto Kamado or Chargriller 988? Any thoughts other than overall size?
Thanks for Watching Paul, I need to do a video on this subject, they both can perform the same although the Kamado won’t burn as much charcoal as the 980
Nice Looking Unit. Pizza came out nice, Do they mention burping grill when you open lid so you don't have flash fire?
Thanks for Watching John! If the blower is going then no
Also no bottom vent so no influx of quick oxygen..
Tom was that pizza thawed out before you put it in?
Thanks for watching! It wasn’t a frozen pizza
Will it cook a frozen pizza at lower temp @ still not burn pizza crust up before pizza is done? Thank's
Thanks for Watching Brian! I believe it would
Leave the diffuser out when cooking pizza the stone is the diffuser
Thanks for Watching James!
Do you sell any of your grill’s?
Thanks for watching! Sometimes
