Pretty sure the LaserDisc transfer of Flash Gordon is the same one used for the Image DVD. I always heard that there was an issue with the American release of the movie looking darker than the UK release, even in its theatrical run. The new 4K edition thankfully resembles the UK prints that doesn’t darken the vibrant colors.
My favorite B film of all time. I will always love this film..... other fav b films are Big Trouble in little China, The Last Dragon and Forbidden Planet.. was a treat to see you go over this neat version
According to director Paul W. S. Anderson his movie Soldier has a link to Blade Runner, as the soldiers were originally meant to be a version of Nexus that existed in Off World Colonies, but it was changed when the script was rewritten.
Thanks for keeping us informed on the collection, a nice way to hear of some interesting titles on the format. You keep mentioning laser rot with worrying frequency; I used to think that was just a thing that happened to some unfortunate (and esp early) pressings. But now I'm getting the impression that a fairly substantial percentage of all things that ended up on laserdisk were such unfortunate pressings?
Speaking of Schwarzenegger films that don't get much love, the last time I mentioned like Eraser, someone accused me for having no taste. I wasn't aware liking Eraser apparently makes me look like the bad guy.
I love these laserdisc reviews Oliver, the Supergirl cover is really good and I agree Dark City should get a Arrow Video release, I would get that! They are doing an Arrow release on The Cell (2000) next year that I'm going to pick up! 👍
I have a Japanese laser disc I need transfering to digital. Do you or anyone recommend anyone to achieve this? Thank you very much. I'm based in the U.K
This channel and Damn Fool Idealistic Crusader got me into laserdiscs. End of Days is a fantastic film but it doesn’t feel like an Arnie film so I’d say Eraser was the last great one. I like Sixth Day tho it’s just not as good as Eraser.
Hello I have a collection of over 2000-3000 Laserdiscs with almost all of them being widescreen editions. The collection includes plenty of deluxe, special editions, and few rare titles. I’m considering selling it. If you are interested let me know.
@ Based in India, My dad imported these back in 2000’s. But I can get these shipped to you if you’re interested. My brother owns an international shipping company. PS: none of the titles seem to be Japanese.
I have a small collection of LDs (90-100 total). Always willing to trade or sell if you're interested. All are U.S. releases. Gladly would send a list with pics. I'm located in the U.S. Thanks Oliver.
Dark City is one of my favourite films and so underrated. Saw it at cinema and loved it with the music churning all the time in the background 😁
Love seeing interesting classic movies on laserdisc like these mate
The flying in supergirl looks more real than the flying scenes in modern super hero films.
The tall guy in the video shop was me ! Glad you made good use of Flash Gordon Oliver 🙌🏼
Ah Phill! Thanks for the reminder! Just subbed to your channel mate.
@ thanks for the sub mate, appreciated ✌🏼

I remember Kurk Russel Soldier going straight to Video in England back then
No joke, you have one of the best UA-cam channels. Thank you for all of your amazing content.

“Be careful what you shoot at. Most laserdiscs here don't react too well to bullets."
Starship Troopers and Soldier are extremely loosely linked 😅 Legit. Shared universe in fan canon.
According to director Paul W. S. Anderson his movie Soldier has a link to Blade Runner, as the soldiers were originally meant to be a version of Nexus that existed in Off World Colonies, but it was changed when the script was rewritten.
5:50 please do a review on Lock Up whenever you see it. I've watched it more than 10 times and it's still one of my favorite Stallone movies.
It's in my top five Stallone movies, because it has Pathos along with Rocky, First Blood, Demolition Man, Assassins.
'Soldier' did get a theatrical release in Australia, I saw it at a movie marathon and it was a fun experience. Agree the poster design is great!

What’s your method of syncing up audio tracks with a Blu Ray? That seems handy, but I haven’t looked into how to do it.
Supergirl is a real guilty pleasure of mine... Actually that's not true, it's a genuine pleasure!
Still have all my Laserdiscs and Pioneer player. Phenomenal
Laser 2000 in Manchester, I worked there back in the day , it was where u got ur imported laserdisc or dvd from.
No Escape = Escape Plan?
Great vid, thx. You make me want to take my laserdisc collection out of mothballs and give it a spin. My panny player still works!
Lock Up! Banger...💯
You mention Schwarzenegger’s last good film. I’ve never understood why the sixth day doesn’t get any love.
Speaking of Schwarzenegger films that don't get much love, the last time I mentioned like Eraser, someone accused me for having no taste.

Errrrr, because it’s not a GOOD film 😂
@@alienboy1322Eraser is CLASS!
@@JestersDeadUK Roger Ebert gave it 3/4. It's nowhere near his best, but I think it's a good, fun action film and enjoy it.

Glad to see there's people who enjoyed Eraser.
That flash is the best NTSC disc, said for years and probably told you lol mine is signed by Sam Jones
Nice additions! I still need to upgrade my barebones Princess Bride Criterion disc to that version with the special features.
Im surprised you don't have it Sam! You haven't done a LD update video in ages, I did enjoy those.
you remind me of young barry norman
I like your Masters of the Universe poster.
Very nice collection, Predator, Hunt, Princess, Flash, City 🥰🥰🥰
I’ve got over 500 discs here, if you want to make a deal. I’ll keep them cheap to help offset postage!
I have loads of laserdisks but I don’t have anything to play them on unfortunately I can’t get rid of them though
Ollie will take them off your hands.
My parents enjoy laserdiscs they're so cool.
Hey Ollie. Just wondered do laserdiscs have any type of region coding?
No region coding mate just NTSC and PAL.

I would love you to see a retrospective of Super 8 (2011).
Great show thank you for the video byebye
Got soldier new on laser day one, and haven't watched it since lol
Over the Top (1987) 4K coming in April '25 from Capelight Pictures. Will you be picking up the greatest trucker father/son wrestling drama on 4K?
Great escape obi on lock up
Cool 😎 video mate. (Nes Manga)
This jazz music is a little too omnipresent in the mix
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
You remind me of Eddie Kaye Thomas from American Pie.

I dont get it, why do people like Laser Disc?
Is it because its like having music on vinyl or what?
Or is it about the sleeves?
Yea, on both, they’re beautiful
