This is the peak. It’s all downhill from here
lets get together and watch this piece of history tomorrow
😂😂
heh
Omg. I was gasping at this one. Insane.
is it one way only?
The fact that Brian is keeping up with one of the best descenders out there is amazing.
What's incredible is Brian was having to get on his brakes so as to not overtake him..
@@dustind9242 Not really. Bigger people descend faster.
@@michael1Yes, but I'm bigger than both of them, but I'm not descending faster.. On this mountain there's a huge skill component, which Brian always demonstrates that he has plenty of .
@@dustind9242 draft?
@@dustind9242 You're confusing cornering faster. The bigger guy is going to have a higher terminal velocity. Simple as. Not skill related. Fat people roll down hills faster than skinny ones. Of course Grand Tours are won by people who go uphill fast - and this is where power to weight ratio wins.
this is absolutely insane. zero room for error. perfect bike handling skills. pedal to the metal the whole way. one of the most impressive cycling clips i've ever seen. hats off to both riders.

When will Safa get a helmet?
Go sell your poison
Is it possible to buy this Red Bull helmet? The design is so amazing!!
So Red Bull Road Rage? Coming new Road Rage challanges?
Find someone who trusts you as much as this man trusts his tires
🤣🤣🤣
@@neil4701 Yeah when you race bicycles/motorbikes you just gotta have faith that when you tip into that corner at what feels like warp speed that the tire is just gonna grip and keep you safe but building the courage to do that aint easy and takes time.
in that case i would have to trust the road more than the tires.
if a little more sand had blown onto the road at crucial points, then a _departure_ would have been inevitable.
*track inspection is so so important.*
after all, this is not a route that has been previously cleared by an organizer of major competitions.
*Respect!*
You can even see him skidding at 1:13 !
@@manoluisi4281 not skidding. He clipped his pedal
came for Tom descending, stayed to rewatch this on repeat 🤯
Please, leave cycling alone.
@@CK-wf1ex You then leave cycling alone.
@@CK-wf1ex why?
@@CK-wf1ex yeah sweet, let the company dedicated to promoting extreme sports stay away from cycling but a Belgian glue company, a british petrochemical concern, and middle eastern countries known for horrific human rights violations are all ok.
@@AFFootballHighlights i think he is joking
Your filming of Tom's ride is epic. Truly blows my mind how you can ride that fast and that close. Took me a long time going down the hill to realize that this was being filmed from a closely following bicycle. I think that more than one rider makes the ride seem more closer in speed to the real thing. Watching Tom make every corner, never a sure thing, made me realize Brian was right behind him going the same speed. Really incredible ride! thanks.
And Brian was carrying camera gear, including the bigger camera on his helmet! It reminds me of the old quote: "Sure [Fred Astaire] was great, but dont forget that Ginger Rogers did everything he did…backwards and in high heels."
People usually forget the cameraperson who keeps up with the one in front! No doubt he has gone down this hill many more times than Pidcock and is familiar with it but still very impressive.
feel like safa could take him at the times easy
Filmed with zooomed camera from safe distance with electric road bike?
@@vidstjepanvlahovic856 Maybe - but how many times has Safa ridden this road compared to Pidcock? Knowing a downhill is a huge advantage. But still an impressive downhill by both.
The level of skill is just completely mindblowing. The way they can judge those corners. Unbelievable
His corning technique is fucking insane. Safa your ability to flawlessly sit on his wheel is so impressive.
What is really amazing is that these are Safa's hunting grounds...for Pidcock he's just out there training on unfamiliar roads so we don't know how many times Tom had to recon the descent before filming this. If this was first attempt, then its even more impressive doing it completely blind.
So bloody true!
@@montanajones8393 they said he did it three times before, which is effectively him riding on an unknown road
@@montanajones8393 I think he stated in a social media post afterwards that he did 2 runs beforehand, so that's still insane that he pushed the limits like that 🤯
No way I'm going to be convinced he was not on electric, and it is still impressive. Not Pidcock - the follow cam.
1:14 my heart skipped a beat just watching that

Having the balls to take this descent on a bike, much less hit that wall in that turn with the force to break your collarbone, is mad impressive. Hats off to you mate, you’re an impressive rider with that story alobe
CONGRATULATIONS to Tom Pidcock for winning today Strade Bianchi 2023 AMAZING rider!
1:13 made my stomach go to my ass geez that was sketchy! Insane how he pretty much did a KOM effort off only a few test runs y’all are next level!!

My heart exploded not from fear, but from pure bliss. Safa you are a true legend, and Tom is certainly one of the most technical riders to ever grace the sport. What an amazing piece of cinematography…. Wow
idk Tom almost went tumbling off the mountain with that pedal strike at the beginning, I was scared.

With all equipment, cameras on helmet and aero disadvantages SAFAs skill sitting and following the wheel was absolutely insane.
No words.... the balls, the skills, the smoothness... just unreal. In awe. Chapeau
AND this is why Tom is one of the best descenders in the world, the lad is crazy with balls of steel.
Nibali is also amazing, Fabian Cancellara was the best!
Pidcock's descent on Stage 12 of last year's Tour de France, and his win of the stage, was the best thing about the entire tour. I'll super-tuck, but you guys are crazy! Keep posting more.
Stop it bro. Yeah it was great but definitely not the best thing about excellent last year TdF.
Last years tour was one for the ages, maybe the best one in my lifetime. Pidcocks descent, while cool, certainly wasnt the best part about it.
Markası modeli nedir?
Seeing SAFA going corner after corner down The Fish with Pidcock just reminds me what a master he is. Great video!
i actually liked the Safas line way more. More Braking, wider start, later apex, more speed on output
Watched this many times today and gotta give Safa props for always being able to keep up with whatever pro is descending in front of him while having GoPros with gimbals attached to his helmet and chest. King of Downhills is right.
Tom is functionally at a different level than most of us!
Transitive property adds Safa B to that same level :-) Great ride by both. Ditching my desk now and going for a ride!
Did he pedal strike or slip, what a calm save though. I love watching Tom race. His energy is so great
Pedal strike
Most of us not including SAFA
Hence why he's a professional
"It's nice riding with the king of downhill, innit?" Even Tom recognises the beast that Safa is.
he meant himself
@@k1mfor His wording made it sound like he did but the way he said it I think he meant it the other way
Blimey, they seem to have got the hang of it. Dropped on this a bit randomly, but WOW, just spent 6 minutes bein in awe and terrified all at the same time. Absolutely stupendous.
A masterclass in descending, with balls of toughened ceramic - I couldn't stomach the paceline on such a winding route...... heart was skipping beats.
So I'll just remain humbly recreational.... all hats off to TP and his cameraman......
That was insane! So much confidence in their own ability and in the bike! Next level skills is a massive understatement! This was frightening to me.
Casually..."That was a bit sketchy, but we survived". 😂🤣 No fear at all, amazing.
This is absolutely insane. Watching Pidcock is unreal but the fact that that you are right on his wheels is astonishing. This is truly satisfying to watch. I am a speed demon going downhill but you guys are in a different ball game compare to the world.
This made my palms sweat more than when watching Alex Honnold climb free-solo.
Once again we are met by our unlikely hero, Safa and new pal, Tommy Bananas.
For long time fans a world tour cyclist of this level was but a pipe dream to be guested on the channel, but in Safa we trust.
Mr. Pidcock, you are the pinnacle peak plunger, the mountain slaying maestro, the cyclists cyclist, and an explosion of fiery talent that very few could replicate. Thank you for your time, this is a dream. Another demon of the hills accepting the discipleship in which this channel champions.
Pidcock is such a rad guy. And so amazing you got him on the channel! Can’t imagine his team will be too thrilled seeing this tho 😂
Yes, he was in Volta ao Algarve the next day.
Madness!! 🔥🔥🔥
No. skills have to be continually practised and honed.
I'm sure his team is delited to see this. It's publicity, the literal reason for their existence
Omg I just started realizing this shit.
You can’t deny Toms one of the best downhillers in the business at the moment. First thing I noticed was the mist-dampness on the road, and sand on the edges. Still, he knows what he’s doing. He’s pretty red hot at all the cycling disciplines he participates in. And a big thumb up to Safa. Not bad himself. Never lost Tom the whole down, and with a whopping great camera on his head! Good man!
Really, on open roads? Can he see round corners?
Lost our breath at 1:13 haha! Great great bike handling skills! Amazing to watch on repeat!
Tom Pidcock and King of Downhill - dream duo!
I ride the Santa Monica’s frequently. No way I’m hitting those speeds. Ever! Just a master class and a joy to watch. Thanks for posting.
This is just absolutely sublime... To give it everything on the edge & running the lines so tight & smooth with body/bike positioning.... AFTER that early oil slip?! Showing incredible mental fortitude and bike handling skills. Beautiful to watch! 👍
I’ve descended Tuna… it’s insane… I was white knuckled the whole time and had to stop halfway through to catch my breath…. Tom makes it look like a walk in the park.
His line choice is so interesting. Nice to know that pros also complain about headwinds :). Thanks for the great video Mr. Brian!
@@d.w.8100 I see it too. Maybe it's cause he's a lot smaller, but he's really throwing his body into turns. He's swinging out wide before diving very late into the apex.
@D. W. It's more of the fact that Tom doesn't need to take the optimal entry/apex with every turn. He's comfortable descending and can take a more tangential line vs. swinging out wide with every turn. Conventional wisdom says "smoother is faster" but a straighter line is a faster line, braking removed.
Excuses, excuses
@@darrensyoutube he is taking the fastest lines, you might not see it in the video but the road surface curves out in some corners and you don't wanna be there turning
Lately I’ve m been watching Safa and Tom on a cycling camp with friends and now 2 elite descenders in 1 clip. Awesome 🤯

Amazing to watch. Pure artistry on wheels. Thank you Brian.
Tom is the ultimate sender and Uncle SAFA was up to the task of staying on his wheel. Epic video!
Wowzers. Tom may be a diminutive fellow but he must carry his bollocks around in a wheelbarrow. Top job filming by Safa which really puts you there in the moment. One of the most exhilarating things I’ve watched on UA-cam
Fantastic to watch a master at work. Thank you for the great video.

From a guy who has has 2 bad crashes on descents this was a hard watch 😅🙈
The level of skill is out of this world, and the balls unfathomable 🤣
I think I know what are your feelings. I was scared and a bit jealous that after my crash I don't have such balls anymore to decent on the limit... Stay safe!
Chills down my spine watching this. Pidcock and Safa doing it descent demon style
What is so mental, is that Tom didn't hold back after that wheel slide. Balls of steel!! And what a down to Earth, humble dude. 👏
the holy grail of descending PERIOD
Thanks so much for this collab, Tom Pidcock has been my favorite cyclist ever since I saw that stage 12 descent of the Galibier, it was one of the most beautiful racing moments I've seen. Instant click when I saw this and its a dizzying display of desceinding
everybody's talking about Tom, but Safa held on perfectly to his wheel the entire time 🤯🤯🤯
Absolutely. I love Tom, but all the time I was thinking "Who's the guy with the camera? Is that a drone??"
Safa has the Strava record for the fastest descent.
I feel like safa has made this style of video such a category this year that it’s risen to a point where a pro rider would think it’s worthwhile. chapeau!
Sitting in my armchair watching this masterclass in death defying descending. Am absolutely petrified and heart rate is way too high. Tom Pidcock is beyond compare. Chapeau also to the event photographer.
That would be game over for 99.9% of people at 1:13 . Tom is like, "I'm just warming up mate. 🤣 testing the limit". Safa is a legend for keeping up with him. That's a job only a few pros would want to take. This video is a Hall of Fame video. Don't try that at home kids. ❤💛💚🖤🔥🔥🔥🔥
For sure. I'd almost expect this level of descending from a young Pro Tour rider - but for Safa to stay with him, and so close behind, is a true testament to his skill as well.
99.9 would have slipped out on Zwift… let alone real life hahah.
Line choices, moving the weight side to side... Top class, of course. But haven't seen anybody complimenting late breaking and breaking skills in general. This sound of the breakpads made me thrilled 😑😑👍

It's videos like these that motivate me to get on the saddle any chance I get.
nice pedal clip at 1:14 mark - better recovery - I was doing this once on open roads - as I came screaming down the right hand lane on a v. tight blind left hander with sheer rock cliff BOTH sides - a tourist in a SUV coming UP - decided it was the perfect time to PASS a slower driver in the left hand lane ( his right my left ) while going round this BLIND CORNER - as I am going into the corner at 65-70 kph - I looked ahead from my crouch and suddenly saw the VERY WIDE and ominous looking front grill of the SUV filled with wife + kiddies - in MY lane - hmmmm - what to do? - the funny thing is that you do NOT have time to THINK in these situations - you simply react - often on instinct alone - no - I did not panic and grab the brakes - naughty naughty - I gently swerved to right without ANY braking and passed between the driver side mirror and the wooden road railing with enough clearance either side to fit a blade of hair - I could feel the wood splinters whisper by my exposed right leg and the chrome mirror kiss my left bicep - I never even thought too much about it at the time tbh - only AFTER does it hit you and you go WTF !!! was that guy thinking !!! - seriously dude like WTF ... descending is otherwise enjoyable - I have always feared hitting small kid goats that tend to be on the road side with their mother goats and panic - darting out when they are afraid - hitting one of those a speed is not fun - I have come v. close but thanksfully not - notice how the Pros grab every opportunity to increase their speed - I would probably sit there and go - yep time to sit on this is fast enough - Piddie is like - too SLOW - MUST GO FASTER - every chance he gets he is driving it hard - damn dawg
For the next pro rider collab, I think one with Matej Mohoric is a much need!

Tom Pidcock. My word. You have my ultimate respect to stay on his wheel and provide us with an incredible view of who I consider the best downhill cyclist in the world. Of course there are many who can lay claim to that title, but let me add this. If he is not the best there is no one better.
