I'm writing a story set in London and it's really great to have passionate people like you who give video tours for ppl who can't be there themselves! thank you a lot, it helped me get the atmosphere and special places of the park!

I grew up near Victoria Park in the 60s.At that time it was a much nicer park than it is now, more planting that screened it from the nearby roads so that you had the feeling of being in the countryside.
There was a great Lido where we spent most of the summer and a great cafe by a lake ,with a stage for outdoor performances. The park was far more manicured than today and generally better cared for.

I would have very much liked the Lido to remain

I was born in speldhurst rd in nineteen fifty and spent many hours playing in viccy park. Sadly now the yuppies have moved in. The park has changed a lot since then, opened out for easy maintenance.

I'm sure Hackey has changed a lot since 1950! Vicky Park used to have a lido, it was repaired after the war so I imagine you spent many summers there?

@@RoamingRequired yes spent time at the lido. It also had a pets corner type place where you could see and hold small animals like rabbits and guinea pigs but sadly some idiots got in there at night and killed them all. There was a fair every year down by gunmakers lane.

What happened to the Lido that used to be there? Why was it and, when was it removed? I don't suppose you're old enough to remember it, I'm seventy two now and got sunburned there when I was nine years old. I used to live just outside Victoria Park as a child, but I moved out of the area in 1965. I'm sure the Lido was still there then.

I really enjoyed walking through Victoria Park with you. I wasn't familiar with it, but I know we can count on your to show us the hidden gems/local spots in the city! Looks like a lovely place :)

Thanks for watching, Vicky Park is definitely one of those local London spots. Perhaps you can add it to your list next time you're in London. Not too far from hip east London locations of Shoreditch, Haggerston etc which have some fantastic restaurants I'm sure you'd enjoy!
