I think you are supposed to mix them with more water so they can granulate. That is why they have an open pan to mix with water. You will see the true color if you put more water.

I painted one layer and left them over night. The next morning when they were dry, I got a beautiful mix of colours. They're so much fun to play with!

I love Kuretake paints! I have their 48 set, and the beloved art nouveau set (favorite!!). I've wanted to try granulating colors, the Schmincke super granulating in particular (I love the greens!), but haven't pulled the trigger. Definitely want to try these! I love your personality, and feel the same joy when trying new paints! Thanks from a 30 yr old in TX :)

They're all very pretty, but the middle color, the greenish orange color is my fav!

That one reminds me of glacier green from Schmincke line of granulating colors. The only one I bought (they’re so expensive).

I wasn't interested at first, but they are delicate and interesting. Because they are granulating, I think you would get more of a value range using more water with the empty pan they provided. Granulating paints, granulate better with lots of water, and sometimes even work better on cellulose paper. They look beautiful when you layered them.

I enjoy Kurosaki and have acquired the complete set of Kuratake. I started a no 2024 and may break it with this set. My favorite style of painting is abstract and I also love doodling. I am excited to see what can be created with these paints. Have you tried abstract or doodling with these paints?

I swatched them and thought they all dried much the same except for the orange which would better have been called green.

I thought the same thing when I swatched them, but when I actually painted with them, there was quite a difference! I was surprised! I hope you enjoy them!

I really really wish four of them weren't purple. I know one is called red and one blue but they look purple to me. And the orange looks green. They're beautiful but why not make other colors? Seems a little repetitive. Maybe it looks different over cam 😂
