- I wanted to take one of these apart to see if it could be modified to just use as a wifi relay, open and close contact, instead of switching the 240v line aka live on and off. So heres a bit of a how to video. Hopefully it helps you open yours.

mine is blinking green and orange the whole time and i hear the relee clicking? any ideas about this?
Have one here bought on return goods. But turns out it isn't working.
Does connect and switch by app or side button but doesn't switch power.
Don't hear the relay either.
Not sure yet. Gave it a few bangs. Didn't solve unfortunately.
Depending on refund or return I will try to open it then. Have some Relays if that's the issue I should be able to fix it.

@@fiveleafcloverfpv4445 I think relays failing is quite a common occurrence (from googling). I can only assume people are using them to turn off big loads frequently.
It looks to me that it would be relatively easy to encase the board so that it could be used in ceiling spaces as a replacement for the now unavailable HomeEasy devices. If I did that there is often no earth available...so a question, does the device work without an earth.?
I think it would work without an earth. But obviously that would mean less safety / protection in the event of a electrical fault, so not ideal to leave out the earth.
Whether or not to ground it depends on the type of equipment you have. If your device has a plastic case, it doesn't need to be grounded. If it is a metal casing, the metal casing needs to be grounded.
Thoughts on the plug saying its rated at 13amp's but the relay is only rated at 10a max for resistive loads and only 3a for inductive?
You can check the datasheet for this relay; it supports 250V 13A. Why isn't this written on the relay itself? Omron states that to meet the certification requirements of various countries worldwide, the current rating must be advertised as slightly lower. However, it does comply with the UKCA safety certification requirements in the UK and can handle a maximum current of 13A.
@@davidlei6930 I'm looking at the datasheet for the g5ca right now and it's rated at 10a for resistive loads and only 3a for inductive loads.
I see no mention of 13a anywhere on the datasheet
wonder if the miniature p115 is any different than p100
@rattech Any chance you could tell us the dimensions of the complete PCB once it has been removed from the plastic housing and 3-pins?

if you insert the side of relay on neutral plug ,the relay will cut-off only neutral line and not the phase,i am corectly?
No, the neutral is always connected no matter what. Its only the 'phase' that is turned on and off. (we call phase 'line' or 'live' here in the UK)
@@rattech But from the electrical connection I see that the relay is only on one side the motherboard does not have double relay,so if I put it in one position or the other the relay It should be in one position on the phase and in the other on the neutral.
Use a pen search line and you will see that with the socket off in one position you will have no current but in the other you will have current on the phase even if the socket is turned off.
It's like you have a single pole switch and not a double pole switch
It's just single pole switched like a lot of things are. Double pole switching is safer when you will be working on the wiring as it completely isolates the circuit. For something like this it doesn't make much difference difference as the appliance connected will probably only be single pole switched anyway.
With UK sockets the plug can only be inserted one way.
the tapo 100 power on but don’t get energy with outlets. Wich component is bad ?

In the most situations the problem is that the relay sticks because of inrush current peak
