I had an LG french door frig that failed three months before the warranty was over. They sent a repair guy who worked on it for 3 hours and finally gave up and finally ordered a new compressor; he stated it was leaking freon. Three weeks later he installed the new compressor and guess what, it still leaked. He leak checked the frig for three hours and finally gave up. He stated the leak was somewhere in the freon distribution in the body of the fridge and couldn't fix it without disassembling it entirely thus it was unrepairable. I spent the next five months fighting with LG to replace the fridge but they stalled by slowly escalating my problem through three levels of "customer service". I finally gave up having wasted nine months of time with LG. The bottom line is, DO NOT PURCHASE LG, THEY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WARRANTY!
Welcome to the victim pool of LG. Just google the lawsuits against LG. I had my 3 month old tin can removed and bought another brand. The fridge is less than a year old and the ice machine doesn't work or the water dispenser. After researching LG, I'm just throwing it away!

a salesman told me that it's better to have an icemaker in the door as opposed to in the fridge body (inside). He said it had to do with warm air floating around inside of fridge can cause the ice to melt a little , whereas in the door it has dedicated vents to keep it colder. Is this true ? or is it a line of BS ?

I don't know, but our 4-door Samsung is old (9 years?) looks like it came right out of the box, and works spectacularly well! Our ice maker is in the door, by the way.
With all our Texas storms with lightning and power outages, we've worried when we get hit with an insane storm, and nope... Our Samsung is a freight train beast!!

Almost got 3 years out of my LG. They replaced the compressor and it still doesn't work. Oh yeah the doors won't stay closed and the instaview door won't seal. LG stands for low grade I guess.
Had 2022 LG and compressor failed after two years, but despite the compressor being under warranty, LG customer service is a nightmare. And if your compressor fails, wait and wait and wait for the inventory compressor.
Samsung and LG refrigerators are very unreliable, break easily and always have a lots of issues. I was looking for video that shows 5 most reliable refrigerators. Irrelevant video, sorry.

You are correct. I was mailed a form for a class action lawsuit. They sent me $300. LG is the worst company for fixing issues. A component of the lawsuit is it takes over 10 days just to get a technician to come. Our compressor went out 3 times in 2 years. Then a non-LG repair person was called by LG and we never had an issue until it started leaking in the back after 6 years and ruined our hardwood floor, which we now have to repair.
And all the technicians we have had for appliances, every one of them said Samsung is the worst.

I had Samsung TV paid a lot for it but unfortunately didn’t last long, one day it just decided to not turn on and the tech said the screen was “broken” eventho it was safely placed, mind boggling, since then I decided to purchase TV at cheaper price 😆 Currently just purchased LG fridge hopefully it’d last.

Samsung have too much trouble my fridge good only 4 years and ice build up inside & control screen did not work. It looks beautiful but too much trouble. Samsung Washers and dryers too much trouble too. I will never buy Samsung products again

I will never buy another Samsung. That doggone ice dispenser is useless. The way they engineered the water tube for the ice means it freezes up and you have to defrost it regularly to get it to work again, only for it to happen over and over. The solution, since Samsung has ignored every inquiry I’ve made is to disable the function entirely and buy a tabletop ice maker. USELESS!!!! I will never buy another appliance from them again. Customer service is completely silent. See all the UA-cam videos about this complaint, there are many to view.

I'm trying desperately to find out how to switch the second freezer to refrigerator mode for Thanksgiving. 😂 We used to switch it a few times every year, but with C19, we didn't. 😂

My sharp is 15 yrs old
My whirpool is 26 years old. In the market for a new one buts its clear from all these comments and reviews that they don't make em like they used to. Expect 5-8 years out of them now.
These types of refrigerators are not energy efficient. So, no go for me....

Don’t touch Samsung or LG fridge. It’s the 3rd service tech who told me. TV’s, yes. The best. If they don’t work, get ready to pay heavy. Once the one year coverage is over, good luck.

Whoa now, hold on! Female electrical engineer here who cares more about the 2nd set of priorities you mentioned. I was just thinking how the other Brands, models & attributes of the fridges listed here were so different than the ones listed in the videos made by appliance repair persons.

Samsung fridges are sh!t, well ok if you dont mind replacing them as soon as the warranty expires. customer service is sh!t too, still waiting for a callback. went and both other brand, which is cheaper and more reliable. I now stay clear of any appliances with Samsung logo. I'm too poor to replace these every second year.
ain't no way you recommend LG and Samsung which have the highest repair rates and failure rates and ALL of your recommendations have water dispenser which significantly lowers the longevity of refrigerators. Possble LG/Samsung salesperson or you just put those products that have "nice specs" and compare specs and choose the highest number. what a joke.
