Canada is facing a conflict of wills. Trudeau stands on his high pillar of morality, self-justifying actions that impact everyone from farmers to the current youth generation. Eric Duhaime, leader of the Conservative party of Quebec, discusses pressing issues for his province, and how he plans to fight back.
Before winning his election campaign with 95.99 percent of the vote, he was a published columnist and radio host. He has written for Journal De Montreal, and the National Post, as well as numerous blogs such as Les Analystes and Journal De Quebec. His radio show, Le retour d'Éric Duhaime, broadcasted from FM93 in Quebec City. Duhaime is also an accomplished author, having written such books as “La SAQ pousse le bouchon!” and “Libérez-nous des syndicats.”

That’s wrong actually, not every young person is attracted to those things. The leftist attitude is very appealing and attractive because it allows you to feel like a good person without doing any of the work or taking responsibility and everyone else can be at fault. It’s a gateway to hedonism and actively facilitates it and superficiality. Never underestimate the shadow (subsurface) desires that animate people.

I'm from Quebec and francophone. I've noticed as well a shift in politics. Some of my friends from university that used to be far-left on economics and social issues have been attracted by a lot of "values" proposed by conservatives (such as freedom, smaller government) precisely because of those terrible covid lockdowns. In Quebec they have been supported by our leftist politicians that were supposed to defend "normal people" from evil corporations, care about young people bla bla. My friend noticed how Amazon made record profits while small businesses were bankrupted by the government. They noticed how suddenly the left didn't care about children, young people, poorer immigrants but only, only about the abstract narrative of a coronavirus pandemic. When you think about it that's ... beyond crazy. The left/modern liberals failed hard at everything they claim to defend and smart young people noticed. They realized their corrupt political games, always there to divide people and call them names ... Yeah, I think in the near future a lot of younger people will want the government to be significantly reduced and not enlarged. This means voting conservative in these days and times. If a good thing can result from those destructive lockdowns that should be it. Citizens will take care of themselves. The government should get out of our lives.

I posit that the left has been the party of the petit-bourgeois (BoBo) since the very start, they never cared about the working class aside from getting their votes, now that the left bribes poor people with social security, they get instant votes no matter how crazy they appear so their mask is falling off, it's now apparent that they don't want to help, they want control, whether it's gun control, birth control, covid control, the goal is merely increasing control. Why would a government purposefully destroy its own economy? So that they can better control the impoverished population, that's all, it's just about control.

Bless you sir. I heard many years ago, every government slogan or name for some govt program always describes the exact opposite of its eventual result. I thought it was the ranting of old men, but in 57 years, I have found it to be true. So true that I now can predict the outcome and almost always it comes true in a few years. I don't know if it's a social phenomenon, or if it is actually the intent of the bastards.

They hated Ronald Reagan. Remember that Genesis song "Land of Confusion?" They made him out to be a crazed old geezer madman. But his personal political transformation from the 1950s-1960s was profound and he knew what he believed, and why. At a press conference on August 12th, 1986, US President Ronald Reagan said, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’”

What Jordan says at 13:20 is so important. In Quebec and in the span of a single generation, we threw out and rejected religion under the pretext that it had been used as a tool to control and oppress the people - and we've replaced it with an extremely large government that has a hand in almost every aspect of our lives, without a single afterthought or any introspection at all. We've had the worst covid measures in North-America, pay the most taxes in Canada, have a health system that's crumbling, I could go on and on, and people's solution always seem to be more government. But we are also needed. We form the foundation of the society, the solid ground from which people can experiment and try new things. To see what works, and what doesn’t. What the left has done is convince everyone you don’t need the solid foundation. There is no “does work or “does not work”.

Neither of my parents are or were religious. They were both liberal, always voted labour. My father, whose father was working class, always hated the conservatives and his father instilled this in my father. They “raised” me not with advice but rather with questions like, “what do you think?” Or “what do you want to do?”. When I’d go to my father with a problem he would simply tell me it would be ok and not to worry. They both relied on the state to “teach” us our knowledge, values, as well as to look after us. Needless to say we all became delinquent. My brother has a child he has abandoned, my other brother is a diagnosed narcissistic / ASPD who has forced partners to have countless abortions plus given more than one a PTSD diagnoses. My sisters life is a whole other series of bad decisions I won’t go in to. When I was 16 (sister 9) my mother abandoned the family with all the savings to go live in Spain with her boss in an affair for 10 years.
Me? I attempted to become a musician, latched on to people like Dawkins, Sam Harris. I, and my siblings all had problems with the police growing up, with no moral compass. I found atheism and humanism, thought I could make my own values.
You see where this is going. Eventually my life fell apart. And secretly I was a nihilist, I had planned to kill myself when I got old, why? Because I couldn’t fathom why anyone would want to live when they were old, with none of the “meaningful” hedonistic activities to engage in that only young people can.
When it all fell apart for me, my life and my 2nd serious relationship, I was staring over the edge. That was when I discovered Dr Peterson. That was when I re-embraced my national identity. I decided to honour my ancestors and Christ. He gave me a path to believing. Unfortunately the arguments of the new atheists are like Pandora’s box. So I try to live my life as if God exists. I now have a partner whom I intend to marry, and a daughter. Work, while physical and back breaking, is no longer soul destroying. I’ve embraced my suffering in honour of a higher purpose. Serving my family, Christ, and the lord of all that is good.
I’ve also embraced conservatism. To be separated from the Conservative party, they’re all satanic and corrupt in my opinion. But the idea that my conscientious ancestors had wisdom and have passed it down, as with my culture. I want to honour them and do the same.
As the good Dr says, bare your cross and carry it.

It seemed self-evident to me that Trudeau was a narcissistic and (probably) malevolent demagogue, but I'm a hardened cynic where politicians are concerned based upon my own country's duplicitous and despicable political class. I was worried for our northern brothers and sisters for the last several years after Trudeau's election. I'm glad to see that there are so many even from historically left-leaning areas that are starting to engage. I just hope that JP is correct and the young and passionate people seeking to rejuvenate and argue FOR conservative principles are not themselves held back by older conservatives who do no want to relinquish power. That's what we're facing in the U.S. The "old guard" don't want to be replaced, because they found their niche, made their fiefdoms and they are content to enrich themselves off the existing systems (whether local, state or federal) rather than see their ALLEGED goals brought closer to fruition by people who replaced them at the helm.

    Such a GREAT interview!!! 🙏🙏🙏
I'm a French Canadian mother of 4 that decided to leave Québec & Canada because of the abuse of both provincial and federal current governments!
I'd rather risk my financial security (and closing my growing small business) than have power hungry leaders take away my divine right to care for my children!
The vaccine mandates and all covid related government overreach have been abundantly clear to anyone who wishes to see reality BUT during the same period, Québec government has strived to deprive parents even more of their decision making rights: making it harder and harder for homeschooling families (who basically take the matter of education into their own hands at NO COST to the government!!!!!!!) + have voted a creepy law that now puts government at equal level as adequate parents: that's a BIG RED FLAG!!!
That government should intervene in cases of child abuse & child neglect is necessary BUT now this is a COMPLETELY different story.
I will forward this UA-cam video and hope for a strong vote in favour of M. Eric Duhaime!
Thank you Dr Peterson for this necessary conversation and it was such a delight to hear your perspective on the Canada / Québec historic & cultural realities!🙏🇨🇦🙏

Hell froze over.

Dr. Peterson, please do more interviews regarding the failing Canadian healthcare system (covid accelerated the decline but we were having problems before). I know that in Alberta things are bad; I'm not sure if the other provinces are worse. Here we have CANCER beds closing, insane emergency wait times, major delays in imaging/testing and surgeries (resulted in severely decreased quality of life, or worse, as you mentioned), and ambulance backups (you'll be lucky to get one at all, nevermind an ambulance with advanced care if you need it). I know people working in the system and it seems like they are understaffed and stretched to their limit (one nurse to an insane number of patients). Staff won't come in even when offered double time; they are so burnt out. It would be amazing if you could do a panel with various healthcare professionals and patients to discuss their experiences and give us an inside look.

My husband shattered his ankle at work and he filed a report so we were covered by work safe, he’s been off for two years and has receive two ankle surgeries. We were told that if we weren’t going through the process with worksafe it would have taken 2 years to get a consultation with a surgeon because those injuries are considered “low priority”. He was 27 and could barely move, I was so shocked. It was definitely an eye opener and made me want to know more about how we could improve things.
