7 months ago this video popped up in my feed. I had never heard of a Onewheel before, but after watching your excellent video, I knew this is what I was missing in my recreational life. I’m also in my 50’s, so no time like the present! 900 XR miles later, I can say without a doubt that my Onewheel is the best thing I ever purchased for the outdoors. As a side benefit I have met, and talked, to many people in my neighborhood and in my town as a result, and even have a growing organized Onewheel group! Thank you so much for being the catalyst of it all! My life is greatly enriched because of you.
Common Sense Hey! When I installed my Cobra pad and new bumpers around 1,100 miles, I accidentally used too long of a screw and punctured a battery seal. I got caught in a rainstorm and the next day i had issues. I sent it to service and they fixed it. Other than that, which was my fault, I’ve had no issues whatsoever.
Yaboimemer1999 I just passed 2,000 now and my battery is still pushing me 18-20 miles each charge. I’m 6’1” and ~165lbs. I am riding on a Hoosier slick and I stay exclusively in Mission.
This video was one of the main videos that got me to buy an XR 4 years ago and I still ride all the time, and this video just popped up again. Thanks for making this video!
Onewheel Hi! I was wondering about water resistant part, can you ride it even when it rains a little ? Because I Know there is an IP Code (international protection) from some others electric skateboard but i can’t find it for the Onewheel, so, can you ride it under water like a little rain ? Thanks
@@ninnam_lebug I'm not a OneWheel Representative but I do own a OneWheel+ XR with over 500 miles. The OneWheel definitely can handle some rain. Although you should absolutely take precautions like making sure the OneWheel is 110% dry before you plug it in the charger. I've rode my OneWheel in moderate rain at least 3 times but generally I try to avoid riding in the rain. Also investing in a cover for the charging port on the OneWheel is highly recommended, not just to keep moisture out but also dirt, dust, debris, mud, etc.
What a great video, when i was younger i roller skated, then got into snow boarding and skate boarding and did it for many years, got out of it to raise a family and im now 57 years young 😀 after seeing your videos i have got to get one, looks too fun to pass up, great excuse to get out of the house! Thanks a million.👍👍👍👍👍
@Micah Mcgaffin I just bought the G2T yesterday, it may be even better. Still might get the Ranger. The streets of NYC are treacherous. Waiting to see if they upgrade the Ranger.
I am watching a video of a Canadian vanlife couple that are broken down .... Their one wheel is all they have for transportation and here I am watching this video. Great review !!!
I stopped to help a 'One Wheeler' who took a hard tumble after going what seemed like 40 MPH downhill. When all of a sudden, as he was slightly crouched~ killing it for the ride of his life, the Wheel must have slowed a bit as described in the video, and off he flew. Smart he had a helmet and leathers on! Wasn't hurt too bad. He Was Rippin' it up just before he went down! Holy Cr4p he was going fast!
This is why third parties sell the fangs; they are little wheels that go on the front of the board that help prevent nose-diving. I bought a set for my new one coming in the mail soon.
Thanks for making all your videos. Watching them makes me feel like I have a cool friend. I know we're not *actually* friends, but the videos makes me feel less lonely. Thanks man.
Dude, such a good review. I think your hand mannerisms and clarity of speech really made the video flow and made is enjoyable as well. I'm probably going to put in an order for an XR within the hour. Well Done, Sir!
Having your hands free is selling me so much, got my own eboard and love it but having to use the gimbal and using the remote at the same time is frustrating, this looks like a more intuitive and natural process
Nice review Talon. And 18mph wow you’re doing great! I live in Chicago and we don’t have too many trails here, but it’s still SO much more fun than riding a regular Eboard, even in the street commuting every day. Super versatile machine. Float on bro! -Stroh
I saw a pair of these in Santa Cruz at the Lighthouse about 3 years ago while acquainting myself with the Pacific. I had no idea what they were until the couple (I assume the owners) took off on them! I tried to look it up when I got back to PA but didn't know what it was called and gave up (OneWheel - Duh)! It's amazing the range it has, and it looks like fun!! Thanks for the review!
I have a raptor 2.1, but your video just made me want a Onewheel+ XR. By the time I save the money, probably have a newer version out. Awesome video and you just gained a subscriber for life.
I bought mine after watching these videos. I am a bit older than the ‘typical’ rider but I think I will be fine. I am not a daredevil. I just want to be able to get around having fun. I live right near a huge forest preserves and am waiting anxiously to get mine, due tomorrow!
I'm 49 and love it. Never rode a skateboard in my life. I would suggest the cheapest fender to start, because my pretty carbon fiber one has scratches now due to jumping off when learning to ride.
Dude. Do you live in a ghost town? No cars. No people. Change the music. Throw a few zombies in the video. You got ya self a killer apocalypse movie! 🤣😂
FWIW I sprayed a few cans of PlastiDip on the underside of my fender and it helped cut down on the noise from rocks and whatnot hitting the underside. There is still noise to be sure but doing that helps. The Onewheel really should be sold with a fender as standard. Without it you get a serious amount of crud kicked up on to you (I'd end up with a pile of dirt on my back foot). So, if you get a Onewheel definitely get a fender and consider something like PlastiDip to reduce noise.
Dude, glad you “shared your stoke” 😂 ... And yer first dismount made me farmer-shoot a mouthful of energy drink through my NOSE!! Didn’t have a warning. ✌️
I was thinking about getting one to ride back and forth to work, in addition to just having fun on it, obviously. I had didn't realize it also regenerated power going down hills and braking. I really want one, and the more I learn about it, the more that $1800 price tag looks reasonable.
Same here, I prefer this than a car. You don't have to pay insurance for this, or gasoline. It's chargeable, great speed, superb battery life! Nobody in my city has this yet. I have to walk more than an hour from work, and 30 minutes to school. This is why I'm currently working a part time job at AutoZone, then once I'm on summer break, I will work in the fields. I will have two jobs. This has honestly been on my mind ever since I've seen it at the beach. I want this more than an Apple laptop which costs $1,400, or the Pioneer DJ XDJ-RX2, which is $1,699.
I love the Onewheel so much ! (906km odometer) I have bought the Onetail+ backfoot pad it is so much better to the stock.. no more foot fatigue, better control, .. a must have ! or the Cobra pad have great review too but never tried it, i recommend you to buy one of these if you want the best experience of the Onewheel ! The way it "reads your mind" or keeps you balanced or moving where you lean is the same as a segway or hoverboard (alot of people dont understand that all a hoverboard does it try to stay upright and that is its function..) The turning is where things get alot different.
I have the original one wheel with over 300 miles on it, ive had it right at 3 years!! I love that thing, I do want the xr, but I cant see spending the money when mine is still running and operating perfectly!! @onewheel makes such solid product, that if this on ever dies I will no doubt buy another!!
I apologize for the double comments, but I have now gotten sucked into seeing the benefits for having a OneWheel - especially being a snowboarder and thinking about the enjoyment for riding one. Probably my biggest concerns and my question to you are - how is the maintenance of the board/ how long do you believe you can ride it before having to buy another one and how water proof is the board? - I know the BMS is waterproof but I am curious about the battery pack - which seeing the process makes me believe it is as well
I shredded a hamstring on one of those - getting too confident too early. Oh and being 53 with no skate board skills didn't help. BUT I'd do it again, just slower lol. A Blast!
Because of Melbourne’s unplanned urban growth, there’s no scenic trails for one wheel travels but I’m really close to buying one cause it seems so cool
One thing i really like about these is the big diameter wheel. I got to try an older version at burning man in 2015. I had no idea what it was at first. It was the only electric board that seemed to really work there, unless you count segways as electric boards. The size and portability of it was pretty amazing, too.
Mission is the best mode to use overall; its responsive and doesn't have a low pushback limit...plus is great for battery life. Delirium is good if you want a responsive and more aggressive ride (example is trail riding). Custom is where you can truly fine-tune your settings to your preferred style.
Board wasnt angling up for you to go up hill easier. It was telling you you were near its capability in cruz mode, its called "pushback" and shouldnt be ignored or the board will stop balancing and youll eat the pavement.
it looks like half of a jet ski trailer. is it hard to back up ? does it have bearing buddies ? it has trailer lights that's cool! Are they going to come out with a tandem version ? Its cool that it's all terrain capable . They should make a single ski version for the snow ! rad
old video but i heard you said cold conditions take a hit on battery & that's the exact opposite. there's a reason motors & batteries have a heatsink or some form of grill to cool it & that's because heat is what takes a hit on a battery. unless it's extremely cold & i mean extremely the cold will actually help battery life. great video & can't wait to get my onewheel.
Thanks but try riding in 30 degree temps. Just like phones die fast when they are cold, all batteries deplete faster in the cold. Riding in the heat is stressful on batteries but cold conditions are worse.
@@TalonSei That would be a good idea for a video. see how many +/- miles one can get depending on outside temp to test this theory. This is according to my experience but would be interesting to see results
hughckok45 you’re confused mate. Heat sinks are important to prevent overheating, yes. But chemical batteries simply do not generate the same current at lower temperatures.
These things would be awesome if there were charging stations all around..! Just pack the backpack, and go on a onewheel vacation. Im sure it will happen some day. At least along certain scenic roads, where everyone will be taking their onewheels, electrical bikes, segways, etc; like a lazy-mans version of hiking the Appalacian Trail. For now, i guess im stuck with my good ol' MTB :P
Can you review the Neja electric skateboard next? Their website looks like they are still building it, so I don't know how long the Neja has been in market really. Also, great review of the Onewheel + XR. Lots of great info and love that you kept it real by including the failed dismount. Float on, dude!!!
Dude you're awesome. When you gonna get an electric unicycle? Veteran just came out with one that you can go 115 miles at 45mph on a single charge. Would love to see you review one of those
This video made me buy a OneWheel! I feel like I'm late to the party, though, haha. Also, what jacket are you wearing in this vid? I love gray things, and that jacket looks sleek and warm.
Seen this awesome invention two years ago in rural TN advocating for clean water, and the right to rural internet access through local servers! Love the impact, and the all around SOUNDNESS of this awesome, hobby/transportation! Keep rocking in the free world!!!! I want one, AND when I get one all my friends will got to be cool like us..... WITHOUT one of these, they won't be. But after watching me. They are going to lose it! Glad see your dreams coming true! #1invention
I have an Electric Mountain Bike but this looks funner lol. I would get one but the terrain I'm usually on is a bit too rough/uneven for this ...fantastic video though, and that dismount to table crash was epic lol
This or electric skateboard though? It seems the electric skateboard will have more speed, while the OW will have more versatility and potentially a more enjoyable ride imo
I've been on the fence about eboards in general. I found your channel and almost immidiately decided to get one...now am totally considering a one wheel!
Hey man you should really get a full face helmet, and slide gloves. Protect that mug. Oh ya, also start the downhill skating. Sick video style, little long but thorough and easy to watch.
My question. Getting older 50+ having stopped rollerskating and have never found a scateboard comfortable or safe...I use segways' and howerboard findind the auto stabilisation natural. Is One wheel something worth trying? - what is the learning curve? Is off road worthwhile? - i know it can - but must smaller radius wheels feels the best on new pavemant.
Sick ass trail! Looks just like the trail I ride my board on but I’m in Utah. Come shred the snow up here some time. Guarantee you’ll have a killer time
instead of painting try slaping down one layer of some sound deadener stuff w the metalic backing and adhesive will make installation as ez as slapping on a sticker and will def kill that rock chatter noises... how do u like the one wheel now? i have a meepo board but wanted to know how the ride is on the one wheel... i do snowboard and use my long board quit often but i would love something i can take off road on gravel paths and walkways and such.. lemme kno how ur liking the 1wheel as of today 4-19? thanks in advance.. -pistol pete

But chemical batteries simply do not generate the same current at lower temperatures.
My co-workers have these and I enjoy watching them violently fall lol
These things would be awesome if there were charging stations all around..! Just pack the backpack, and go on a onewheel vacation. Im sure it will happen some day. At least along certain scenic roads, where everyone will be taking their onewheels, electrical bikes, segways, etc; like a lazy-mans version of hiking the Appalacian Trail. For now, i guess im stuck with my good ol' MTB :P
Looking forward to see what upgrades you do, keep up the good vids!
So gonna get one of these here in the UK...as soon as they come down a little bit in price of course.😆
you could get a Pint!
Great video Talon! I have the same Onewheel+ XR and I absolutely love it!
Can you review the Neja electric skateboard next? Their website looks like they are still building it, so I don't know how long the Neja has been in market really. Also, great review of the Onewheel + XR. Lots of great info and love that you kept it real by including the failed dismount. Float on, dude!!!
Question: What is the best board you’ve rode so far?? 😊😊😊😊
Thanks for awesome review dude! I can't wait when I get my XR :)
You're gonna love it!
Dude, most Onewheels I've seen are blue. I gotta say that I love your all black Onewheel and when I buy my own, I'd want it all black too.
It's plastic rail protection called Sidekicks, they come in many colors. The Onewheel rails are blue, no other color option.
You deserve way more subs hope you grow very big
Omg thank you I love your vids and have been watching for a while so this means a lot to me
Dude you're awesome. When you gonna get an electric unicycle? Veteran just came out with one that you can go 115 miles at 45mph on a single charge. Would love to see you review one of those
What? Is Veteran a company? Thats crazy numbers. My v8f out last me for sure.
This video made me buy a OneWheel! I feel like I'm late to the party, though, haha.
Also, what jacket are you wearing in this vid? I love gray things, and that jacket looks sleek and warm.
2:22 Thank you for having an anti-glare matte finish screen protector!!!
#1invention
Best OneWheel video I've seen!
I would recommend starting out by ridding on grass for the first 3 or 4 days.
I have an Electric Mountain Bike but this looks funner lol. I would get one but the terrain I'm usually on is a bit too rough/uneven for this ...fantastic video though, and that dismount to table crash was epic lol
I don't care much about hover boards, etc. but this thing looks cool. I like that you cane take it off road. Seriously considering one.
scorpio13 you should check out electric unicycles. Far more impressive than one wheel
I have seen a few reviews on this and it seems to work great
This or electric skateboard though? It seems the electric skateboard will have more speed, while the OW will have more versatility and potentially a more enjoyable ride imo
I saw about 4 teens with that on the park trails and about 3 kids with regular skate boards holding on to their buddies with the one wheel
I've been on the fence about eboards in general. I found your channel and almost immidiately decided to get one...now am totally considering a one wheel!
You will not regret it! No other eboard compares to the Onewheel. We're racking up thousands and thousands of miles on these.
Sean C. You should check out electric unicycles, far faster and far greater range than one wheel for similar price.
Very nice I haven’t drive something like that but it’s never to late I would love to do it . Oh yeah !
How do you make a helmet look so good. My head looks 3 sizes smaller then my helmet.
True story
Thnx for the ride. Maybe one day.
We won’t take it off road lol while coming out of off road haha 😆
Bro your vids are addictive!!!
I want one of these so bad! But I live in the country where riding wouldn’t be the greatest. Maybe if I do move to the west coast I’ll grab one!
Works the calves and hamstrings but I agree its fun
Hey man you should really get a full face helmet, and slide gloves. Protect that mug. Oh ya, also start the downhill skating. Sick video style, little long but thorough and easy to watch.
Great video, it really helped showing the mount and unmount video.
Also, nice jacket - what brand is it?
