I like this idea of exotics being tied to tasks/quests of high difficulty that way when others see your gear they can have an idea of what you've been through. Good on you Bungie

BTW due to the new April update they made it that you do not need to lost to light to be the daily heroic, you just need to out it on 240 light before you start the mission.

So if there is an exotic for this mission, think about this. In the Last Rites mission, where you go invisible to steal Crota's soul, there is the part where you drop down into the water puddle in order to get to the crystal. If you go to the room with the crystal used to summon Crota in the raid, there will be two wizards patrolling that room. One of them is Ir Yūt. Exotic Fang of Ir Yūt?
Now I can say this for sure. The Taken King is amazing. There are so many secrets and is filled with content. I haven't finished The raid yet but I'm apparently at the part before the War Priest and it feels like the raid is amazingly long.
Funnily enough, this fight is only difficult if you try to burn the boss like Datto says to do in this video. If you ignore the boss until everything is dead and clear the room when each wave of adds spawn you will realize that there are only 4 waves that are easy to clear if you do so right as they spawn. It's actually clever game design but players make it harder on themselves because they stick to a tactic no matter how many times it fails. This one's on the players and content creators that dont try new strategies when the current ones keep failing.

Yep. I started with destiny 2, decided to get destiny this past week and I’ve been on the grind this weekend. Just got black spindle today by doing this on hard mode. It’s a hectic mission but really fun.
Funny seeing how bad Datto's strat for the boss room is (though to be fair this video is from right when it came out). There are only 4 waves of adds that spawn in the room, the first of which are the adds that are in the room right when you enter. If you clear all the adds in a wave the next wave wont spawn until you damage the boss enough to hit the next spawn (100%, 90%, 75%, and 50% of boss health are the thresholds for each wave). After the 4th wave is cleared no more adds will spawn and you can just attack the boss however you want because he has a pretty small health pool and will go down even to 3 players using blue primaries. If you try to burn the boss all 4 waves will spawn on top of each other and are 1000% more difficult to clear as blights keep adding enemies, taken psions keep duplicating, and the shielded enemies and the boss keep spamming their abilities making it difficult just to stay alive. Never attack the boss if there are adds or blights in the room and use add clearing supers and the boss room is a guaranteed win as long as you enter the room with a decent amount of time on the clock. I've used this strat to get dozens of players Black Spindle and I never failed to get a person theirs.

On the mission where you first get onto the dreadnaught, (i think its called the enemy of my enemy) you have to dimantle the dreadnaught's weapons by destroying three orbs. once all orbs are destroyed you can go to the court and a ultra knight that looks like crota will spawn. Once spawned you must stay in the arena otherwise he will despawn and you will have to go back to orbit if he does despawn. I'm not sure if this is only on the daily heroic because i found it on the daily heroic. hope this helps. :D

I can confirm that you can access this event if you play this mission on heroic; even if it's not the daily as I have just completed it this way. The door closing is also timed so you should get to the area ASAP.

So what? If you do a strike boss or raid, you will find plenty of ammo for it lying around as you certainly will not stand still on the same spot all the time.

Managed to make it to the last room solo but ran out of time. The Tank room is ridiculous. Tried my absolute best and really happy I made it this far but in going back in with a team.

+Isaiah Seno it's still the best dps weapon in the entire game and will absolutely melt warpriest/golgoroth/deathsinger sisters. Also it's not like it's a heavy weapon, special ammo is always everywhere, you practically drown in it
Isaiah Seno but there not going to have another infinite ammo sniper like the black hammer although the black spindle takes ammo from your reserve, it gradually increases DPS which stands for "Damage Per Second" im pretty sure the black hammer was a mistake of its infinite ammo and black spindle is just more balanced cuz, lets be real for a second, how over powered would an infinite ammo sniper be in Destiny.
On the daily the other day when we had to steal the cloak from Rasputin, after you finish the mission if you stand close to the pedestal at the end, it will act as a elevator and move you down towards some area where you kill some enemies. You also get some extra dialogue
Tactic: Me and my Fireteam managed to get it. The orbs work in waves. Kill all the Orbs/adds QUICKLY (A Stormcaller or Sunbreaker work REALLY well for this) and then just wail on the boss. Since the orbs spawn in waves, you can do a good Half Health bar worth of damage each wave as there is a 30 Second or so break in the orbs spawning when there are no adds.
Datto, if you got this done, you are probably the best destiny player ever this is the hardest thing to do in destiny and you make it look like a fucking cake walk.
I did it with 1 other person as a team of 2, me 293 light defender, other was a 294 storm thingy warlock. We had 5 seconds to spare. That was our 3rd attempt. Was hard but if you're a team of 3 it's nothing to celebrate about (apart from the gun obviously)....
me and my team completed this with 1 second left, thank you dark drinker, shadow shot and random shotgun i had equipped to shadow-shot shotgun combo the last person, i think it was the raid shotgun
I can confirm that if you die the door doesn't close and the door WILL open on the normal lost to light mission node on the moon BUT, the door only opens with the heroic modifier. my team did die a couple times and when we arrived, the door was open
Here's the thing. Its best to go aggressive. Forget the bubble if your a Titan, go Sunbreaker and go ham! If all die in this Taken area, you won't have to restart. You're only going against TIME. Just deal with the blights and dps on the boss. Ran in with a 290 Titan, 292 Hunter and another Titan at 295. Took us 3 tries and got it. And got a ship too!
My teams strategy was I (the Defender) would pop a bubble with Armor Of Light right next to the boss on the platform, the Nightstalker would get a Shadow Shot on the boss and we'd all run up with our swords ( 2 legendary, 1 exotic ) and literally just beat him up. It took 2 runs and then if the bubble popped our Nightstalker would have us vanish in smoke. Once we killed him we took all the blights and wrecked the Taken. We we're at the boss at 7 mins so you need to be fast.
You can get the weapon on the regular version of the mission it doesn't have to be the daily heroic. But the mission has to be on the 240 light version
Got to the ketch with a 3 man fireteam despite getting killed 3 times. A fireteam member can die but I don't think wiping is accepted. Sadly we didn't complete the final room in time. At the time we thought the boss was the only thing you had to kill which evidently made us focus on the wrong thing entirely.
Interesting. That door is closed in the normal (Easy) version but is scannable by Ghost. He says that it has Fallen fingerprints all over it, and wonders what they were up to. I wonder if other missions have clues in normal mode that Ghost can spot and only unlock in hard mode.
It's amazing how similar the Whisper of the Worm quest is compared to this, 3 rooms, and all enemies must be killed in a certain time to get the weapon. Well done Bungie...
I just did it today with two friends. We had to wipe and reset before getting on the Ketch, but we got it done. It was down to the last second. I had to spray down a Centurion with my shotgun, so we almost didn't get it. Fortunately, we did.
Just for clarity, if anyone dies it's not a showstopper, but if you wipe it's done. We made it through to start the timer and each of us died at least once on the way to the Fallen Ketch
I just got mine with the help of some great friends on Nov. 12, 2015. There was still one blight left when we completed the mission. I don't know if we have to kill them first, or just kill the actual enemies. Either way, this gun is great. Hands down one of the best in Year 2. This is what Bungie's path to old legendary guns seems to be: make them exotic. Ace of Spades is obviously Year 2 Fatebringer, and this is Year 2 Black Hammer. I cannot wait to see what other guns show up unannounced in the game!
I guess we're gonna have to keep our eyes taped open while on daily heroics from now one. Those thunder lord variants are no doubt also hidden exotics. We'll have to wait and see
You can not imagine how hard getting this gun was. Not that the actual mission itself was very difficult but just that nobody wanted a guardian with 286 light. At the end i just ran it all the way to the boss with my friend(280 light) but we couldnt beat him in time. We picked up a 3rd with 289 light and it made everything so much easier and beat with a minute to spare. In a way this is a brag but my main point is that don't be afraid to push your "limits"
if you can do this whenever you want, just selecting the Heroic version of the mission in the director, I wonder if that means this would be a source of inexhaustible Exotic shards/Legendary marks
I got the ship on my first go and I think if you play lost to light as the heroic difficulty not the daily herioc I think you still get black spindle the ship amazing I'm in live with its design
Wow i just did it with 1 friend straight up runned and gunned it with like 30 secs remaining we finished it up it still works plus it doesnt need to be the daily heroic just manually press the mission and put it on hard urself and yeas it works on old gen aswell since i did it on the ps3 loving my black spindle 🔥🔥❤❤
yesterday's daily had similar boss, the fanatic of Crota and he spawns at the court if you have complited the 3 first objectives! i didnt manage to kill him because i was alone and he despawned REALLY fast! Pay attention at what your ghost says when that daily comes back! (it will say smthing like "something stepped out of the portal", i dont remember correctly)
I played with Planet Destiny's Briar Rabbit and we couldn't do it in 4 attempts. Luckily I was able to beat it with some of my clan members. The Sniper is God tier.
At the last room, you want to kill Draviks FIRST. Even before the blights. The blights will respawn and so will more enemies as long as Draviks is still alive. So just kill adds and blights if you need to but focus on Draviks. Having a Defender Titan really helps in this. Just peep in and out to take a shot at him.. After killing Draviks, focus on blights then clean up the adds. Having either a Stormcaller/Hammer of Sol helps to clean out large numbers at once.
It does a ton of damage over 10k. The fact that it is 310 attack is a bug and it'll be 290 attack in the future. A way to bypass it is to buy one from the weapon blueprints then fuse the 310 on into the 300 one, it'll be 307 but it's better than 290
just so you know, I completed this mission last night and did not get the gun. my special slots were full and just thought it would go to my postmaster. but it didn't. also, 2 legendary Ingram's didn't go to the postmaster either. both their slots were full as well.
Its up now!!! do it before reset i just did it, 3 warlocks me: 299 others at 305 and 310 and we cut it close but we luckily got it done first try , stormcaller helps, we had 2 stormcallers and 1 sunsinger as insurance, Swords are a god send use them
The best strategy in the final room is o put a defender Titan bubble on the boss and beat the hell out of him with your swords - he doesn't have a melee/close quarter attack. Then use your supers/rockets to kill the majors
Rushing with the sword to kill the ads is worth it, it didn't took much time at least on this video. D2 got sections but still annoying (I'm just gonna use LFG or ask 2 clanmates to at least get the sniper, I'll do Heroic myself until I feel frustrated. I'm one of those solo players). I looked up this video cause I just thought of that since I don't play D1 much cause I let my brother bring it to his studies oversea. I barely touch consoles anyway. I just play games on PC & a bit on phone
Got all the way to the boss fight, started slashing away with a sword with force barrier and armor of light. Got him only to half hp and spent the next 2 minutes trying not to die from every explosive in the game ever. Realized I forgot to turn on warrior of light on the sword. I don't even have the energy to try anymore despite it being my first attempt.
Me and my fireteam decided to go with the tactic of killing every wave in the boss room, and then dps the crap out of him, got it first try with that tactic, I suggest u try it.
I just did mine today and it can be difficult getting through the strike because there are so many enemies with shields. once you get to the pit where the boss is, it's not so difficult. there will be three knights in total and you have to kill the dark blade and the knight that it tells you to kill in the quest within 30 seconds of each other. so I suggest weaking both of them until they are almost dead and i believe you do not have to actually kill them with the sword. it will also be easier to look for a group on the destiny lfg site to find people that have the same sword as you so that you can kill the other two knights and leave the one you need for the quest. hope this helps

I can confirm that if you die the door doesn't close and the door WILL open on the normal lost to light mission node on the moon BUT, the door only opens with the heroic modifier. my team did die a couple times and when we arrived, the door was open

Here's the thing. Its best to go aggressive. Forget the bubble if your a Titan, go Sunbreaker and go ham! If all die in this Taken area, you won't have to restart. You're only going against TIME. Just deal with the blights and dps on the boss. Ran in with a 290 Titan, 292 Hunter and another Titan at 295. Took us 3 tries and got it. And got a ship too!
My teams strategy was I (the Defender) would pop a bubble with Armor Of Light right next to the boss on the platform, the Nightstalker would get a Shadow Shot on the boss and we'd all run up with our swords ( 2 legendary, 1 exotic ) and literally just beat him up. It took 2 runs and then if the bubble popped our Nightstalker would have us vanish in smoke. Once we killed him we took all the blights and wrecked the Taken. We we're at the boss at 7 mins so you need to be fast.
You can do it any time, for it is not the daily for me today and it was available

there is a heroic version of each story mission everyday. so you can get this weapon everyday. just go into the heroic version with 240 light
You can get the weapon on the regular version of the mission it doesn't have to be the daily heroic. But the mission has to be on the 240 light version
Got to the ketch with a 3 man fireteam despite getting killed 3 times. A fireteam member can die but I don't think wiping is accepted. Sadly we didn't complete the final room in time. At the time we thought the boss was the only thing you had to kill which evidently made us focus on the wrong thing entirely.
As long as you are quick dieing doesnt matter. Just get to the door in the 3 orb area fast as you can.
Interesting. That door is closed in the normal (Easy) version but is scannable by Ghost. He says that it has Fallen fingerprints all over it, and wonders what they were up to.
I wonder if other missions have clues in normal mode that Ghost can spot and only unlock in hard mode.
It's amazing how similar the Whisper of the Worm quest is compared to this, 3 rooms, and all enemies must be killed in a certain time to get the weapon. Well done Bungie...
I just did it today with two friends. We had to wipe and reset before getting on the Ketch, but we got it done. It was down to the last second. I had to spray down a Centurion with my shotgun, so we almost didn't get it. Fortunately, we did.
VOG Atheon area seems to be open on the mission where we go back to the gorgons pit might be one to give a second look at datto!
We had 1 person doing constant dos with tlaloc and then myself and another doing ads with the bolt caster and that's how we got it done
this weapon will make the raid alot easier glad they did this and this is how exotics should be earned*
Just for clarity, if anyone dies it's not a showstopper, but if you wipe it's done. We made it through to start the timer and each of us died at least once on the way to the Fallen Ketch
I just got mine with the help of some great friends on Nov. 12, 2015. There was still one blight left when we completed the mission. I don't know if we have to kill them first, or just kill the actual enemies. Either way, this gun is great. Hands down one of the best in Year 2. This is what Bungie's path to old legendary guns seems to be: make them exotic. Ace of Spades is obviously Year 2 Fatebringer, and this is Year 2 Black Hammer. I cannot wait to see what other guns show up unannounced in the game!

I guess we're gonna have to keep our eyes taped open while on daily heroics from now one. Those thunder lord variants are no doubt also hidden exotics. We'll have to wait and see
You can not imagine how hard getting this gun was. Not that the actual mission itself was very difficult but just that nobody wanted a guardian with 286 light. At the end i just ran it all the way to the boss with my friend(280 light) but we couldnt beat him in time. We picked up a 3rd with 289 light and it made everything so much easier and beat with a minute to spare. In a way this is a brag but my main point is that don't be afraid to push your "limits"
if you can do this whenever you want, just selecting the Heroic version of the mission in the director, I wonder if that means this would be a source of inexhaustible Exotic shards/Legendary marks
I got the ship on my first go and I think if you play lost to light as the heroic difficulty not the daily herioc I think you still get black spindle the ship amazing I'm in live with its design
Wow i just did it with 1 friend straight up runned and gunned it with like 30 secs remaining we finished it up it still works plus it doesnt need to be the daily heroic just manually press the mission and put it on hard urself and yeas it works on old gen aswell since i did it on the ps3 loving my black spindle 🔥🔥❤❤

Did it a couple days ago, got it with 30 seconds left. If you don't kill the blights you won't win that's my only advice
yesterday's daily had similar boss, the fanatic of Crota and he spawns at the court if you have complited the 3 first objectives! i didnt manage to kill him because i was alone and he despawned REALLY fast! Pay attention at what your ghost says when that daily comes back! (it will say smthing like "something stepped out of the portal", i dont remember correctly)
Considering i picked up one of those fusion rifles to turn into banshee, that means i probably have to do a rasputin mission. Ill keep you updated
I played with Planet Destiny's Briar Rabbit and we couldn't do it in 4 attempts. Luckily I was able to beat it with some of my clan members. The Sniper is God tier.
i didn't get it yesterday. i am going to add this for when the daily heroic is this again.
At the last room, you want to kill Draviks FIRST. Even before the blights. The blights will respawn and so will more enemies as long as Draviks is still alive. So just kill adds and blights if you need to but focus on Draviks. Having a Defender Titan really helps in this. Just peep in and out to take a shot at him.. After killing Draviks, focus on blights then clean up the adds. Having either a Stormcaller/Hammer of Sol helps to clean out large numbers at once.

It does a ton of damage over 10k.
The fact that it is 310 attack is a bug and it'll be 290 attack in the future. A way to bypass it is to buy one from the weapon blueprints then fuse the 310 on into the 300 one, it'll be 307 but it's better than 290
If you did that then you messed up man. They're nerfing the blueprint one to 280 as well.

just so you know, I completed this mission last night and did not get the gun. my special slots were full and just thought it would go to my postmaster. but it didn't. also, 2 legendary Ingram's didn't go to the postmaster either. both their slots were full as well.
Its up now!!! do it before reset i just did it, 3 warlocks me: 299 others at 305 and 310 and we cut it close but we luckily got it done first try , stormcaller helps, we had 2 stormcallers and 1 sunsinger as insurance, Swords are a god send use them
I think you just have to do it on the 240 light difficulty, cause I noticed that when you play missions on that difficulty they play WAY differently
A ship is also a possible drop from the taken mission variant

got it last room isn't hard if yu priorityze blights and adds bweetwen add pawns damage the boss and it helps A LOT to have a defender with weapons
The best strategy in the final room is o put a defender Titan bubble on the boss and beat the hell out of him with your swords - he doesn't have a melee/close quarter attack. Then use your supers/rockets to kill the majors
Rushing with the sword to kill the ads is worth it, it didn't took much time at least on this video. D2 got sections but still annoying (I'm just gonna use LFG or ask 2 clanmates to at least get the sniper, I'll do Heroic myself until I feel frustrated. I'm one of those solo players). I looked up this video cause I just thought of that since I don't play D1 much cause I let my brother bring it to his studies oversea. I barely touch consoles anyway. I just play games on PC & a bit on phone
Got all the way to the boss fight, started slashing away with a sword with force barrier and armor of light.
Got him only to half hp and spent the next 2 minutes trying not to die from every explosive in the game ever.
Realized I forgot to turn on warrior of light on the sword.
I don't even have the energy to try anymore despite it being my first attempt.

Me and my fireteam decided to go with the tactic of killing every wave in the boss room, and then dps the crap out of him, got it first try with that tactic, I suggest u try it.

Not really, pretty easy
I just did mine today and it can be difficult getting through the strike because there are so many enemies with shields. once you get to the pit where the boss is, it's not so difficult. there will be three knights in total and you have to kill the dark blade and the knight that it tells you to kill in the quest within 30 seconds of each other. so I suggest weaking both of them until they are almost dead and i believe you do not have to actually kill them with the sword. it will also be easier to look for a group on the destiny lfg site to find people that have the same sword as you so that you can kill the other two knights and leave the one you need for the quest. hope this helps
