How a wisdom tooth is removed

- Teeth consist of two main parts, the crown and the root. The root is formed in a way that it can exist beneath the gum tissue, long term. The crown, however, is covered by enamel and formed in a manner that should protrude through the gum for predictable health in the mouth. Having the enamel crown trapped below the gum can result in problems like infection, cyst formation, and gum disease.
This feels so good. It's scary but it's also painless, so If you're getting those tooth removed, don't worry, you won't die.
The part "you won't die" is not helping

Wait but i had to go to the dentist a few times to get my loose tooth out bc for some reason it wouldn't come out or smth and the dentist used an injection to numb that tooth and the area and it hurt yes a little bit so I wanna know, will it hurt more if I get my wisdom tooth removed?
For those of you who are watching this video, you will not be put asleep during the tooth extraction, you will have to be awake/awoke in order for tooth extraction procedures. This video is misleading people on here about you being put to sleep is false. The dentist will "numb" your gum where the tooth is being extracted. This is what will happen before your tooth is being pulled. The dentist will apply this pink jell like substance on a Qtip on your gum area that will numb the area where the decaying or cavity tooth is being pulled, "as you could say the jaw area of your gum", that is the first numb. The second part is that the dentist will apply a "needle type device" that will be inserted on the inside of your mouth on your gum where the tooth is being pulled or operated on. Note: This needle will and i mean will be the final numbification that will numb your jaw as a final on the infected side of your tooth, "yes you will tell that the numbness will kick in within seconds and that's when the dentist proceed to extract your tooth.
1.) Question... Will you feel pain when your tooth is being extracted/taken out?......The answer is "no!". The only irritated thing is when you feel the tooth is being wiggled, twisted and pulled around slowly while the dentist is working with ease and with precaution. You will also feel some irritation while the tooth is being moved around but no pain at all since your gum area is numbed. Also it takes atleast a minimum of 10-15 minutes at the most by beind pulled/extracted out unless your tooth is shaped differently. If your tooth is cracked or shaped differently and the dentist is having a little bit of hard time with the tooth, "it will be drilled on by cutting the tooth to be even out with a very small hand held drilling device ", that will be more irritated to you while your tooth is being drilled on but you will not feel any pain at all, to put it another way, "you will be irritated by the tampering of your tooth by the dentist himself /herself". It will take the dentist in no time to pull that tooth out. Once your tooth is out, "you will have a little blood dripping from your mouth "a little blood mixed with your silava", not that much dripping out but you will be given a cloth like thingy inserted on the area of the hole after the tooth is being removed from the inside of your mouth to stop germs, bacteria and air from entering inside your mouth. The dentist will give you a sheet or a list about what to do and not to do while your gum hole is being exposed from tooth extraction, for instance.... "foods", you will have to eat solid fluid type foods such as "soups, vegetables etc that's soft during the times of healing of the hole inside your mouth while eating". NOTE: practice eating on the opposite of your jaw or use your front choppers to take down chunks of breaking down food into pieces before swallowing. On drinks, you will have to use a straw and drink liquid fluids like juices and water, "stay away from sodas and you smokers do not smoke during the healing of the hole inside of your mouth as days go by,". Give it 2-3 weeks to heal when the hole is being exposed after tooth extraction. The list will also contains info about mouth cleaning while your gum hole is being healed up by your extracted tooth by not letting germs or bacteria infect that hole or get inside. (NOTE) the numbness will ware off atleast 6-7 hours at the most, "i'll say within a day after tooth extraction", the only difference is within that day after tooth extraction "after being sent on your way home by the dentist", is that, "you will be talking a little kind of funny" LIKE YOU HAVE A SPEECH EPIDEMENT" for a short while by sluring or murmuring your words when you speak regularly by the slightest until the numbness wares off but, you will feel great after the day with no pain while leaving the dentist and shrug it off and say to yourself "Ha!, that's not bad at all" while smurking and smiling. Once again, this info is for the people who have never had an tooth extracted by a dentist before if it's going to be your first time. This is coming from a person who had three tooth extracted on separate occasions and one coming soon will be my fourth becuse of no fear of having a tooth extracted by experience ................................. The Dentist is by no means a "Surgeon Doctor" who puts you to sleep!
Thanks once again everyone and sorry for any grammatical errors on my behalf in my comment because im trying to ease your mind once if you are a noob who's new to getting a tooth extracted for the first time.
You're getting a tooth pulled, the dentist is not a surgeon "Doctor" who puts you to sleep to operate on your heart or amputate you in the surgery room. There's no need for you to be put to sleep by getting a tooth extracted! This video is misleading!

Wow your lucky you only got like 4 pulled out I've had like 7 pulled out and I'm 14. About 4 months ago I had 3 teeth pulled out in one sitting
Sorry but they do sometimes put you under at a hospital to take teeth out i was when i had all my wisdom teeth taken out and the ones next to them out
Hello Darren Slyfox You've pretty much got everything correct/covered...However, the part where you stated about the "Straw" thing is INCORRECT, because I was told by the dentist to NOT use a straw particularly during the first couple of days, during the healing process... I just had my top right wisdom tooth removed yesterday, due to decay in that area(that caused a crack in the tooth). I also had "Local Anesthesia" done even though my legs were shaking the entire time during the procedure...& reason being to not use a straw is because from what I've read online & was also told by my own sister, who's a dental assistant, is that using a straw will unfortunately DISLODGE the clot & will take longer for it to heal as well/causing a possible Dry Socket...With that being said, I just thought you ought to know about that tidbit of information :)
Depending on what you request then you will be able to but put to sleep. I had all four of mine removed at once and I was not awake at all. I didn't see the doctors working on my teeth, I didn't feel pressure. I was out completely. It might depend on the doctor but I believe you have a choice to have the numbing injections or to be out asleep
Thanks
I underwent a similar operation a month ago. It was absolutely painless. :)

Yeah I remember being sedated for my first extraction. I just wish they all could have been done back then. I got my top two wisdom teeth pulled today and two weeks ago. I have one more that hasn't come through yet, but my dentist is suggesting I see an oral surgeon to get my last wisdom tooth out. I remember that experience for the first bottom one I had surgically removed. They put the stitch in and it felt weird. Plus there was a funny taste in my mouth. I also remember the loopy feeling after the surgery.
Id rather sleep during the operation more than staying awake its so hard to be awake and u keep opening ur mouth XD

Her voice is so soothing
Just had all 4 of mine removed today, all i really felt was the pressure of something being inserted into my gums which were the tools. I felt the teeth come out as well but it wasnt painful. Didnt feel the sawing of my gums either. I did feel them drilling but it was more of an annoyance than pain.Good luck guys you should be good. Just keep repeating "i got this" in your head like i did lol.
I actually got mine removed on Monday XD I was just curious as to what they did since they put me to sleep for it. I got lucky by only having 3, but I'm pretty sure they were all impacted. I didn't experience a lot of pain other than feeling like someone just punched me in the face. I also have a bruise on my cheek now. The only really bad part was eating pudding, jello, ice cream, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese. I'm 16 btw.
I’m gettin mine removed and I’m 15
Some people have very low pain tolerance. Combine it with the anxiety during dental visits, things could get really difficult for the patient. This is where the option for sedation denstistry comes in to alleviate both physical and psychological trauma.
I went in last week for a consult and right after the X-Ray the intern asked if I wanted it removed that day. I thought about it since I was alone but they assured me it would be fine. In reality everything seems to have gone well. It was a bit nerve wrecking since it was an intern working on my mouth, I wasn't picking up the anesthesia so she shot me like 6 times and she was pressing so hard I thought my jaw would break. I still don't know how I feel about the doctor standing behind her giving her all the instructions out loud. Still, I'm sure that it'll be ok... The only bad thing is that it takes 6 to 8 months for the bone in the jaw to grow back :(
I took a selfie like 10 mins after my surgery... I never was swollen. I got an IV with a booster of calming medication and then they put a small tube in my nose with gas to put me asleep. My teeth were not impacted and has really short roots, but I have severe anxiety so we thought me being asleep would be better. Once I woke up I was fine! No grogginess or anything. Worst part was waiting for the stitches to dissolve and they make eating uncomfortable.
I'm in that weird part of youtube again.
I got my wisdom teeth removed I think 6 months ago because I kept biting the inside of my mouth, one of my wisdom teeth were jammed under one of my molars just like in the video and my gums started growing over top of that tooth as If it would fix everything and no I wasn't put to sleep no matter how much I begged them to knock me out they gave me laughing gas......the only part that got to me was the pressure and when I could hear my tooth being pulled out of my mouth. The worst part was afterwards because since my mouth was so numb I couldn't swallow any pain medication so I was crying for like 3 hours straight waiting to get feeling back in my mouth.
I'm having mine removed in a few weeks, and trust me I thought watching a video of how its done would make the process less scary, but now I'm even more scared than ever.
I wanna be asleep, because atleast at the end I will get a high.
Bloxxos 😂same

Same I don’t wanna be awake during that shit 😂
You won’t be they put you to sleep
Just got 4 removed today, seems there was 2 more stuck behind and another small piece, didn't get put to sleep. The operation didn't hurt at all but the aftermath was really painful for about 3 hours since it took around two hours for the medicine to take effect.
Just had this done this morning. I was put to sleep
I got general anesthetic when I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 17. It looked like milk and felt so weird going in, like kind of stung. But this was interesting to know how they took them out :D
The needle was so freaking thin and long my oral and maxillary facial surgeon had to "insert the needle" into my gums at THREE different angles for both sides. I squeezed the assistant's hands so hard. I could literally HEAR the slicing motion and the sawing of my teeth. I have TMJ so my jaws hurt SO BADLY. Swollen face, really bad and painful. PLUS can't fit my retainers as i can't even stick out my tongue- so i have to deal with teeth shifting pain too.
I got all 4 of mine pulled out about 4 monthes ago😌
When I was 11 I had four teeth taking out while I was awake, it didn’t hurt much, even though they pulled it out with extraction forcepts, you all will be fine.
Mine are lit growing in right now, being terrified of needles I'll be flipping a lid. I have to get my removed in like 2 months, mine are impacted and one has a third root. Wish me luck. :) lol
Sophia Hatfield how did it go?
It's okay. My mouth was sore. Still is a little. But you don't feel anything while youre in surgery. It made my head feel alot lighter. :)
My mom said it will grow if you are teen or kid, (she didn’t say if it will be romoved)
And after she said you don’t need to go dentist if it don’t hurt
(People may find not going to dentist is weird but it’s part of me🙄)
I prefer sleep because, I don't want to wait too long for my wisdom teeth to be remove.
It takes 5 minutes-
@@yaboics5844 takes 5 minutes to feel pain.
I had the same fear going in to get mine removed. Not sure if this applies to everyone, but when I went in, they put laughing gas mask on me and my mind faded as the needle went in. Trust me, when the gas starts to effect you, you don't care WHAT they do to you. You're too looped up on the gas to even care. =P It calms your nerves. Perhaps speak to the assistant and doctor about them using the gas to calm you down? =] It's REALLY not as bad as you imagine! Good luck!
Finally something with a bit more honest view.
It's ridiciulous how much dentist earn removing wisdom 'just in case'.
I dont know about you but my insurance paid for it.
not really about the money, just the fact that so many people are being cut up for absolutely no reason.

yes, it felt like they placed a drill on my back teeth for hours. when i went back to the dentist for a check-up i told him about it and he said it was normal for my teeth to be sensitive and that over time it would go away (im thinking like a few days or a week...but it was more like months 2-3 month when it finally stopped)
BITCH NO I CHOOSE SLEEPING BETTER THAN SEEING MY TEETH MURDERED 😱😱😱😱
Why do we have to have wisdom teeth?? :( what's the point in them? :(
Before we evolved to where we are now, we used to eat food that we hunted, differenty. The wisdom teeth were used to crunch up food that was tougher, but over time we evolved to be much different, as you know. Ours jaws became smaller from evolution over time, resulting in wisdom teeth becoming a problem instead of just being a part of our natural set of teeth. Where before it was normal, today our jaws are smaller and simply can't fit our extra teeth from the past.
If I got anything wrong it's just a mistake. I am speaking off of memory from my first time hearing the wisdom teeth explanation.
@@kenthymes2300 its true I think, I heard the same explanation on why we have wisdom teeth
I had all four wisdom teeth removed together at age 30. The shot wasnt bad neither were three of the four teeth while removed. My one tooth that was painful while being removed was my infected molar i had to get two extra injections for me to bear the pain while being removed. The doctor said it was painful because it was very infected
it's actually safer for you to be awake during this procedure than it is to be under general
I'd rather be asleep! I am not looking forward to that... Just got shivers watching it
Having it local is not that bad I got mines done yesterday you don't feel anything
I got shivers watching this too. I'm not looking forward to this either cause my mom got hers out like last year and it looked like she was in a lot of pain. Plus I don't want to be put on laughing gas. For obvious reasons
JAIDA! The dentist will "Numb" your gum area where the tooth is being extracted. You will feel no pain when your gum is being numbed!
I still rather be asleep
This is old but actually they will put people to sleep depending on how bad the wisdom teeth are. Like if they are impacted. I have an uncle and cousin that was put to sleep becuz there wisdoms were impacted. But when I went to get mine out my dentist just numbed me up and put me on laughing gas. Mine were not impacted.
I had 4 wisdom teeth removed. If i could go back in time with what i know now i would definitely NOT have them removed. i was on pain meds afterwords but that pain was unbelievable still. I threw up blood the first day I was home and i could barely eat for a long time after surgery. The taste in my mouth was horrific too. IT SUCKS SO BAD.
Today I got my wisdom tooth removed, doc. gave me local anesthesia (two injection) 1st one was okay but second one was a little heavy, after around 10-15 mins he removed my Impacted lower wisdom tooth the whole process was done through laser method . Mine wisdom teeth was a little stubborn not wanting to come out as a whole then doc. Broke it into some pieces . While removing you feel some pressure as molars have strong roots require more efforts while removing
Man MY DENTIST DID NOTHING LIKE THIS. She pulled mine out with some pliers and I literally heard the bone crack. I thought the bone in my face, collapsed.

But I've heard that its better to take them out, cus they hurt when they erupt and just cause you more trouble. :) and if you need to take both out, you don't do it at the same time.
Im getting mine removed on Friday, and this really gives me the idea of whats going to happen. But I seriously would rather be asleep in all my extractions rather than having just local anesthesia even if I only have one impacted wisdom tooth. :|

1 was inpacted and had to be cut and drilled out and shit. Took a bit out of ma yaw.
And 1 was a little impacted but could be taken out with only some gum cutting.
And 1 was just normal.
And i didn't feel a thing. you can only feel some pressure on your yaw. Thats It.
Get some decent anaesthetic. No shitty lauch gas. Just needles. 2 per tooth so i had 6.
Thats the only thing you feel.
But of the pulling and all that stuff, you really really don't feel a thing.
I was shitting my pants when it was my turn at the dentist. But meanwhile i was just laughing at that dude with its weird mask above me.
But now 4 days later it still hurts. so get some good painkillers if you want to get some sleep the first 10 days.

Trust me, it will hurt even worse if you don't have local anesthetic. I didn't feel anything when the dentist injected the local anesthetic
Thnx for the tutorial i was able to do it perfectly
You don't need to get them removed, but people however get them removed because they grow differently and it's painful when they start growing through the gums.
For all you people who would rather be put to sleep during this, just know they give you an IV and the IV usually takes several times. It took them 5 tries for the needle to be in a good vein. Extremely painful
remove bone stay awake no no no

I wasn't put to sleep and really there was just a little discomfort and little pressure. Bottom ones were impacted and top came rite out.
