How a wisdom tooth is removed

- Teeth consist of two main parts, the crown and the root. The root is formed in a way that it can exist beneath the gum tissue, long term. The crown, however, is covered by enamel and formed in a manner that should protrude through the gum for predictable health in the mouth. Having the enamel crown trapped below the gum can result in problems like infection, cyst formation, and gum disease.
This feels so good. It's scary but it's also painless, so If you're getting those tooth removed, don't worry, you won't die.
The part "you won't die" is not helping
@@kalamanders LOL
@@kalamanders You may need painkillers for a few days, but so what? Get rid of a tormenter wisdom tooth NOW. It is better than doing nothing.
@@TheWuschelMUC my teeth may be like this and im worried about the pain and the docs giving me weak pain meds
@@Floppa221 i only needed pain meds for the first day and they will probably prescribe ibuprofen

I just got 7 teeth removed today.

I'm getting mine removed next week and was very nervous. this has actually helped me calm down about it, since I can see exactly what they'll do and that the person getting them removed doesn't seem to feel it at all. thanks for posting.

Wait but i had to go to the dentist a few times to get my loose tooth out bc for some reason it wouldn't come out or smth and the dentist used an injection to numb that tooth and the area and it hurt yes a little bit so I wanna know, will it hurt more if I get my wisdom tooth removed?
Just had my second wisdom tooth extraction. The operation isn't bad. I takes 20 minutes, and you don't feel any pain. The second time, I got some pre-medication that calmed me, and it actually made the operation quite fun.

Me: OH HELL NAH
Yeah I remember being sedated for my first extraction. I just wish they all could have been done back then. I got my top two wisdom teeth pulled today and two weeks ago. I have one more that hasn't come through yet, but my dentist is suggesting I see an oral surgeon to get my last wisdom tooth out. I remember that experience for the first bottom one I had surgically removed. They put the stitch in and it felt weird. Plus there was a funny taste in my mouth. I also remember the loopy feeling after the surgery.
There’s something satisfying about vids like these.
Just got 4 removed today, seems there was 2 more stuck behind and another small piece, didn't get put to sleep. The operation didn't hurt at all but the aftermath was really painful for about 3 hours since it took around two hours for the medicine to take effect.
Some people have very low pain tolerance. Combine it with the anxiety during dental visits, things could get really difficult for the patient. This is where the option for sedation denstistry comes in to alleviate both physical and psychological trauma.
I actually got mine removed on Monday XD I was just curious as to what they did since they put me to sleep for it. I got lucky by only having 3, but I'm pretty sure they were all impacted. I didn't experience a lot of pain other than feeling like someone just punched me in the face. I also have a bruise on my cheek now. The only really bad part was eating pudding, jello, ice cream, mashed potatoes, and Mac and cheese. I'm 16 btw.
I’m gettin mine removed and I’m 15
My mom said it will grow if you are teen or kid, (she didn’t say if it will be romoved)
And after she said you don’t need to go dentist if it don’t hurt
(People may find not going to dentist is weird but it’s part of me🙄)
Just had all 4 of mine removed today, all i really felt was the pressure of something being inserted into my gums which were the tools. I felt the teeth come out as well but it wasnt painful. Didnt feel the sawing of my gums either. I did feel them drilling but it was more of an annoyance than pain.Good luck guys you should be good. Just keep repeating "i got this" in your head like i did lol.
Why do we have to have wisdom teeth?? :( what's the point in them? :(
Before we evolved to where we are now, we used to eat food that we hunted, differenty. The wisdom teeth were used to crunch up food that was tougher, but over time we evolved to be much different, as you know. Ours jaws became smaller from evolution over time, resulting in wisdom teeth becoming a problem instead of just being a part of our natural set of teeth. Where before it was normal, today our jaws are smaller and simply can't fit our extra teeth from the past.
If I got anything wrong it's just a mistake. I am speaking off of memory from my first time hearing the wisdom teeth explanation.
@@kenthymes2300 its true I think, I heard the same explanation on why we have wisdom teeth
I'm in that weird part of youtube again.
I wanna be asleep, because atleast at the end I will get a high.
Bloxxos 😂same
Bloxxos get a high?
Facts bruh you get really high
Same I don’t wanna be awake during that shit 😂
You won’t be they put you to sleep
I had the same fear going in to get mine removed. Not sure if this applies to everyone, but when I went in, they put laughing gas mask on me and my mind faded as the needle went in. Trust me, when the gas starts to effect you, you don't care WHAT they do to you. You're too looped up on the gas to even care. =P It calms your nerves. Perhaps speak to the assistant and doctor about them using the gas to calm you down? =] It's REALLY not as bad as you imagine! Good luck!
Just had this done this morning. I was put to sleep
When I was 11 I had four teeth taking out while I was awake, it didn’t hurt much, even though they pulled it out with extraction forcepts, you all will be fine.
it's actually safer for you to be awake during this procedure than it is to be under general
BITCH NO I CHOOSE SLEEPING BETTER THAN SEEING MY TEETH MURDERED 😱😱😱😱
Finally something with a bit more honest view.
It's ridiciulous how much dentist earn removing wisdom 'just in case'.
I dont know about you but my insurance paid for it.
not really about the money, just the fact that so many people are being cut up for absolutely no reason.

I'd rather be asleep! I am not looking forward to that... Just got shivers watching it
Having it local is not that bad I got mines done yesterday you don't feel anything
I got shivers watching this too. I'm not looking forward to this either cause my mom got hers out like last year and it looked like she was in a lot of pain. Plus I don't want to be put on laughing gas. For obvious reasons
JAIDA! The dentist will "Numb" your gum area where the tooth is being extracted. You will feel no pain when your gum is being numbed!
I still rather be asleep
This is old but actually they will put people to sleep depending on how bad the wisdom teeth are. Like if they are impacted. I have an uncle and cousin that was put to sleep becuz there wisdoms were impacted. But when I went to get mine out my dentist just numbed me up and put me on laughing gas. Mine were not impacted.
Her voice is so soothing
Mine are lit growing in right now, being terrified of needles I'll be flipping a lid. I have to get my removed in like 2 months, mine are impacted and one has a third root. Wish me luck. :) lol
Sophia Hatfield how did it go?
It's okay. My mouth was sore. Still is a little. But you don't feel anything while youre in surgery. It made my head feel alot lighter. :)
Its 2 am on a Thursday and I've watched 6 of these wisdom teeth animations.. *send help*
I had 4 wisdom teeth removed. If i could go back in time with what i know now i would definitely NOT have them removed. i was on pain meds afterwords but that pain was unbelievable still. I threw up blood the first day I was home and i could barely eat for a long time after surgery. The taste in my mouth was horrific too. IT SUCKS SO BAD.
You don't need to get them removed, but people however get them removed because they grow differently and it's painful when they start growing through the gums.
I got general anesthetic when I got my wisdom teeth out when I was 17. It looked like milk and felt so weird going in, like kind of stung. But this was interesting to know how they took them out :D
Man MY DENTIST DID NOTHING LIKE THIS. She pulled mine out with some pliers and I literally heard the bone crack. I thought the bone in my face, collapsed.
I prefer sleep because, I don't want to wait too long for my wisdom teeth to be remove.
It takes 5 minutes-
@@yaboics5844 takes 5 minutes to feel pain.
Had to remove all four of mine :O Awake the whole process with Novacaine numbing and nothing to stare at but a white ceiling and a small fan, but now I have a cavity and orajel is the only thing keeping me sane O_o
I got all 4 of mine pulled out about 4 monthes ago😌
I had all four wisdom teeth removed together at age 30. The shot wasnt bad neither were three of the four teeth while removed. My one tooth that was painful while being removed was my infected molar i had to get two extra injections for me to bear the pain while being removed. The doctor said it was painful because it was very infected
I got my wisdom teeth removed I think 6 months ago because I kept biting the inside of my mouth, one of my wisdom teeth were jammed under one of my molars just like in the video and my gums started growing over top of that tooth as If it would fix everything and no I wasn't put to sleep no matter how much I begged them to knock me out they gave me laughing gas......the only part that got to me was the pressure and when I could hear my tooth being pulled out of my mouth. The worst part was afterwards because since my mouth was so numb I couldn't swallow any pain medication so I was crying for like 3 hours straight waiting to get feeling back in my mouth.
I took a selfie like 10 mins after my surgery... I never was swollen. I got an IV with a booster of calming medication and then they put a small tube in my nose with gas to put me asleep. My teeth were not impacted and has really short roots, but I have severe anxiety so we thought me being asleep would be better. Once I woke up I was fine! No grogginess or anything. Worst part was waiting for the stitches to dissolve and they make eating uncomfortable.
I won't take the general anesthesia....what if I fart while I'm passed out :(
DementedButtHole lol
IM DYING HAHAU
I had oral surgery last week and this was a genuine concern of mine! xD
What if you get a boner?🤔🤔🤔🤔
It will be so loud I doubt the dentist will hear it.
Im gettin mine out the day before valentines day so you can all shut up lolol
Coleen Soos damn
I got mine out the day after Valentine's Day
I got mine out about 3 weeks after.. I know it's not much, but haha I had to say it.
I got mine pulled yesterday, 4 days before my birthday... And in 2 days I am going to a sushi restaurant for my bday dinner... hope I can eat them 😱
Everyone coming on here saying they're scared, I got all mine removed yesterday and it was quick, easy, and painless. It still doesn't even hurt that bad. I don't remember a thing.

Hell yeah, Its almost been a year. Its very close. It was a suffer. Good thing, No dry sockets :P
I got all my 4 wisdom teeth removed under local anesthesia, recovery went smoothly
I HAD MINE REMOVED TODAY!
The needle was so freaking thin and long my oral and maxillary facial surgeon had to "insert the needle" into my gums at THREE different angles for both sides. I squeezed the assistant's hands so hard. I could literally HEAR the slicing motion and the sawing of my teeth. I have TMJ so my jaws hurt SO BADLY. Swollen face, really bad and painful. PLUS can't fit my retainers as i can't even stick out my tongue- so i have to deal with teeth shifting pain too.
I'm getting four of my wisdom teeth out today :(
How was it?
I'd really like to know.
loreto gonzalez I got only one wisdom teeth coming. What about the rest three of em.. Or will I remain a fool my entire life :(
Man, I can now feel my wisdom tooth growing in my upper left jaw
This is completely wrong. They recommend u get wisdom teeth pulled out regardless of impaction because they are prone to infection. Second THEY KNOCK U TF OUT. I wish a doctor would give me "local anthestisa" while I'm getting out my wisdom teeth.
DA REAL Johnny Appleseed I DON'T WANT MINE PULLED OUT I LIKE MY TEETH WHERE THEY ARE EVEN IF THEY HURT ME IDC D':
i got 4 of my wisdom teeth removed while i was awake and it was quick like 15 minutes and no pain ... the worst thing is the recovery process but 1-10 pain level i give it a 2..
I'm scared of getting my wisdom teeth removed :(
Me too
Funny story: the dentist prepped a site for the local anesthetic, except when the nurse came in she injected it on the *other* side of my gum 😆 Hurt like hell, but with that and the delicious vanilla-scented laughing gas, I didn't feel a thing during the operation. Was just drifting in my own thoughts.
I got mine out the second way and I didn't feel anything until after and the doctor was so mean he didn't say anything came in have me the shots left came back and started cutting open my mouth and he got blood all over my light grey hoodie i was so mad and after he was done he just got up and left so I wasn't sure if I could leave or what was happening
***** Seriously... that's pretty shitty.
Anaya Hernandez that's a horrible experience
Oh wow see i would had punch his ass in his mouth
I went in last week for a consult and right after the X-Ray the intern asked if I wanted it removed that day. I thought about it since I was alone but they assured me it would be fine. In reality everything seems to have gone well. It was a bit nerve wrecking since it was an intern working on my mouth, I wasn't picking up the anesthesia so she shot me like 6 times and she was pressing so hard I thought my jaw would break. I still don't know how I feel about the doctor standing behind her giving her all the instructions out loud. Still, I'm sure that it'll be ok... The only bad thing is that it takes 6 to 8 months for the bone in the jaw to grow back :(
I'm ok with the tooth part,But the needle? THE NEEDLE? uuuubhhg ;/
Trust me, it will hurt even worse if you don't have local anesthetic. I didn't feel anything when the dentist injected the local anesthetic
youre the first person to sleep at a sleepover
I came here after seeing Mark having his wishdom teeth removed.. looks so freaking painful >_
Hallejuh this video made me comfortable so when ai grow up I don't need to feel the pain because I will ask the doctor this "Can you make me asleep".
Got 3 removed last thuesday.
1 was inpacted and had to be cut and drilled out and shit. Took a bit out of ma yaw.
And 1 was a little impacted but could be taken out with only some gum cutting.
And 1 was just normal.
And i didn't feel a thing. you can only feel some pressure on your yaw. Thats It.
Get some decent anaesthetic. No shitty lauch gas. Just needles. 2 per tooth so i had 6.
Thats the only thing you feel.
But of the pulling and all that stuff, you really really don't feel a thing.
I was shitting my pants when it was my turn at the dentist. But meanwhile i was just laughing at that dude with its weird mask above me.
But now 4 days later it still hurts. so get some good painkillers if you want to get some sleep the first 10 days.
4 molars coming out in a row for me aghh
Yasmin Varela yep same with me all 4 in one day!!!!! Talk about pain after the anaesthetic wore off!!! Yaouch!!!!
Haha lol
you basically don't the only thing you can really get down is soup, applesauce, yogurt, and really softened ice-cream.
For all you people who would rather be put to sleep during this, just know they give you an IV and the IV usually takes several times. It took them 5 tries for the needle to be in a good vein. Extremely painful
I clicked on animation screen to watch it again, but it just stopped.
I got them removed and I was awake during the procedure ! I didn't feel a thing and it was satisfying and it's it's not even as bad as people make it out to be...
Are you sure ?
Im getting my permanent teeth pulled
it doesn't hurt my dentist just put the numbing thing and they they took it out and it felt like nothing but after a few hours it started to hurt a bit.
When u fall asleep first at a sleepover 🤡
Cringed the whole damn video
Oh so did I! I wasn't scared or anything to get them out but now I am :/
Cringed at your photo the whole video
yes, it felt like they placed a drill on my back teeth for hours. when i went back to the dentist for a check-up i told him about it and he said it was normal for my teeth to be sensitive and that over time it would go away (im thinking like a few days or a week...but it was more like months 2-3 month when it finally stopped)
remove bone stay awake no no no
no its possible to develop a cystic lesion and its may cause ID nerve damage
so always impacted teeth must be extracted unless the patient refuse the treatment in this case you must follow up your condition via x-rays every 4-6 month .
I got mine removed . One of mine was growing into my cheek and I got really bad dry socket . And the one that grew into my cheek after removal of the one that grew into my cheek the stitches in that one were so tight it tore my gums and inner cheek and socket and I still have problems with my mouth so think long and hard before you decide to get them out cuz I have complications and it's almost a year 1-9-16 it will be a full year
+Alyssa Chalue congrats today is your one year anniversary xD
+UA-cam Now still dealing with infections tho
You just had an awful doctor. Hope things have gotten better since.
I'm having mine removed in a few weeks, and trust me I thought watching a video of how its done would make the process less scary, but now I'm even more scared than ever.
I would rather sleep than stay awake
Same I'm getting worried :p
I got this done today, all 4. Hell yeah I went to sleep! Minute they're talking to me about how I missed out on the 80's and telling me the aesthetic works quick. Next minute I feel like I'm floating on a cloud for a good two seconds. After that I woke up in a hospital bed with the nurses telling me to get ready for ice cream. Everyone shitting bricks, its all good friends. Don't panic. You get treated like royalty if you get put to sleep. Can't talk for staying awake, I'm too much of a bitch for that.
OOOOH HELL NAWWWWWW
“Look who fell asleep first”
I get mine out tomorrow
I'll be dead tomorrow
Jk
Are u ok now?😀
Now I know I'm not going to the dentist ever again
So does this mean not ALL people need to be removing their wisdom teeth?
I'm 5 years late, but heh. Yes, some people really don't need to take out theirs. its either they have enough space in their mouth, the tooth is actually aligned well or its not causing problems for them.
mainly the reason why people take out wisdom teeth is because its pressing against other teeth, which can cause infections and sometimes decay.
When my dentist pulled my four wisdom I was awake. They removed all four the same day. All i got was injections in the mouth roughly 16 of them. After that i didn't feel much pain, just a lot of pressure. All he did was scrap my gums off the actual tooth to get a grip of them.
I didn't have to go to to the hospital to get mine removed, and I was completely asleep. My person asked me if I wanted to be awake, awake but out of it, or asleep completely. With no regard what soever to the positions of my teeth.
If my wisdom tooth hurt my jaw I'd be like "FAQ IT, I'D RATHER FEEL PAIN OF THE WISDOM TOOTH THEN HAVE SOMEONE PULL IT OUT"
Green Ice agree
Damn, 2008 animations were some pretty good ass development (Don't even know if that makes any sense!).
"You will stay awake during the operation"
when i heard my dentist say that i was just like "nope nope nope nope im DEFINETLEY not doing that, i think ill keep my wisdom teeth thank you very much"
This is so satisfying to watch when you have a toothaches.
It’s not that bad - if anything it’s a huge relief getting it out. I’d rather have it removed than put up with a rotting painful tooth.
WAIT SO IF I WANNA GO TO SLEEP I NEED TO GO TO THE HOSPITAL? MAN SCREW THE DENTIST
