- I was in deep conflict with myself in relation to posting this… Seaside Hotel ( Badehotellet ) is a Danish show which you’ve probably never seen or heard of so… this video is probably not interesting for many of you. But whatever I just had a craving for editing this show, it is honestly so great and funny. I also kinda like the way the video turned out so… I ended up posting it anyway:)

I gave this series a try and was surprised at how much it grew on me. The characters are rich, and there are so many to like. Some of them grow and mature in ways I find profound and beautiful. Some carry within them greatness but don't realize it because they also have true humility. Some are very selfless. They are all so unique. Even the looks are so diverse! The period is nostalgic and memorable, even though it was not an easy time for the world to weather. It is warm and amusing and homey. There is an underlying sense of decency, despite all of the typical character flaws and failures and robust wantonness. I was very moved by one character, who could have been destroyed by a betrayal, but instead stated: With all of the disturbing hate in the world right now, it just seemed that choosing to love more, not less, was the right way to move forward." The setting and culture of Denmark made this series particularly novel and endearing to me. It was nice to immerse. I think it is underrated and memorable.
If there is a way to be able to watch (with English Subtitles from the U.S.) seasons 5 to the end, I would like to know. It is very hard to get through season 4 and have no way to continue. Thanks for putting this up. It's nicely done.
In season four presently and adore the kitchen scenes, bedroom wallpapers and characters! Oh nooo..no English subtitles for season five to the end? Let us know if you find it!

I totally agree with your comment although my first experience was season 7 that was broadcasted last year. This year I got the opportunity to see the rest of the series when fortunately the streaming company decided not only to broadcast season 8 but also all the other seasons. I therefore decided to see the series from the start and rewatch season 7. I became very captured in the series and wanted to see the next episode as soon as the episode ended. So now I've completed the viewing of all eight seasons within 1,5 weeks. Luckily I'm from Sweden and can understand danish although I did use the swedish subtitles. Perhaps I rewatch it without the swedish subtitles next time. And I really hope there will be a season 9, 10, 11,12,13,14,15 and so on.
To watch all 8 seasons in the USA, u need pbs passport or paid subscription with prime. I may have to pull the trigger and pay bc my pbs station will start a season then quit till unannounced return. They are on s. 4 on 1 pbs station and another had started s.5 but have stopped idk if it's bc of holidays or what, but after 3 or 4 episodes they've left me hanging!!. I'm in the Midwest 🤞🤞🤞

@@user-hs2qc5do1o Hi there.. This is a Danish production and there is made 9 seasons as of now. The last season will be filmed doing the summer next year and be on TV in Denmark in the beginning of 2024. Just to share the information.

I have been binging this show recently for a second time, and on a whim decided to give it a youtube search. I don’t know what i thought i’d find, but i certainly wouldn’t dream of there being any actual edits. And then i see this video, and i am absolutely blown away by how great it is!! Your editing style is so beautiful, the coloring is spot on, everything is perfect!
Seeing this literally made my entire week, so thats for making an edit of this marvelous show. It might be a long shot, but i would absolutely LOVE it if you’d vid it more!

It's difficult for me to choose between this wonderfully comic melodrama and Foyle's War as to the best of the series in Masterpiece Theatre's history. In both series the characters are so carefully wrought, & the plots so compellingly written that to choose one over the other tasks my judgment past its limit.

Actually I am a Danish/American double citizen living in Aarhus and I have watched this show in Danish for years now. Your video highlights the romance aspect of the series, but there is also a lot of comedy. I like it because it balances the humorous with the very serious it is both romantic and a bit soap opera like but can also be very light hearted and fun. For a Dane it mirrors much about my adopted culture as a Dane while also delving into the history of the country and culture.
I'm so late to this, not sure if anyone will read but I LOVE this series. Just found it this past week and can't stop watching. I found it while searching for something similar to The Durrells in Corfu. I love time pieces. Anyway, beautiful video. Thank you : )
LOVE the series. Several of the Seaside Hotel actors you will find in the Amazon Prime series 'Into the Darkness', which will leave Prime in a couple of weeks. Looks at the division in a Danish family when the Nazis arrive and people have to choose sides for their own welfare.

Hi fellow fans, I was hoping someone could answer a question since I cant get PBS passport. What happens to Otto Frigh once he and Alice separate? Does he eventually die?
Spoiler alert. Otto comes back to the hotel the next summer, as does Alice. He seems to regret his past actions, and tries to win Alice back. She is kind to him and seems to appreciate his change in attitude, but resists. One night at the end of summer she agrees to sleep with him, though it doesn’t seem like a long-term change of heart.. When she wakes in the morning next to him, she discovers that he has died.
The original music is SO MUCH BETTER.
Is there a way to watch it and NOT have to give Amazon more $??
Not that I know of but you an always call your local PBS station, or sign up for a PBS Passport. That way you support your station and it gies you access to at leat 8 seasons of the show. (But I would confirm that they actualy offer it. Mine does but only on Passport.)
