One thing i will say about his mother, she is spot on about people and their intentions. She is never wrong like she says. Even down to Bertha selling her daughter lol. In addition, the heart of the show is the relationship between Bertha and George; they fight and make up but they have to stay united. Even though they are based on the Vanderbilts, I think it would be great if Gladys gets a happy ending, and the Russells stay together.
Bertha can't force Gladys to marry the duke, so it's all about how she'll convince Gladys to marry him. I don't see a divoce happening frír George and Bertha. They are still very much in love.

In the 19th Century homosexuality was not accepted in anyway - and would destroy a person. Therefore, a gay man and woman would marry to hide their real inclinations. If she does however force her daughter to do that then as much as I like her I’m not gonna have a lot of sympathy for her if George divorce her and if the daughter ends up not speaking to her.

No, Larry is his own character as George is not based on Alva Vanderbilts husband. He is based on another robber baron or a complication of them.

This show is very disappointing. The dialogue is absolute drivel, the plot’s predictable as well as unrealistic. Awful.
This series is awful. Christine Baranski is a great actress but this role is not good for her. And the russells are not nice people.
I think Christine is awesome. She is REALLY acting in this role. She is more affected than the rest of the cast but SO SO much fun to watch.
