My boyfriend recently had his arm amputated above the elbow, and he says he can still feel his fingers and wrist and like squeezing his fist etc, he lost it over the summer though, so I’m not sure if the phantom limb stuff starts to happen less and less as time goes on.

She spoke about it in her last video on it I think, she showed herself moving her ‘fingers’ on her amputated arm and you can see the tendons moving in her forearm that would have been attempted to those fingers/hand. It’s so interesting, definitely can’t comprehend it!

@@mollyreed449 I don't think so I had a much much older cousin that lost his left hand and forearm in Vietnam. And when I was child around 2000, he told me could still feel his hand and forearm. And that was about 40 years later. So, I don't know it probably depends on the person.

Ethan MacLean its actually a thing 😂 amputees can feel like ghost pain from a limb or hand even though its not there. its the "leftover" nerves still in the nearby bodypart/limb. im studying it in science rn

A contractor up a ladder, repairing a roller retractable door where I work got his glove caught in the roller mechanism.
Basically got his hand dragged round the roller, it snapped off at the wrist..just the tendons holding it on and three fingers detached.
Amazingly the John Radcliff hospital in Oxford was able reattach everything except for one finger that was too badly crushed.
Poor sod didn't get any compensation because he was working alone up a ladder and not wearing the proper gloves...all this two weeks before Christmas.

Mikael “Most girls are not hairy” that’s inaccurate. I wouldn’t say “most”. Some women are, some women aren’t. I doesn’t mean ones better than the other. It varies through ethnicity, genes, etc. There’s also quite a lot of women that shave, wax or lazer their arm hairs (a whole bunch of celebrities and models are full body lazered). There’s absolutely no reason to point out Kristie’s arm hairs. It’s disgusting for you guys to do.

I rescued my dad in July of 2017. He ran his truck off the road and down and embankment into the woods in front of my house. His arm was out the window and a tree partially broke his arm off. It was just hanging by tendons and muscle. I saw it happen from my living room and rushed to the scene. I had to climb through the passenger window to get to him. I used my belt as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding while we waited on EMT. He almost died from blood loss. They successfully reattached everything at Baptist Wake Forest Medical facility after 14 hours. He was in a cast for a long time and didn’t regain much function until this year after lots of physical therapy. He can now open doors, hold things, and move fingers one by one, but making a fist is still difficult. Really glad they were able to save it since he is an HVAC. Still has been waiting on disability since the accident though. No body will hire him and he’s getting very discouraged and depressed.
I’m so sorry about your accident, but I’m glad you have such a positive attitude.

Medical bills have to be payed by the other party though. But most americans wants to see even more money out of it, they use the situation to get rich. Sometimes the parents uses their kids... Which is poor. Daddy is millionair because their son accidentally drove off a cliff. They sued the cliff and won. Too bad the cliff is in debt for the rest of his life and has no home...

I lost my leg when I was 3. For many many years (From the time I was a teenager to just a few years ago) I blamed my leg for my inability to dance.
Then a few years ago I saw a video about an amputee dancer. Her amputation was about the same level as mine and she was so good she won competitions against AB dancers.
It made me realize my inability to dance was just down to a lack of talent.
In truth my leg has not stopped me from doing anything I wanted to do. I believe that you can do just about anything if you want it bad enough. I just didn't want to dance badly enough.
I've had experts tell me that there are things no leg amputee can do, like hiking to the river and back in one day at the Grand Canyon. It just goes to show, experts don't know that much, most of the time. The only person who can tell you what your limits are is you. I know my own limitations from a lifetime of testing them.
"If you think you can't, you won't."
Have you ever seen Simona Atzori dance?

And the reason of you not remembering is that your brain 'flagged' this as a very traumatic memory so it 'decided' not to keep it... it just kind of 'deleted' it right after it happened. -- I don't know how else to say that.

I can relate with what you have experienced. My Daughter was 9 months old when she lost two fingers on her right hand .
She was watching the motion of an exercise bicycle wheels and she was very curious and her fingers got caught in the wheel and she lost two fingers at the joints.
I fully understand about the attachment because even though I put her fingers on ice , the hand surgeon advised not to reattach them because there would be no function an of no use. She had 4 surgeries to make a base for her fingers and prosthesis was recommended when she was old enough, but she chose not to do that and is 36 years old today and her fingers function beautifully and she has accepted and never been embarrassed about her amputation. She uses both hands also.
I can see that your attitude is positive also and you are strong.
Keep up the good fight. God bless.

Never heard of you, but like others in the comments you were in my recommended. I love seeing people trying to inspire others after a story like this. What you said is fairly accurate in ALL cases but telling Drs what your careers/hobbies are does factor hugely in their decision on if they'll attempt a reattachment or not. i'm happy you're okay and nothing worse happened in your accident. Reattachment can be very scary and sometimes cause worse problems so usually a much safer choice to not reattach!

I’ve seen a woman in the hospital once who had her whole foot cut off and put back on and still works.
    The strangest thing ever!

Know it has been some timefrom accident, but love your attitude and you seeing it now all as a blessing. You will touch and give hope to so many who have had some trauma in their life like this. Thank you!

Thank you for sharing your story Kristie! I have a chronic illness and most of the time it’s hard to resist the limitations I have. But whenever I watch your videos I feel very inspired that you do so much and don’t let your amputation get in your way. God is using you in the perfect way, keep doing what you’re doing! ❤️
