I have buddies that are harley guys and they all put the piston in the jug just to the bottom of the oil ring land, seems to make assembly a lot smoother and less time that the flywheel is exposed.
How was the chain to do? I’m wanting to do mine but reluctant to do it. The bike has very low hrs and I’m not sure it needs it but I know it couldn’t hurt.🥴😬
@@ChadMyers73 I come from the world of motorbikes where a piston is changed about every 60 hours, but with an LTZ I would use it in the countryside and in the woods, so I wanted to know if it is necessary to change the piston every few hours, and if so how often?
So you rebuilt this with 94mm bore and left the top end stock. Wouldn't that choke the motor? I would go with kibblewhite diamond valves, kibblewhite diamond spring kit, with a stage 2 hotcams, Keihin FCR Carburetor. And for the exhaust I would do a full aftermarket replacement like a Big gun or Yoshimura RS-2 Series Slip on muffler with a FMF Powerbomb header. Then that upgrade will be complete. My experience you can't just change the jug and piston and expect performance gains.
Heyyy i have a question (might be stupid question) my exhaust cam was causing a ticking noise on my LTZ 400 i figures since im going in the engine and replacing it id doo a top end, does my cylinder have too be Rehoned ? Or am i aloud too just throw a new OEM piston in there with fresh rings
I have a Z400 that was parked about 4 years ago I drained all the gas and clean the carburetor could not get it to start I put a compression gauge on it and it is reading 0 I don't see how it could have blown up not running any ideas?
Did you put oil in the cylinder and do a compression test that way also. If you do that and you then have compression then the rings are rusted and stuck. You'll just have to re-ring it. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!
i would put some pb blaster in cylinder and roll it down hill in highest gear without a spark plug ... should a break loose without any damage... works for me
@@danpmatz add oil to cylinder, with spark plug removed, find and transcend down big hill in gear, 3rd gear preferably, insert spark plug and wire, should fire up and be good
Dude, as far as the weather it's not much better down south. I'm north bound in the Mississippi River and as soon as I came through I-10 bridge it was like someone flipped a switch. From heavy fog to 35 mph winds and holding. Mother nature is angry.
I’ll be the 1st to admit I really don’t know much about the aftermarket world of these bikes. I found it on Facebook marketplace. 🤷♂️ Thanks For Watching!
I found it easier to put the piston in the cylinder before putting the wrist pin in. Less screwing around i think.
Thanks for the tip.

What is the gap on the cam?
YAAAAY TOOL TECH TUESDAY!!!!!!
Will have some Olsa tools on today!
Chad Myers73 is there any bottom end rebuild video on the z400 I’m working on mine and running into problems assembling the transmission

I found it fairly easy to do just make sure and count your links
I would like to get an LTZ 400, could you tell me what extraordinary maintenance it has? and every how many hours? for example piston
I didn’t care for those engines at all. Parts are becoming harder and harder to find.

Just like all other 4 strokes they need changed about 50 to 75 hours. With 2 strokes being about 25 hours
Thanks for the video, this is an excellent resource.
Your welcome!
Will there be a part 2 video?
Yes ran into a issue...
Forgive me for the noob question, but what does the big bore kit bring the CC's up too?
It makes it a 440 and the only dump ? is the 1 that is unasked.....

Stock cams and bigger piston and cylinder
J/W, Have you done this already?
I just rebilled mine and the anifrez part of the gasket broke and it is burning anifreaze
How much is the camshaft torque
The caps get torqued to 10nm or 7ft lbs.
The Cummins intro😂
Grate video
Thanks for watching

I would say it probably depends on how much where are scarring is in the cylinder
@@ChadMyers73 thank you!!

@@ChadMyers73 do you think just stuck Rings would have it reading as low as 0
Dan Matz Yes it is possible. Put a tablespoon of oil in the cylinder and recheck if still no compression than there is a valve issue.

Gotta love Ohio weather...
Lol, Louisiana isn't much better.
Nice vid but where is the testfire?
Well we found another issue with the engine that needs to be addressed with the cases. I will have more info soon. Thanks for Watching!
Спасибо! Ты мне помог найти свою ошибку.
