if you want a more ✨casual✨ version of the pod every now and then you could also do something like pajama episodes where you don’t get ready or don’t have a perfect setup or record by candle light etc and it’s all about cozy casual vibes 👀
I liked the idea of certain books being friends, maybe a future book game tag like the hot books? A friend book of certain favorites, or perhaps an enemy? Different Book relationships: childhood besties, annoying neighbor, starcrossed loves, endless silly possibilities
Raeleen's excited "give it to me" at the East of Eden news was so good hahah and OMG what a lovely little homage to the pod on Lights! cant wait to pick it up!
3:36 What a day to come back to this episode. Today Delhi recorded a record temperature of 52.3 °c. The worst summer in forever! Global warming is real and it's here and we need to fix it somehow
Katie Marie just put out her wrap up and discusses the Ehlers Danlos Syndrome representation in Fourth Wing 🐉 I’m sure that’s not something you come across often Ariel so I wanted to let you know in case you’re ever looking for that representation in your reads.
Oh Ariel you love short memoirs, you should read Dependency by Tove Ditlevsen! You can read it separately even though it's a trilogy about different stages of her life. This 3rd part about her adult life is definitely a masterpiece.
Glad to see on the live stream you were feeling much better Ariel and very tempted by the Bonjour Tristesse. And did that Florida Man even finish the book before he damned it, clearly he did not! All his attempt did was make people want to read it more haha! 😜
Raeleen, I have a foodie book recommendation for you - ‘The Umbrian Thursday Night Supper Club’ by Marlena De Blasi. It’s a memoir in which Marlena is a bit of an outsider, invited into a supper club in rural Italy. She learns the life stories of the women in the club as they cook together and begins to earn their trust - it’s a beautiful book!
I was one of the viewers who commented on the previous episode with regards to taking the week off from time to time as needed! I hope both of you enjoy your upcoming vacation this month! 😊
Hey Ariel, have you heard of Wifedom by Anna Funder? It's about George Orwell's wife! It's newly published and it's getting a lot of hype here in Australia because Anna is an Aussie author. Seems like a good one for your Orwell collection!
I really liked reading Bonjour Tristesse but I'm pretty sure I have the censored translation/edition, so I'd like to reread it. and especially because I've seen the movie so many times it has kind of overwritten my memory and info from the novel itself.
My mother read the Joan Didion book, and really liked it, as much as you can with that sad topic. I should read it. It’s good to SEE you ladies again! 😂
The weather in the entire world is horrible here in Mexico we're getting 85° F/ 30°C at 12:00 pm and by 6:00 pm we have thunderstorms and the floodings are so bad that they drag cars down the streets. Climate change is bringing insane consequences.

Slumber party books unbound?? I’m in 🤩
I love this idea!! 😍
This is an excellent idea for an alternative option! I would LOVE such an episode and vibe as a matter of fact! 😊

I was thinking the exact same thing! Such a cute concept
Elisabeth Kübler-Ross wrote about death & grief. Non-fiction. She studied people coping with grief. She interviewed dying people. Highly recommend.
Hope you're feeling better Ariel! ❤

Raeleen, you might like Notes from a Young Black Chef by Kwame Onwuachi. I also love food/cooking/restaurant books and l loved this one!

Hello!!! I've been listening to your podcast since episode 1 😂❤ it's so fun to hear you almost non stop during the day 😂

Haha I read an article about this book and amongst my thoughts were I bet Ariel would be into this
I really liked reading Bonjour Tristesse but I'm pretty sure I have the censored translation/edition, so I'd like to reread it. and especially because I've seen the movie so many times it has kind of overwritten my memory and info from the novel itself.
Some cooking/restraint books I’ve enjoyed are by Roselle Lim! Natalie Tan’s book of luck and fortune and Sophie go’s lonely hearts club were both fun!
My mother read the Joan Didion book, and really liked it, as much as you can with that sad topic. I should read it. It’s good to SEE you ladies again! 😂
Raeleen, if you liked Ruth Reichl’s “Garlic and Sapphires,” I think you’ll enjoy ALL her books.

That Florida man was right. My damaged soul is the result of “spin the bottle.” In fact, I am eternally damned. 🔥🤣
Is it even news if you don't have a florida man headline?
Good point!
