Why does watching this give me anxiety and i'm not even the one on the mats. I don't get anxious when I watch flograppling and high tier grappling but when I watch whitebelts roll I just get nervous for them.

Good perception! First three matches, there was a 15-20 mins buffer between each. The last match for some reason was almost 2 hours after my third match at which point most of my teammates had left. Maybe a combination of that and it being a final had something to do with it. @@Lattes_Little_Family you did very well, esp at a white belt level
There's a lot of variance at that belt level, no stripes vs 3 stripes is a world's of difference
You dominated every other opponent and finally met an opponent at or slightly above your level
It was such a good match bc it wasn't like he was too out of your wheelhouse, just enough to get beat but be competitive !!
      Good technique
The only thing I couldn't believe was that your opponents never attempted "knee to elbow shrimp" in side control, lol that's my bread and butter ... But it's hard to know what a white belt has learned and hasnt leaned

I'm a one stripe whote belt , but have 10 yrs of MMA cage fighting experience

You could just smell the wrestler coming off of the final guy as soon as he dropped into that stance. When you see a no stripe white belt in the finals take that stance it's going to be a long match. That willingness to go across the back instead of immediately going for both hooks and a rear naked gives it away as well.

Thanks! For IBJJF they have masters 1 for age 30-35, masters 2 for 36-40, masters 3 40-44 and so on. But that depends on the availability of each masters bracket as well and you may be given options to choose the bracket you want to participate in. If you go to a big tournament like IBJJF as a white belt, you should have a large pool of competitors

@@Lattes_Little_Family just starting out bjj... do you have to make specific weight like MMA or is it just split in light, middle and heavy division? Or do they only get specific in higher class tournaments?

@@damianwadsworth7603 Yes very similar to MMA. Most tournaments have many weight divisions but I have seen cases, especially at smaller tournaments, where people move up weight classes since there aren't enough people to compete against. Here is the weight classes for IBJJF: Rooster - 57.5 kg (126.5 lbs)
      Light Feather - 64 kg (141 lbs)
      Feather - 70 kg (154 lbs)
      Light - 76 kg (167.5 lbs)
      Middle - 82.3 kg (181 lbs)
      Medium Heavy - 88.3 kg (194.5 lbs)
      Heavy - 94.3 kg (207.5 lbs)
      Super-Heavy - 100.5 kg (221.0 lbs)
Ultra Heavy - No Maximum Weight

I just saw this, I’m going to compete in my first competition at 140. I’m a 3 stripe white belt. Always been confident with sports that have have a ball on my foot, racket etc. Anyways you looked pretty confident here. Any tips? What’s it like as soon as you go up there? Any insight?

Hey! Since this is a similar question from someone before I'll leave my response for it here: I was definitely nervous but once the match starts, everything you've trained just does it's thing. My advice would be to not stress about winning but go out there, try your best and you'll have fun regardless of win or lose. I know guys that go to tournaments and rarely get a win but still love it! Good luck on your tournament!

Looking to get into my first few tournaments as a white belt, I'm wondering what the pieces of my game plan should look like, and if you had one, what it looked like

    • @Lattes_Little_Family
      @Lattes_Little_Family  3 роки тому

Since it's your first one, it might be useful to think about what moves you are good at in different positions. I wouldn't go too deep into making a plan since it's your first one and it might take some time to get comfortable when the match officially starts. Focus on the fundamentals and maybe one or two moves in each position so you are well rounded. Good luck!
