Why does watching this give me anxiety and i'm not even the one on the mats. I don't get anxious when I watch flograppling and high tier grappling but when I watch whitebelts roll I just get nervous for them.
@@danle3181well, they don't really know any techniques that can harm people. it is at a higher leve, you learn techniques that can. so if anything, it is safer then advanced jiu jitsu, but advanced jiu jitsu practictioners know how to avoid harm.

At 18:54 that dude had a beautiful submission setup and he had no idea. Of course when you’re rolling and in the middle of it especially as a white belt, you’re going to miss a lot. I look back at videos of myself and it drives me crazy at what I didn’t see.

I liked the match were nobody got submitted... Totally what GJJ is all about, staying calm and cool defending against your opponent letting them wear themselves out while reserving your own energy not getting submitted... Great win!

Nice matches! Were you tired in the last match? You seemed a little different. I’ve been in tournaments in Taekwondo that went for WAAAAAY too long and by the time you get to the final match, all momentum is out the door. Keep up the training and thank you for inspiring fellow white belts!
Good perception! First three matches, there was a 15-20 mins buffer between each. The last match for some reason was almost 2 hours after my third match at which point most of my teammates had left. Maybe a combination of that and it being a final had something to do with it. Had a great time regardless though

@@Lattes_Little_Family you did very well, esp at a white belt level There's a lot of variance at that belt level, no stripes vs 3 stripes is a world's of difference You dominated every other opponent and finally met an opponent at or slightly above your level It was such a good match bc it wasn't like he was too out of your wheelhouse, just enough to get beat but be competitive !! Good technique The only thing I couldn't believe was that your opponents never attempted "knee to elbow shrimp" in side control, lol that's my bread and butter ... But it's hard to know what a white belt has learned and hasnt leaned I'm attempting my first competition in Jan, I'm a one stripe whote belt , but have 10 yrs of MMA cage fighting experience And your video was a great way to get a good look at the level I may face , so I appreciate it !! You could just smell the wrestler coming off of the final guy as soon as he dropped into that stance. When you see a no stripe white belt in the finals take that stance it's going to be a long match. That willingness to go across the back instead of immediately going for both hooks and a rear naked gives it away as well.
im a white belt and ive been working a lot harder and learning a lot more. My goal i need to work on position before submission and sweeping bigger oponents or just sweeping in general

Thanks! For IBJJF they have masters 1 for age 30-35, masters 2 for 36-40, masters 3 40-44 and so on. But that depends on the availability of each masters bracket as well and you may be given options to choose the bracket you want to participate in. If you go to a big tournament like IBJJF as a white belt, you should have a large pool of competitors

That’s for the awesome comment! It was a baseball choke. I forget the name of the sweep I did in x guard. Practicing it definitely let me get to the next round

I won second place as a blue belt and first place in GI white belt. All my oponentes were promoted to blue belts after competition. Now you ask me how was it???SCARY!!! 😂 I was scared. They all looked at me like they were about to kill me.
That’s great! Still remember when I first started out. Sometimes it’s easy to get discouraged when you get submitted a lot as a newbie but think of it as a good learning opportunity. Once you get good at defending you’ll eventually graduate to getting submissions as well. Stay consistent and enjoy!

@@nickkim41 one was a intermediate and then an advanced class. Focused more on situational drills and on the technicals so wasn’t too intense. Definitely would depend on each gym

I just saw this, I’m going to compete in my first competition at 140. I’m a 3 stripe white belt. Always been confident with sports that have have a ball on my foot, racket etc. Anyways you looked pretty confident here. Any tips? What’s it like as soon as you go up there? Any insight?

Looking to get into my first few tournaments as a white belt, I'm wondering what the pieces of my game plan should look like, and if you had one, what it looked like
Since it's your first one, it might be useful to think about what moves you are good at in different positions. I wouldn't go too deep into making a plan since it's your first one and it might take some time to get comfortable when the match officially starts. Focus on the fundamentals and maybe one or two moves in each position so you are well rounded. Good luck!

Hey when I competed I was 24. Usually for big tournaments, there are different age brackets as well. I’ve trained with people of all ages. Never too late to start. Practical for self defense, workout and so much fun on top of that
