  • A beading material like Fireline is very different from a beading material like a nylon thread. In this video I rundown the different qualities of each one, as well as give suggestions of when to use one over the other.
You can purchase Fireline on my website here: shop.jillwisemandesigns.com/f...
And we carry several different brands of thread here: shop.jillwisemandesigns.com/b...
I am wearing my beloved Sparkle Rope necklace (non-lariat version) in this video: jillwisemandesigns.com/patter...

Very interesting subject, thank you for taking this on! Jill, your teeny weeny cellini kit introduced me to fireline last month (before I had only used Nymo and Silamide) and I appreciate that it is strong and still and less likely to break. I have made 3 bracelets with it and I have taken to coating with thread heaven because I find it has a tendency to work itself into very tiny knots; thread heaven helps somewhat with that. And I have had a piece fray on me, which surprised me. The one cellini bracelet I made with nymo is more supple.

Jill you are costing me so much money! Haha. I just spent so much at your last live sale and then joined the JJB summer camp because you’re teaching at it.

I have used the green line on my bead loom. It really had less affect on the color of the weave.

Jill, first off your hair looks amazing!!! I always love and appreciate hearing about your endless knowledge in the beading world. I started on the other thread spectrum ( wildfire ) for looming before beginning off loom work. Crazy how strange it feels to switch up thread even when it’s for the best. Take care and as always I hope you have a beautiful day.

I learned to bead with Fireline and just recently beaded with thread and it is a big difference. First using the thread, I had a lot of fraying and I figured out how to keep the fraying down and I have to be careful how I pull the thread through the delica for the project, but other than that I got used to using the thread. Thanks for the video.

Thanks Jill. Have tried tassel earrings in the past but will try with thread to get the drape.
    Many thanks for your time.

If the thread is nylon, then is there a difference in the nylon thread vs. nylon thread from the sewing section?

Jewelry is exposed to body heat, sweat, perfume etc. constantly.
Do projects made with fireline last more than, say, a decade? Have you had any problems with breakage due to the aging of the thread?
For bead embroidered clothing that can be washed which thread is more suitable, or should washing be avoided all together?
