GOOD NEWS! Both new models have received a software update already to 'improve general performance'. I've found this has improved the LDAC low max volume issue on the AZ80, so that's great 👍🏼Also, the price seems to be officially listed as $299 (not $349 which Technics originally told me) - so that's important and makes them a much better deal!
@user70331 omg yessss! Lol I habd the first gwn az60 I've had for over a year and barely started to use them at work. They blew away any of the samsung buds abd I mean by a lot. I had the newest Sony buds as well and returned them because I felt $250 wasn't justified for them. Got the az60 for $160 on sale and they were super worth it. I'm thinking about upgrading to the az80 now that they are on sale for $250
@user70331 if the Galaxys are working for you and you don't need mulipoint pairing keep what you like. I've had the Galaxys to go with my Galaxy 22ultra and no complaints. Then I needed to go between personal phone and an iPhone for work I went to Jabra that I love. New job I need to be connected to an iPhone A Galaxy and my laptop so imgoing to try these. For not work I'm loving my Jabra elite 10s.
Just received my AZ60M2s today. I would not have considered them had I not watched this video. The earbuds have amazing sound (Super Bass + for me) and are probably the best earbuds I've ever owned. And a reasonable cost of USD $249 for the quality and options. Thank you for the awesome review Adam. 👍
Ah i'm glad to hear it! It's good to hear from people in the real world since these are so new and some are struggling to even find them online at the moment
I have had my AZ60M2 now for about 3 months, and I am not overly positive about them. My primary reason for buying these was the 3-point Bluetooth connection option. I have a PC, a laptop and my cellphone, and I have long wanted a pair of earbuds that can connect to all 3 at the same time. So when I first heard about the updated AZ models that supported this, I immediately ordered a pair. I chose the AZ60M2 over the AZ40M2 because of the wireless charging. I use them only for video chats and watching online content (mostly youtube videos). I don't use them for listening to music, so sound quality really isn't that important for me. I just need voices to be heard clearly, and in that respect I have to say these are very good. Beside voice quality, battery life and connectivity are the two most important features for me. As for connectivity, it is true you can connect 3 devices at the same time. And it does work. But very often, about half of the times I take them out of their cradle, the buds will connect, but not produce any sound. I need to put them back into the cradle, wait 3 seconds, then take them out and then it will work. Like I said, this happens about 50% of the time. Very annoying. Also, you cannot connect to them while they are still in the cradle. So any adjustments you want to make in the software, you need to do with the buds taken out. In fact, the software won't even see them with the buds inside the cradle. I also have a pair of Soundcore Liberty 4's that can be connected to, only by openening the lid (without taking the buds out). That is much more convenient. One other very odd thing is the QI wireless charging. It only works when you leave the lid open when you put them on the charging pad. If you close the lid and then put them on the pad, they will not charge! This is very weird and took me a long time to figure out. I couldn't find anything about this in the documentation. At first I thought mine were faulty, until I discovered by accident that they do charge with the lid open. Curiously you also see this in this video. In the video above, he puts the case on the pad with the lid open. Guess he also figured out that that is necessasary for it to work. I hope they can solve this in the future, maybe through a software upgrade. Also ergonomics isn't that great, at least not for me. I cannot find any of the tips that seem to suite my ears. I keep having to push them back into my ears every few minutes. I have gotten so used to doing that now, that I almost do it without realizing. But it is still annoying.
First of all, i'm sorry you had those issues - super annoying. I want to assure you though that they definitely wirelessly charge absolutely fine with the case closed! I only did that in the video because I thought the shot looked cooler 😅 It would be so weird if they didn't, and it's definitely something I would have talked about. I just put mine back on a wireless charger, case closed. With that in mind, if yours aren't...would you consider that they may be faulty? It could explain some of the other issues you've faced too. The cradle connection thing is a feature though, not a fault. You're right in that some earbuds let you connect before you take them out - some like this and others don't (some like to just glance at the battery level without it auto connecting, so don't want the cradle connect feature).
@@insidetechltd Thank you for responding! So your buds do charge wirelessly, even if you put them on the pad with the lid closed? Well, that is the behavior I expected, I agree. Unfortunately mine do not. So yes, I agree with you, mine are probably faulty. My bad luck :/ About the cradle connection, yes I know. In fact I had learned about that even before I ordered them. It's just that now that I have both the AZ's, as well as the Soundcore's, I have to say I prefer it the way the Soundcores do this. But I admit, this is a design choice from the manufacturer, and for me it is just a subjective personal opinion. I would not recommend, nor advice against these, just based on this fact. I'd probably mention it, but it is not a deciding factor for getting these. I still prefer the AZ's over the Soundcores based on the battery life. The AZ's last about 3 hours longer than the Soundcores. I'll contact the store where I bought them to see if the charging issue is covered by the warranty and maybe get another pair if possible. Thanks again!
I can only second that the AZ80 are the best there is. I have owned now lots of different models from different brands like Sony, Bose, B&O, Jabra and NuraTrue just like a surfer searching for the perfect wave. The AZ80 are it: The sound is amazing and sets them apart. But not only that, I can wear them for hours and the ease of use and ability to customize is another step. I just love them.
Thank you for this**** I, too, have gone through, jabra (don't bother with the 10, they're a step back from elite 7 pro) Sony xm5 (had these 24hrs, not loud enough and glitchy with app) plus many other brands . I'm all about consistent quality sound. I'll receive the AZ80 tomorrow. Let's see if Panasonic/Technics impresses me . I'll report back. For sound nothing touches my wired monitors. However, they're featureless and nill voice command. Fingers crossed
Just picked up the az80 and they are fantastic Fixes all of the issues with the az60. I also noticed that ambient mode does include a protection mode to briefly turn on noise cancellation when a loud noise occurs. Similar to the buds 2 Pro, bose Qc2 and airpods Pro. Also just my voice is greater improved over the original version
A quick note about the low-volume-over-LDAC issue: I ran into this when I first started using these too and eventually figured out that it was an EQ problem. Basically if you configure a custom EQ on SBC or AAC then switch to LDAC, the volume is super-low until you change your EQ. Even just nudging one slider and then nudging it right back to where it was fixes this permanently. So it's a weird software bug, but it's only a problem once, and the fix is very easy. :)
wow you are actually active in the comment section unlike other youtubers, kudos to you! I have a pair of soundcore liberty 3 pro, should I upgrade to the az80 in your opinion? Is the sound quality alone worth it?
I do try and answer as many as I can - if people are kind enough to leave a comment, I think it's only right to reply! You see this is tough because the L3P have a very consumer-friendly tuning. Deep, powerful bass, slightly scooped mids and then bright treble. It's a very dynamic and energetic sound. Of course technics are too, but I would say slightly flatter and more balanced, more of an audiophile's tuning. I think Technics technically sound better, but lots of people like how the bass sounds on soundcore's L3P and how the dual driver system separates the treble. Overall the AZ80 are better for sure. But on sound quality alone, you should really ask yourself what you think you're missing. What do you not like about the L3P? Also ask yourself if you're an audiophile or not, because if not you may not hear a huge difference
@@insidetechltd To be honest I am contempt with the sound but it is a slight let down when it comes to anc and I have been having some annoying connectivity issues when it comes to multipoint. I am strongly considering between these or maybe wait for the upcoming sony fw xm5's.
@@bb4prelude73 Ended up with the xm5's since I got a good deal. Much better ANC and transparancy, but keep going back to the l3p for sound. I would not hesitate to buy the az80 tho, they are highly rated everywhere I look.
Glad to see BLUETOOTH CONNECTED they've addressed the BLUETOOTH CONNECTED voice prompt issue BLUETOOTH CONNECTED in the AZ60s BLUETOOTH CONNECTED which I own. Amazing buds with awesome sound quality but the deafening voice prompts made them hard to live with day to day. Like switching to transparency mode only to miss what you were trying to hear by switching to transparency mode because your earbuds were yelling at you. Nice review - will probably pick up a set of the new 80s.
Same here. It's weird that the great app allows absolutely every adjustment, just not to turn off these connection notifications (which comes FOUR times. Twice per ear and per connected device). It's just sad that one needs to buy a new piece of hardware. They could easily have added this to the AZ60 via firmware update.
Agreed it would've been nice to see them update the AZ60 with this (and should've in my opinion). I understand it from a business perspective and creating an incentive to spend more on the newer models, but a shame for us consumers
I won a pair of AZ70's through work and they instantly became the best set of buds I had tried to date beating out my Oppo Enco X. The only thing I didn't like was the size of the buggers, they looked like I had Frankenstines neck bolts in your ears😂 These still look massive so will probably stick with my Freebuds Pro 2 but might get some from Amazon so I can try them out first. First time watcher of your channel and now subscribed, great review well put together 👌
I just got my AZ80 today and I got to say I am impressed so far. Being able to connect 3 devices is a game changer for me when working from home. I can connect my android phone, my apple work laptop and home Windows PC and switch seamlessly between them. Sound quality is fantastic as I think they sound better than Sony XM4's, Technics AZ60, B&W PI7 S2 and BEOPLAY EX. Can't comment on the ANC yet as I'm still evaluating that aspect.
I been daily driving the AZ 80s ever since they came out and there amazing can't complain about them definitely the best truly wireless earbuds right now
@@insidetechltd I'll inform you of my test outcomes as soon as they arrive tomorrow. I will compare them to these: Google pixel buds a / Google pixel buds Pro /Jabra Elite 8 Active/ Jabra Elite 10 / Beats fit pro / Sennheiser MTW 3 + 4 / Bose QC 2/ Sony LinkBuds / Soundcore Liberty 4
Superb review! Thank you for doing this. 👍 May I ask for your thoughts on the AZ60m2 vs ATH TWX9 in terms of audio and ergonomics? How about the improved ergonomics between the AZ60m2 and AZ80 for a person that goes to the gym 4 to 5 days a week? The fact that you mentioned the AZ80 stays fit despite laying down on workout benches is a wow factor for me because most earbuds will just go loose in the laying down position, leading to loss of audio quality and noise cancelling.
I think the improvement in ergonomics between AZ80 and the 60M2 or 60 is pretty huge. It's the difference between staying in place when lying down and not - so it's a very important difference. As for the ATH earbuds, lots of people find the stem design stays in place a bit better when lying down - it really depends on each person so it's hard to say. For me the AZ80 are just fine though. I think the Technics sound is more powerful too
Great video 🔥 Can you help me to choose and ranked which one is the best overall , az60 gen 1 , sennies MTW3 , or az80? My concern is SQ,Anc and also comfort . Thank you .
Thank you! Well of course AZ80 is now number 1. But in terms of overall I would then place AZ60 gen 1 and then Sennheiser. Comfort is quite similar for these 3 models actually. And then technic's ANC is slightly better, whilst Sennheiser's sound quality is slightly better
@@gradygrimbald He told az80 is top1. But it also cost twice as the others from your list. if you want overall good performance - take az60 if you want to main sound quality - take sennheiser.
I'd say yes because the EQ options are really good - so you've got a lot of room to tweak the sound to any style really. But the crisp highs and powerful bass should suit electronic anyway
Amazing, super detailed review. I used to buy the best devices available, save the situations it's not reasonable to pay too much. Now, I can easily say that AZ60M2's are indeed my choice, not the 80's, however both are outstanding. It's just had to justify that extra cost. Thank you for your attention to pragmatism, I really appreciate it 🙇
@insidetechltd I am very satisfied with these earbuds for cycling and office work. They fit well, reduce wind noise effectively (automatic), and have excellent sound quality with the DYNAMIC EQ setting. The noise cancellation is decent, but not as good as the Bose QC2. I would rate them 8 out of 10. They also work flawlessly with MS teams calls when I turn off JustMyVoice. The multi-point (Also when LDAC Hi res is enabled) feature is handy for switching between my Windows 11 laptop and my Google Pixel 7.The only modification I made was to the eartips. I switched to the SpinFit Omni for a better and more comfortable fit. These are the best earbuds I have tried so far, so I am gonna keep these . Thanks again for the review
Hey. I need a new pair of buds for the gym/general wear. Would you pick the az80's, Jabre10 or the Sony xm5? I probably want sound and secure fit in my ear as a priority. Thanks in advance from a bloke with average size ears. Stevo
It's hard to say for sure because everyone's ears are different. I would say to discount the Sony XM5 - the fit is relatively loose. The other two are quite similar but i'd probably go for the AZ80 mainly for the better sound quality
I am commenting from Japan. Does that mean there is no clear difference in sound quality between AZ80 and AZ60m2? I was originally using AZ60, so I'm trying to replace it, but I'm not sure which one to choose. I'm wondering if there is a difference of 10,000 yen in Japanese yen.
I don't think there's a clear difference, no. I had to listen across multiple days and different scenarios/songs etc to hear the difference. In a blind test I think people would struggle
I received AZ60m2 blue really surprised but the case feels cheap and fit not the best so I sent back to get the AZ80 issues solved . Thanks for your review
So if you consider Bose as being a cut above the rest, the only S tier rank (and you should separate Bose from all others). You've then got another Elite group below that, the A-rank, where around 10 or so earbuds belong, things like AirPods Pro 2, Jabra's Elite 85t, Pixel Buds Pro...Well i'd say the AZ80 are just into that Elite group too, maybe at the lower end, but still into that Elite group. Of course a lot of it is down to how well they fit your ears, and passive isolation comes into play in real world use and actually blocking out noise. But hopefully that gives you a little bit of context!
@@mokisan FYI. I've seen reviews and articles that state Status' Between 3 ANC is very close to Bose noise canceling. I'm trying to decide between the original AZ 60s and those.
When you mentioned the Low Max Volume with LDAC.....does that mean that the sound is "pressed against a ceiling" and get a bit distorted like they do on the Sony XM4s?
I got my AZ80 and wow. I have actually never heard if technics in the earbud/headphone space . Ive heard of them for their turntables tho . I am quite amazed gow great these sound and how good the anc is .
I have been doing a ton of research into the earbuds I want to order, and I am having quite the time. I have watched so many of your videos (multiple times, even). I am considering grabbing the AZ80 or the AZ60M2... unless there is something better out there for me. Any chance you can recommend whether you think I should get one of these models or something completely different? I am looking for great call quality, especially while I drive (my car BT is a bit old and people have issues hearing me). I have IEMs for music listening when I can use them, but they are not always the most convenient to use, as they are wired. But I do like having superior sound quality when it comes to music... otherwise, why have expensive buds? I was also looking at the Anker Liberty 4 and 4 NC, but I would really like to be able to find my earbuds with my iPhone. I also value high quality hardware builds... It just sucks because I do not have anywhere I can go to check any earbuds out... I basically have to order online. I would be willing to order a few to test against each other. Might\ you have recommendations for me?
I still think these are the best all round earbuds you can get right now. I can't say whether the 80 or 60M2 will fit your ears better (for me the 80 fit much better) but that's the most important difference between them. You can still locate them using an iPhone and the build quality is great. Perhaps try to buy from somewhere online that accepts returns just in case you don't like them
@@insidetechltd you’re absolutely the best!!! I ordered the AZ60M2, and will see how they fit and sound… and I will order the AZ80 to compare 💚. You’re the best.
Hello! In terms of sound...no. I still think the Beoplay EX are the best sounding. These are a top 10 for sound quality and actually some people who aren't audiophiles may prefer the Technics type of tuning (compared to B&O's more natural sound). So overall: Technics win. Sound quality? B&O win
I'm waiting for Jabra to announce an elite 8 model if there ever is... (I'm still on the Jabra 75t active and it's still very decent, but I think it's time to upgrade eventually)
If they don't address the issues with the 85ts and connectivity, I'd avoid it. Right now they're pretending there's no issues at all, so you're 50/50 on a silent fix or no fix at all and that doesn't bode well.
New question: the manual says user shall recharge the earphones from a computer's USB port. I don't have a computer right now, neither a laptop... Can I use Anker 65W USB-C charging brick without damaging my Technics AZ80? 🧐
You can use your anker charger. There are intelligent power output/thermal management processors inside to charge only with the power required for the earbuds. If you want to maximise the battery life as much as you possibly can, you can try and find a slow charger (like a laptop, or a 5 W wall charger if you have one lying around). I wouldn't personally bother though, the anker one should be fine
AZ60 is my favourite that I currently own. Will definately pick these up during sale. Great review as always covering everything.❤ If you only use 2 way multi-point can you use ldac than?
@@insidetechltd Hi I was just looking these up on the official website, I think you have the price wrong for the az80. It seems to be 299 instead of 349 USD, which is nice. A 50$ margin seems to be a lot more reasonable between the 2.
Yes I can see that too, although no actual options to buy - so maybe it's subject to change. The prices i've shown were from a Technics representative - but fingers crossed the lower price is the real one 🤞🏼
Hi, @otoshi1010 could you tell me how big the earbuds are and how comfortable the fit is because I currently own a Sony mx4's and they're unbearably big and constantly fall out my small ears and need readjusting when just sitting still and listening and I want to know if the same will be happening if I get these 🙂
@@Captainsunless These definitely are more comfortable than xm4s. Though I’ve never experienced any discomfort with xm4s(after I switched out the foam tips). These are definitely better in that regard as well as sound quality for me. That being said I’ve never used any one of them for more than 4-5 hrs at a time, but I can never forget that the xm4s are not in my ears while I slept on the plane with the technics. Can’t really do the same with xm4s for me.
Would you say the AZ60M2 would be good for running or will fit be a problem? If so, would the extra ergonomics on the 80 make that more usable? Been using the M&D MW07 Go for years, but they bricked today. Would like to replace them with one of these for better sound and customizing if I can get one to work.
I personally think the AZ80's improved ergonomics makes a huge difference. If I were planning on using them for running, i'd definitely spend more to get that better fit. The AZ60M2 are fine, but they don't stay as securely and i'd need to keep adjusting them mid-run. That's just my ears though - everyone has different shaped ears so it's hard to say for sure
Hi there, i just snagged a pair of the AZ60M2 on sale, and was having FOMO on the AZ80s. The price difference is about $120 USD from sale price of AZ60M2 and the AZ80s, do you think its worth the upgrade?
It depends. Put aside your FOMO for one second and look solely at the 60M2. Forget there are any other earbuds at all. Now what is it you don't like about them? What do you want them to be better at? You should ask yourself that question without thinking about other earbud options, because 9 times out of 10 the answer is simply: nothing. There will always be new, better earbuds being released - that will never stop! So FOMO never goes away. If you got the AZ80...something else would come along that beats them too that you'd want. So my advice is to focus on what you actually have and, unless you specifically want something to be better about it, you probably don't need to upgrade 👍🏼
How is the AZ80 for sports. I am looking to upgrade my new day to day pair but also want skiing with decent earbuds whilst the season lasts. So they need to be a good fit
I have found a lot of sports buds sacrifice quality of sound over their fit. Ive seen your 2023 video for all earbuds. And I am not convinced about sports earbuds specifically. Are you currently reviewing something that can fit my needs or do you have any suggestions? My budget is around 200-250 euros ish depending on how well they fix my problem Thank you in advance!
The problem is that everyone's ears are different, so a pair that fits one really well may be terrible for another person. All I can say is that for me the fit has been great - crucially i'm able to lie down on a workout bench and they don't move (they're also fine for running). I'm not sure i'd recommend them for skiing though. They stick out a little and you're gonna need something that fits underneath helmet, right? That will limit your options a lot. If your ears are exposed though, you've got more choice - but you'll want something with a guaranteed stability because losing an earbud out on the slopes is not the one. The earbuds that lock in tight typically aren't as comfortable, but that's the trade off. Maybe Jaybird's Vista 2 would be a good shout for those securing wing tips. Or perhaps even Beat's Fit Pro. You're right, most sports buds sacrifice sound for the fit - but your alternative is just getting lucky with a pair of regular earbuds that happen to fit your ears really well. Unfortunately I can't tell you for certain what pair that is for your particular ears, but the AZ80 might be a good place to start!
@@insidetechltd thanks a lot for the reply! Currently eying the sennheiser momentum 3 They seem small enough, have fins for stability(though maybe not the largest) and they appearantly sound great. You recon thats a good idea? Ofc I need to start somewhere, but I cant go buying loads of earbuds often. Definetly going to check out your suggestions. Though if the sennheiser are a good fit. Id love to go for those Edit: May sound weird but I tried my helmet and it seems like I have extra room where the earbuds go. I tried simulating the rough size of an earbud and it seems fine
I appreciate all the effort you have put in on the reviews! I am deaf in one ear and thus would only use the left earbud. I believe most buds handle single bud use well, mixing both left and right mono channels into one bud. Based on all your testing, does one brand/model stick out for you for single bud use?
Thank you! I feel like i'm not best placed to give you a great answer here, it's not something ever tested in any great detail before. I think as long as you hit that main checkmark of single earbud use either side, you should just be able to go for an earbud design you like. Perhaps check for something that lets you set the controls for each side individually - often they are set it in pairs (left and right controls are locked together) or the control scheme changes when you're using only one earbud. These Technics earbuds allow you to do that, for instance, so would likely be a good choice. You can set specific controls for each side and it doesn't change when you're just using one earbud. If it helps, once you've found a pair you like I can try to answer those types of questions for you. I'm sorry I can't be of more help though!
Thanks a lot! I posted a short review on the AZ40M2 but probably won't get a chance to make a full review now, sadly. Can I answer any specific questions for you though?
@@insidetechltd Am looking for something for my wife who's had problems with the original Galaxy Buds. Specifically, they're not too secure while she's doing workouts and the manual switching from laptop to phone has been a pain in the butt. Sizing / comfort with these things is so subjective, I guess the main question is the sound decent enough with the AZ40M2's or is it better to spend the extra to get the AZ60M2's? There's that line with cheap being too rubbish to bother with, if you know what I mean. She's not an audiophile but will be listening to music and audio books too.
I would actually suggest you avoid the AZ40M2 if you want to use them for workouts as well - the 60 I think would be more secure. You'd obviously get better sound quality too. You don't really need a 3-device multipoint earbud though, any regular multipoint earbud would fix the issue of needing to swap between laptop and phone easily. If you like the technics earbuds though, they really are fantastic all-rounders - I just sadly can't tell you if they'd fit well and securely or not since it's all down to ear shape and size!
I've just put a link to buy on Amazon UK near the top of the video description, but go quick if you want them! I think they are catching up with orders because they are selling fast!
the one thing i cant stand is that they dont connect to my 24 ultra once i open the lid and afterwards they take too long to connect. i get a call, i take them out of the case and the phone rings an extra 3 times before i am able to press the answer control...do you have a solution to that?
Unfortunately there is no solution to this - some earbuds just take a bit longer to connect than others. It can vary by the device being connected to as well. My only 'solution' if I was expecting calls and wanted to answer them quickly and through the earbuds would be to already be wearing the earbuds
On Amazon the silver coloured version says the Impedance is 32, but the black one has Impedance=80. Does this really true or just some incorrect information listing?
The battery drain issue with my XM4 (Left side only) made me never want to buy Sony again. Even though I think they have excllent sound, especially XM3.
I'm not sure I give credence for any of the improvements for the price gap compared to the regular AZ60 from two years ago. I think i'll take my chances with the "older" tech.
No it ultimately depends on how much you value that handful of new additions. For some that's exactly what they've been looking for and for others it really doesn't change anything
In short: for sound quality, perhaps look to either of those instead. For everything else: AZ80. But the AZ80 are literally only slightly behind those two for sound. People have mixed experiences with NuraTrue Pro. I totally get why they're so highly rated, they have perhaps the most open and spacious sound of any earbuds i've tested. But I don't like their personalised EQ gimmick. I did 3 tests on it and all 3 equalisers were completely different (I gave them to someone else who had the same experience) - so to me it's just totally making it up. It's not a reliable listening experience. That said they CAN sound really good (and would place a bit higher than AZ80). The overall performance is ok, but not on par with the AZ80. The PI7 S2 were slightly bass-heavy, and with no custom EQ still that's a real shame. But that's not enough to spoil the otherwise fantastic sound. I current place those just below the NuraTrue Pro (but you could interchange them depending on how well Nura's weird EQ system works for you). The PI7 S2 don't perform well enough in the other categories to justify the price
@@insidetechltd Thank you very much for reaching back so quickly! And I couldn’t agree more with your statement. The pi7s are out the door for me, which leaves me with with a few options. The status between 3ANC looks like a great option as well, and another channel said I should go with nuratrue pro once it’s restocked.(god knows how long that’ll take).
Im considering between airpods pro 2 and az60m2. Any recommendations in terms of sound quality, mic quality, and ANC? I have only iPhone thats in apple ecosystem, and i use spotify for music.
For sound quality, AZ60M2 are much better than AirPods. But AirPods have a better mic and ANC. If you're not an audiophile, AirPods still sounds really good - but if you don't want any of the Apple-exclusive features then they are quite expensive for what you get
@@insidetechltdthat's weird man cause I have done the test like 7 times ,, only one time the personalisation was wrong only in left ear ,, otherwise was way consistent... Compare to az80 which one is the better sound quality wise ?!

Can they adjust the sound to your hearing loss like for instance Samsung and Oppo Enco X2? Without adjustment do they sound as good as say the Oppo Enco X2 with dynamic + planar driver, or the Samsung Buds 2 Pro or OnePlus Buds 2 Pro with their two way drivers or the Edifiers with dynamic + balanced armature driver if that was what it had, also the NuraTrue Buds 2 Pro or whatever they are called and of course the AirPods Pro which in general have seemed like the best overall possibly with NuraTrue and B&W P7 S2 being the exceptions. Also what about support for spatial audio? Personally wouldn't mind having LHDC here too and LHDC or LDAC on the Samsung Buds 2 Pro because while those supposedly eventually will get LE and LC3 support for hires they are limited to Samsung only devices, same with the 360 audio and recording. LE was only for high tier Snapdragons and onwards? So missing on older phones like my Xiaomi 11T I suppose, but that one do support LDAC and LDHC so it would had been nice to have those formats. (Don't know if it's worth adding / to care about AptX any longer but one could also wonder whatever older models may get support for that too or not. Less likely? I assume the firmware can become too large for storage if they try to add it all.)
It really depends on what you’re looking for from the earbuds. Jabra would be great for phone calls and sennheiser for sound quality. But both are weaker overall vs technics
@@Patrickmathieu0482 so what? Overall the video clearly states that the sound quality is very close! chasing latest specs numbers isn't a wise thing to do, whether for buds or mobiles or anything else
@@Patrickmathieu0482 it depends on what you expect, if you want power from a song "beat" you need a bigger driver, but if you like warm type song, like an acoustic song you need a smaller driver, trust me if you listening lulaby song in 6mm driver its much better than going with 10mm. but smaller drivers will find it difficult to vibrate your ears at higher volumes. if you like basshead clearly you will satisfied with bigger drivers
@@insidetechltd How you would compare long wearing comfort to include ability to stay in ear when commuting. How does, sound quality compare with emphasis on bass range and depth. And how is call quality, as I use headphones for calls. In particular, microphone quality and background noise suppression because I seem to get calls when not in quiet environments.
Barely anything in it for calls. 3ANC sit 1 place ahead of AZ80 at the moment and perhaps have slightly better isolation (but my voice was also quieter overall). AZ80 stay in the ears better and are better for commuting in my opinion. Sound quality depends on your preference. 3ANC has more of an audiophile tuning with a flatter sound. AZ80 is more consumer-friendly and dynamic. I think you can hear more bass frequencies with the 3ANC, but both can be equalised to increase the low end anyway. I'm going to go into more detail on sound (and everything else) in an upcoming review
@@insidetechltd thanks for that input. I am subscribing just because you not only did a very thorough review of a fresh new tech product, which, for me, makes your opinion authentic and less biased based on popularity, but because you take the time to interact with your audience. Another question. What size would you say your ears are? I asked to get a better understanding of your comment that the AZ 80s are more comfortable. Also, you state that the 3ANC are one step above, but your comments made it sound like you preferred the AC80s, which are also $50 more. Did I misunderstand that? Would you say the AZ80s are worth the increase over the 3ANC?
Thanks a lot! Sorry for the late reply, I've just had LASIK and been out of action for a couple of days (trying to catch up now). My ears are medium to large i'd say. I think my overall ear shape is medium, but I tend to go for the large eartips to get a tight seal in my ear canal. So small earbuds fit me well too, as long as I equip the bigger eartips on the end. Sorry when I said the 3ANC are 1 step above, i'm referring only to the phone call quality. My overall impression is that the AZ80 are a better pair of earbuds. The overall quality makes the AZ80 a better buy (even if there is $50 in it)
i'll get the m2 because they're smaller, but i would really be in a hurry if they had a matte black version. i don't know one person who prefers shiny earbuds. not one.
Cool 😎, simultaneous connection to 3 devices, I hope others will soon integrate this, because frankly my symbolic bar for earbuds, it's $150 max 🙃 Ps: the design of the Z80 case and especially the earbuds reminds me strangely of the Jabra Elite 85t.
I have the jabra elite active 75t. Im ready to upgrade because voice calling is most important to me. The jabra pro 7 are on sale today on Amazon for $120. But i really like these 60m2. Im also in the gym and will use these buds in a noisy environment. Thoughts?
My thoughts are that the 60M2 aren’t as good with calls, so if that’s a priority then I’d be wary. The 7 Pro are also no big upgrade over the 75t, it’s a very similar experience so that’s not a great upgrade imo. The AZ80 are pretty good for calls, not quite as good as the Elite 7 Pro but much better with noise cancelling (so good for a noisy environment). I think ultimately there is no perfect earbud and all will struggle in loud environments for calls - so if you find a pair of earbuds you like, just go for it!
Which ones have more sub bass: AZ80 or AZ60M2? I am looking for an alternative to Beats PowerPro which have a great sound but a hassle to put on and take off and that is a problem because they block ambient sound and I have to take them off in order to speak to someone and then put them back on when I am done. There is no button to allow ambient sound in temporarily. The Technics buds may be what I am looking for. Please help. Thanks.
Honestly they are so close with the sub bass it’s almost impossible to tell. So I would essentially ignore that factor and look at other differences to choose between them 👍🏼
Bought the AZ60M2, main issue for me is the lack of privacy, everybody near me can hear what I'm listening to if I have the volume high. Not to mention a plane flight makes me uncomfortable... Tried every gel that fit and isolate (and they do really well) but it doesn't change a thing. Is there "leaks" of the internal sound on the AZ80s?
Because the AZ80 has a slightly different fit in the ear you may find the comfort is better and the sound leakage is lower. It really depends on the fit in your ears though - for me the AZ60 actually sit deeper so the sound leakage is less. Hard to say how you'll get on without trying it for yourself
@@insidetechltd nah, I don't think it's related to the gels on their own, as I have a real good (passive) isolation and it fits like a glove. Didn't try the AZ80s yet, so maybe they worth a try... I want the same fit and sound quality from my Jabra Elite 75t's but without the connectivity issues (only right bud and interferences with some transformers like LED panels or PC PSUs)
Comfort definitely goes to LinkBuds for being smaller and lighter. Convenience is a mixed bag: I really like Sony's smart features (speak to chat, adaptive sound control, quick attention). But you could also consider Technics' 3-device multipoint and wireless charging as convenient too - it depends on how you'll use the earbuds
You really failed to give the comfort difference in between these two. The AZ80 ergonomic design is far better than the 60 or 60m2 as they are basically the same. And it is a game changer what you choose.
You think so? I thought that "the 80s offer some nice ergonomic improvements. There's this extra ridge that sits in the conch of your ear to maximise stability and comfort...it certainly gives the best fit, at least in my ears, by far" explains it quite clearly. Comfort is also subjective - but I apologise if this still didn't make the difference clear to you
I wonder why these didn't get AptX lossless. I would think that newer top tier buds would get that codec. A little concerning that these dont get very loud with LDAC.
I can only assume it's because the qualcomm chips that provide aptX don't align with what Technics are going for with other features (like call quality). These chips come as a package and it's often the case that the earbuds with LDAC don't have any form of aptX (and vice versa) - so I assume it's something to either do with that, or simply deemed unnecessary given that LDAC is already there
They work great with LDAC! I had the low volume issue at first too and eventually figured out that it was an EQ problem. :)
Agreed, definitely a wild claim. And one I therefore wouldn't make without thorough testing first. But I had an inkling they might be (given that they basically fix what was wrong with the already great AZ60) and the test results proved this too! Fair play to Technics, they come out on top right now
@@insidetechltd I am still considering purchasing the original AZ60, especially since the new features are not necessary to me. What do you mean by "problems"?
My jabras 75t finally gave up, and now I'm in a pickle. Really don't know which earbuds to buy. 75t's were so comfortable and had just the right amount of the bass for my taste. So I'm looking for some earbuds with comparable bass, and also I accepted the fact that I probably won't find anything that fits that perfectly like jabras did. On my list right now are sennheiser tw m3, xm4, technics az60m2. Also, it would be nice if earbuds have aptx or ldac codecs. Any suggestions?😢
Would you not be interested in Jabra's Elite 7 Pro (or the others)? I only say that because the fit is very close to the 75t and the sound quality is too. I think Galaxy Buds are also fairly similar in shape and size, though there's a little more bass with those. As for the ones you listed, I think the XM4 are going to be very different (very big in comparison). Sennheiser's Momentum TW3 would be the closest to the 75t in terms of both comfort and also bass actually. Sennheiser doesn't often over-do the bass
Pure sound quality: BeoPlay Ex (unless you like heavy bass which the technics earbuds can produce with an EQ change). For luxury of the build quality/case, also BeoPlay EX. For basically everything else (including value for money) the technics earbuds
I had this issue and eventually figured out that it was an EQ problem. :)
@@510maddog I’m just saying that making any change to EQ settings is enough to fix whatever’s stuck. You don’t need to leave any changes in place. Just switch EQ settings (or turn it on if it’s off) and then switch back to however it was before.
One of the annoying features of the AH-800 and AZ60 was the inability to turn off the voice when using auto shut down. When I want to wear my buds to fall asleep I certainly don't want the a voice notifying me that the device has been disconnected. It would wake me up. Does the AZ80 allow to turn off the voice with auto shut down? I love to fall asleep with the
I bought my Az 60 on a special offer for 82 Euro and they are great with my Huawei phone. Not as good sound with my iPhone because no ldac there. Its important to have a Ldac compatable phone for the best sound result.
@@insidetechltd better NC, smaller form factor, better call quality, 7-band EQ (5 band is not enough) , better water resistant rating, it could be better, it's $300,
Obviously everybody would like those things. But maybe this is already the best you can get for $300, you know? Is there anything better out there right now with those things?
I wouldn't buy anything Panasonic or Technics right off the bat. I'd wait a year and after they drop $100 in price and have had all the firmware updates they should be a better buy. As of late Technics and Sony have spotty quality control with poor customer service.
I had the AZ70 and I decided not to go for the later models and I think I am right. No improvement on battery no new design, still chunky. Nothing special for a lot of money.
Is the battery not enough for you? Are you often listening for more than 7 hours straight without a break? The design is different with the AZ80, but it's of course totally fair if you don't want to upgrade from the AZ70 - they're also really good!
I'll wait for black friday😊. Is it worth to switch from galaxy buds 2 pro? They already seem perfect for me.
I assume they saw the market or had info about the Sony WF-1000xm5 so maybe lowered the MSRP to $299.
My bad luck :/
About the cradle connection, yes I know.
That's alright, fingers crossed they get it sorted for you! 🤞🏼
Hard sell at $350 USD. The original AZ-60’s are still a great buy especially at 1/3 the price of the AZ-80’s.
Just out of curiosity: How well do they perform (ANC) when it's windy outside?
@@Squaedy - while I had issues with models from other brands - I barely notice the windy conditions. I am happy with them
Thank you for this**** I, too, have gone through, jabra (don't bother with the 10, they're a step back from elite 7 pro) Sony xm5 (had these 24hrs, not loud enough and glitchy with app) plus many other brands . I'm all about consistent quality sound.
I'll receive the AZ80 tomorrow. Let's see if Panasonic/Technics impresses me . I'll report back.
For sound nothing touches my wired monitors. However, they're featureless and nill voice command. Fingers crossed
Just picked up the az80 and they are fantastic
Fixes all of the issues with the az60. I also noticed that ambient mode does include a protection mode to briefly turn on noise cancellation when a loud noise occurs. Similar to the buds 2 Pro, bose Qc2 and airpods Pro. Also just my voice is greater improved over the original version
Nice, glad you like them!
Are they good on phone calls too? I’ve had AirPods Pro & they’re terrible for phone calls no one can hear me properly 😮💨
@@Chloe__________xx I find call quality is excellent as well as people on the other end! I have the AZ 80's:)
are they better quality actual sound tho?
How your Az80s hold up as of now?? Also one more question is the max volume loud enough or you find them a bit quiet?
A quick note about the low-volume-over-LDAC issue: I ran into this when I first started using these too and eventually figured out that it was an EQ problem. Basically if you configure a custom EQ on SBC or AAC then switch to LDAC, the volume is super-low until you change your EQ. Even just nudging one slider and then nudging it right back to where it was fixes this permanently. So it's a weird software bug, but it's only a problem once, and the fix is very easy. :)
Great comment 👏🏼 Hopefully this'll help a few people out!
wow you are actually active in the comment section unlike other youtubers, kudos to you!

The only thing I didn't like was the size of the buggers, they looked like I had Frankenstines neck bolts in your ears😂
These still look massive so will probably stick with my Freebuds Pro 2 but might get some from Amazon so I can try them out first.

May I ask for your thoughts on the AZ60m2 vs ATH TWX9 in terms of audio and ergonomics?
I think the Technics sound is more powerful too
Great video 🔥

Thank you! Well of course AZ80 is now number 1. But in terms of overall I would then place AZ60 gen 1 and then Sennheiser. Comfort is quite similar for these 3 models actually. And then technic's ANC is slightly better, whilst Sennheiser's sound quality is slightly better

Glad the fit worked out in the end! I really don’t understand why they didn’t give the M2 the 80’s new shape design as well 🤦♂️
Thanks for the breat video as usual mate. How does the anc compare to the top of the line bose earbuds in terms of anc?

Hello, they did better than B&O eq or ex in terms of sound, the rest is not important to me, greetings, great video👍👌🇦🇹
Hello! In terms of sound...no. I still think the Beoplay EX are the best sounding. These are a top 10 for sound quality and actually some people who aren't audiophiles may prefer the Technics type of tuning (compared to B&O's more natural sound).
So overall: Technics win. Sound quality? B&O win
@@insidetechltd thank you i think b&o eq for under 140eu at amazon its very good bay👌🇦🇹
Yeah I noticed the EQ model are really discounted on Amazon UK too! A very good buy indeed 👌🏼

I'm waiting for Jabra to announce an elite 8 model if there ever is... (I'm still on the Jabra 75t active and it's still very decent, but I think it's time to upgrade eventually)
I wouldn't be surprised if they do. They seem to love putting out as many models as they can 😅
If they don't address the issues with the 85ts and connectivity, I'd avoid it.
Great review as always covering everything.❤
If you only use 2 way multi-point can you use ldac than?
Thank you! Yes you can use LDAC and two-way multipoint for sure 👌🏼

Hi
I was just looking these up on the official website, I think you have the price wrong for the az80.
Hi, @otoshi1010 could you tell me how big the earbuds are and how comfortable the fit is because I currently own a Sony mx4's and they're unbearably big and constantly fall out my small ears and need readjusting when just sitting still and listening and I want to know if the same will be happening if I get these 🙂
@@Captainsunless
These definitely are more comfortable than xm4s.
In regards to volume, sound quality and noise canceling. Which one is better Az60 m2 or jabra elite 10.
Volume and sound quality: AZ60M2. ANC: Elite 10
Hola buenas noches.... según tu criterio el sonido del Az60m2 está muy lejos del reciente sony 1000mx5? Gracias
Hola! Not very far, no. I give the win to Sony for sound quality but it is still fairly close - the AZ60M2 also sound great
how good is this compared to jabra elite 10 ?
Also Does it have Spatial or Dolby Sound
These are still best overall, but Jabra close behind! (full review on the channel for those). These don't offer Spatial or Dolby sound
Are you going to be doing a review on the new Sony xf m5's soon? Interested to know which you prefer
Yes, it's underway!
Nice one
I will see what will happen at primeday.... maybe I will invest more money for this nice inear...... Thanks for the infos here 😊
Hi there, i just snagged a pair of the AZ60M2 on sale, and was having FOMO on the AZ80s.
My budget is around 200-250 euros ish depending on how well they fix my problem
Thank you in advance!
Currently eying the sennheiser momentum 3
They seem small enough, have fins for stability(though maybe not the largest) and they appearantly sound great. You recon thats a good idea?
Ofc I need to start somewhere, but I cant go buying loads of earbuds often. Definetly going to check out your suggestions. Though if the sennheiser are a good fit. Id love to go for those
Edit:
May sound weird but I tried my helmet and it seems like I have extra room where the earbuds go. I tried simulating the rough size of an earbud and it seems fine
Yes, I think momentum 3 would be a very good shout. Give them a go and see what you think 👍🏼
@@insidetechltd you have been great! Txs a lot. A well earned subscription and likes from me :)
Hey, if you're using an Android device, usually in accessibility settings or sound settings you can enable mono audio
@@nAcolz Thank you for your input, that should address my need!
You know if the charging case of the AZ60 is compatible with AZ80?
It isn’t. The earbuds are different shapes and sizes
Fantastic video, thanks! Would be great to see a comparison to the cheaper Technics AZ40M2.
@@insidetechltd Thank you!
Great vid! But damn where can I buy these in the UK? There isn’t 1 UK retailer that sells them, not even the official Technics or Panasonic sites!
There's no difference in the colours 👍🏼

Are the AZ80 louder than the AZ60M2? I have the M2. I will be returning them because they are not loud, even when I maxed out the volume.
Not really. If you don't think the M2 are loud enough, then unless they were faulty, I don't think you'll be happy with the AZ80 volume either
Are the Jabra elite 10 louder than the Technics az80?
How are these compared to the Sony XM5. I’m having battery drain issues with my XM4s thinking bout replacing them.
Sony offer slightly better sound quality and better mic quality too. Technics offer a better fit, stronger ANC and better customisation
Was the LDAC AZ80 volume limit issue solved since then? Thanks!
Yes
How does this compare to the bower and Wilkins pi7 s2 or the nuratrue pro? I’m split between all 3
In short: for sound quality, perhaps look to either of those instead.
@@insidetechltd
Thank you very much for reaching back so quickly!

If you're not an audiophile, AirPods still sounds really good - but if you don't want any of the Apple-exclusive features then they are quite expensive for what you get
@@insidetechltd Thanks!

No, those are the market leaders for ANC and are better
Great analysis and beautifully presented..will you please check Denon perl pro .. you'd change your mind about 4R
I tested them as the NuraTrue Pro - they're good, fantastic sound. But the sound personalisation is inconsistent and ultimately a big gimmick
These? Jabra elite pro 7? Or sennheiser momentum 3?
It really depends on what you’re looking for from the earbuds. Jabra would be great for phone calls and sennheiser for sound quality. But both are weaker overall vs technics
Are these better than the Status Between 3ANCs?
Yes, they're the best earbuds on the market right now
Question: is the anc enabled during calls with these or you just have that stupid sidetone like the linkbuds s?
You can choose whichever mode you like with these (and change them during a call) 👍🏼

How it compares to Liberty 3 pro?
Better in pretty much every aspect - I can only think of the L3P appearance being cooler but that's it. Not as cheap though!
I'd like to know how these compare to Status' Between 3ANC. Have you tested those as of yet to compare?
Yes. Full testing already completed on those. I’ve replied on the other thread about ANC. What other features would you like to know about?
The overall quality makes the AZ80 a better buy (even if there is $50 in it)
i'll get the m2 because they're smaller, but i would really be in a hurry if they had a matte black version. i don't know one person who prefers shiny earbuds. not one.
How many have you asked?

Cool 😎, simultaneous connection to 3 devices, I hope others will soon integrate this, because frankly my symbolic bar for earbuds, it's $150 max 🙃

Soundwise the 80s wipe the floor with new sony. Unfortunately call quality in noisy places is better on sony.. Tough choice
Unfortunately for me the fit made the decision for me - the AZ80 fit much more securely and I struggle with Sony's new design
Compared to the Sennheiser true moments 3 which one have the best sound?
I'd give a slight edge to Sennheiser for sound quality

I think Libratone were the first to introduce connectivity for 3 devices at the same time.
It's not multipoint. You have to switch between each device you want to use, whereas these Technics earbuds are connected to all 3 simultaneously
How about AZ60M2 convenience and comfort vs linkbuds s?
Comfort definitely goes to LinkBuds for being smaller and lighter. Convenience is a mixed bag: I really like Sony's smart features (speak to chat, adaptive sound control, quick attention). But you could also consider Technics' 3-device multipoint and wireless charging as convenient too - it depends on how you'll use the earbuds
Hmmmm, i prefer inear under 100bucks, yesterday I buy airpods alternative for 40 bucks with 5.3 bt and ldac, sound great .... My girli is happy
Love this
Wild claim but I wouldn’t put it past them based off the original AZ60
These vs beoplay ex?
Pure sound quality: BeoPlay Ex (unless you like heavy bass which the technics earbuds can produce with an EQ change). For luxury of the build quality/case, also BeoPlay EX.
For basically everything else (including value for money) the technics earbuds
ldac low volume bug is it solved?
No software updates available so far for me 😔
I had this issue and eventually figured out that it was an EQ problem. Basically if you configure a custom EQ on SBC or AAC then switch to LDAC, the volume is super-low until you change your EQ. @@StevenLamphear You're saying you have to set an EQ on the lower quality codecs just to get loud volume on LDAC?
@@510maddog I’m just saying that making any change to EQ settings is enough to fix whatever’s stuck. You don’t need to leave any changes in place. Just switch EQ settings (or turn it on if it’s off) and then switch back to however it was before.
One of the annoying features of the AH-800 and AZ60 was the inability to turn off the voice when using auto shut down.
When I want to wear my buds to fall asleep I certainly don't want the a voice notifying me that the device has been disconnected. It would wake me up.
Does the AZ80 allow to turn off the voice with auto shut down?
I love to fall asleep with the
You can turn them off or to tones instead of voice prompts now 👍🏼
Thanks for the update, I may be a year late but hopefully it's the thought that counts 😊@@insidetechltd
I bought my Az 60 on a special offer for 82 Euro and they are great with my Huawei phone. Not as good sound with my iPhone because no ldac there. Its important to have a Ldac compatable phone for the best sound result.
i will wait for the AZ-80 mk2. :-)
Just out of interest...why? What features are you looking to be added?
@@insidetechltd better NC, smaller form factor, better call quality, 7-band EQ (5 band is not enough) , better water resistant rating, it could be better, it's $300,
Obviously everybody would like those things. But maybe this is already the best you can get for $300, you know? Is there anything better out there right now with those things?
@@insidetechltd I think the Sennheiser has better water resistance. Possibly better sound tweaking. But they are also huge
No, same water resistance. I'll be reviewing the new Momentum 4 earbuds soon though, so i'll see if they beat the AZ80
got silver 80s for a great deal of 189 euroes, cant wait
Nice!
I wouldn't buy anything Panasonic or Technics right off the bat. I'd wait a year and after they drop $100 in price and have had all the firmware updates they should be a better buy. As of late Technics and Sony have spotty quality control with poor customer service.
Batman lives there!!!
@@insidetechltd as we are talking about Technics, Let's call that 7 hours 5 with AAC. LDAC will consume one more.
This is just an advertisement hype video for the AZ-80. Nuratrue Pro still king in 2023
NuraTrue Pro win in some categories but not overall for me
u should have added an audio sample of how the music sound!!! bad review my friend !
It would be awesome if I could! But how would you suggest that I do that?
lol, that was funny comment. Or fat trolling :D
Bad comment more like. Think the review was fair and comprehensive enough. Sound impossible to replicate.
